DOJ Issues New Criminal Conspiracy Charges Against Capitol Insurrectionists

The wait is over for some of the people who participated in the January 6 storming of the U.S. Capitol which resulted in the deaths of five people, including a member of the Capitol Police Force.

CNN reports that the U.S. Department of Justice has begun handing down more criminal conspiracy charges against members of the group known as the Oath Keepers:

“The Justice Department has added four new defendants to the federal criminal conspiracy case against Oath Keepers who allegedly prepared for and took part in the US Capitol riot, according to a new indictment made public in DC District Court on Sunday.

“The newly named Oath Keeper defendants are Joseph Hackett, who went by ‘Ahab,’ Jason Dolan, who went by ‘Turmoil,’ and William Isaacs, all from Florida. A fourth new defendant’s name and alleged actions are still redacted.”

All of the Oath Keeper defendants are accused of taking part in a criminal conspiracy and entering the restricted Capitol grounds:

“Isaacs, for instance, allegedly yelled, ‘The fight’s not over’ once the Oath Keepers group had gotten inside the building, and he waved rioters down the hallway toward the Senate, according to the indictment.”

Additionally, five of the individuals already named as defendants are also facing charges of allegedly deleting their social media and cell phone activity, which could lead to them being convicted of obstruction of justice and other federal felonies.

The new court filings also lay out disturbing new details about how the Oath Keepers illegally attempted to smuggle weapons into Washington, D.C. for the Jan. 6 event:

“Department of Justice prosecutors were describing in court filings what else they’ve learned about the group’s so-called Quick Reaction Force, an effort to allegedly bring guns to a Northern Virginia Comfort Inn as backup for the siege.

“Previously, prosecutors had described how the Oath Keepers gathered and stashed weapons at the Comfort Inn, and how defendant Thomas Caldwell of Virginia allegedly had floated an idea of ferrying weapons across the Potomac River to assist with the Capitol siege.”

Before federal prosecutors are finished, many of the Oath Keeper defendants could well be facing charges that would put them in federal prison for the remained of their lives, a fitting punishment for anyone who dares to try and overthrow the elected representatives of the nation as they were going about their official duty of certifying the 2020 presidential election results.

Ironically, the Oath Keepers love to portray themselves as being devoted to the principle of defending the Constitution “against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” But they’re nothing more than terrorist punks who deserve to rot behind bars.

The Justice Department Is Forcing The Arizona GOP To Abandon The Next Step Of Their Election ‘Audit’

Republicans in the Arizona Senate have decided to abandon the next phase of their “audit” of the 2020 election in the Grand Canyon State, and it appears they did so as a result of actions taken by the Department of Justice.

AZCentral reports:

“The Arizona Senate is dropping, for now, a controversial plan to go door-to-door to ask local residents about their voting history as part of its audit of Maricopa County’s election.

“The decision, which Senate President Karen Fann included in a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice on Friday, comes after federal officials raised concerns that the canvassing could violate civil rights laws aimed to prevent voter intimidation.”

This is an encouraging sign, because it suggests that the DOJ will be actively involved in fighting against states that attempt to intimidate voters or restrict the rights of people to cast a ballot.

Specifically, the Justice Department wrote Fann and let her know that asking people how they voted is almost an intimidation tactic used to target minority communities.

In the letter, Pamela S. Karlan, principal deputy assistant attorney general in the department’s Civil Rights Division, wrote:

“Such investigative efforts can have a significant intimidating effect on qualified voters that can deter them from seeking to vote in the future.”

Arizona Republicans have also suggested that the 2020 election was rigged in their state by using ballots flown in from Asia. John Brakey, a Tucson activist involved in the audit, remarked:

“There’s accusations that 40,000 ballots were flown in and stuffed into the box and it came from the Southeast part of the world, Asia. And what they’re doing is to find out if there’s bamboo in the paper.”

The DOJ under Attorney General Merrick Garland is keeping their pledge to preserve, protect, and defend the U.S. Constitution,

Federal Judge Indicates Rod Rosenstein Is Going To Need A Good Criminal Attorney

U.S. District Court Judge Amy Berman Jackson recently issued a scathing ruling in which she ordered the Justice Department to release a memo from the DOJ’s Office of Legal Counsel which helped support former Attorney General William Barr’s decision not to prosecute failed, one-term former President Donald Trump on charges of obstruction of justice, making it clear that she believed Barr had lied to maintain a narrative that the Mueller report cleared Trump, which it most certainly didn’t.

Judge Jackson wrote:

“The review of the document reveals that the Attorney General was not then engaged in making a decision about whether the President should be charged with obstruction of justice; the fact that he would not be prosecuted was a given.”

Barr had made up his mind prior to receiving the report from Special Counsel Robert Mueller: He would declare that Trump had been cleared by Mueller and urge the country to move on.

But it turns out Barr didn’t pull off his deception alone. Instead, he had lots of help from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.

Remember Rod Rosenstein? He’s the one who appointed Mueller after then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions had recused himself because he had a conflict of interest. Rosenstein was seen as a steady, reliable man who would do what was right, not what was politically expedient.

However, as attorney Dirk Schwenk points out in a fascinating Twitter thread, Judge Jackson also exposed Rosenstein as a co-conspirator who had better hope he has a good criminal attorney on retainer:

Be sure and read the above tweet very carefully. Rosenstein and Barr had the OLC memo drafted to help cover up a decision the AG made regarding the Mueller investigation: No matter what Mueller found, Trump would be protected at all costs. That was the prime objective.

Barr, Rosenstein, and the Office of Legal Counsel were all in on the fix from the beginning. They would declare Trump exonerated even if Mueller said otherwise. Mueller was used as a pawn in a larger criminal scheme to assure that Trump wasn’t found guilty.

Rosenstein set the cover-up in place; Barr took the ball and carried it over the goal line. The upper echelons of the DOJ were used to protect Trump instead of protecting the Constitution those same Justice Department officials had sworn to uphold.

Rod Rosenstein is a criminal. So is Barr. So are others at the DOJ who were part of the conspiracy. It’s time to charge them and try them in a court of law.

The Trump ‘Inner Circle’ Fears Ivanka’s Connections To Giuliani Mean She’s Next

Those close to the Trump family are nervous, and the move by the Justice Department last week when search warrants were served on former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, reportedly have the Trump “inner circle” terrified that Ivanka, Don Jr., and even the former president are next to get a visit from the FBI.

News.com.au reports that there’s grave concern the DOJ is preparing to make more moves that could have serious repercussions for the Trump family:

“Trump insiders told CNN the raid was orchestrated to send a message to his inner circle, and it had worked, with a sense of fear ignited in those who believed they weren’t in the firing line.

“’This was a show of force that sent a strong message to a lot of people in Trump’s world that other things may be coming down the pipeline,’ one Trump adviser said.

“’I can’t for the life of me think why you would need to send seven FBI agents to go and collect a cellphone and laptop.'”

Also a source of worry is that if Guiliani is facing serious prison time, as former US attorney Preet Bharara has predicted, he will cooperate with federal investigators and tell what he knows about the former president and members of his family, all of whom are part of running the Trump Organization, which is suspected of having committed crimes such as insurance and tax fraud and is under investigation by multiple agencies in the state of New York, where the company is headquartered.

Another former Trump attorney, Michael Cohen, says it’s ironic that the tactics being used against the former New York City mayor (who was also U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York) are the very same ones Rudy used to go after the mafia:

“And it’s just ironic that the tactics that he created for that office are now going to be employed against him, in terms of making him plead guilty and, certainly, at the least, turning over information about Jared, Ivanka, about Don Jr., about Donald himself, about all of these individuals in that garbage can orbit of Donald Trump.”

Cohen added there’s probably much more evidence that has not yet been revealed by prosecutors but will come to light in due time:

“Who knows what Rudy was involved with. What we’re going to find out is, there are text messages, there are emails, there are different types of communication apps that the FBI knows how to re-establish, even if Rudy, who I don’t think is technological, tried to delete or what have you.”

The raid on Giuliani’s home and office is certain to have Donald Trump worried, according to Cohen:

“He cares about only himself. So, he doesn’t care that they raided Rudy’s home. He doesn’t care that they raided Rudy’s law office. What is it going to do to affect me, is all that he’s thinking right now. What did stupid Rudy do? What did stupid Rudy write? What sort of text messages or emails?

“What sort of stupid things was Rudy up to that’s now going to implicate me?”

The DOJ has indeed rattled the Trumps. And it’s safe to assume they have other moves they haven’t yet made that could be even more terrifying for the former president and his family.

DOJ May May Have A Way To Destroy All Right-Wing Extremist Groups In The U.S.

The Department of Justice (DOJ) is ratcheting up the pressure on the insurrectionists who attacked the U.S. Capitol in January, leaving five people dead, with reports suggesting that federal prosecutors are planning to charge as many as 500 more people for their connection to the riots.

And now we’re learning that the Justice Department may use a legal theory which would allow them to take down right-wing extremist groups such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.

Former FBI Assistant Director Frank Figliuzzi was a guest on MSNBC recently and was asked by host Alex Witt about the ongoing investigation:

“The Justice Department is now saying it expects to charge at least 500 people with taking part in those riots on Capitol Hill. So far over 400 have been charged in what the DOJ is calling one of the largest investigations in U.S. history.

“DOJ lawyers is calling this one of the largest — not just because of the number of people charged, but the sheer volume of evidence. It includes, last count, something like 20,000 hours of video from surveillance and police body cameras. I mean, can you put this in perspective and your reaction to all of it?”

Figliuzzi responded:

“Yeah, Alex, certainly, in my 25-year career including, by the way, 9/11 and the aftermath and inquiry of that — this makes that pale in comparison in terms of the span and scope of this investigation and the volume of evidence related to it.”

And that’s where the legal theory about charging groups with conspiracy and other crimes that would shatter them into a million pieces comes into play, Figliuzzi explained:

“And I am hearing from people I talked to involved in the investigation that yes, indeed, they will hit the 500 number in arrests and maybe surpass that, but that far more importantly, Alex, the magnitude of the charges will move from things like trespass and assault all of the way up to conspiracy and we’re seeing more of that and even possibly sedition and even possibly an enterprise theory of approach which is under consideration to take down and dismantle groups like Proud Boys and Oath Keepers.”

Dismantle them completely. Destroy them and everything they stand for. They’re right-wing terrorists and belong in prison.
