GOP Senator Gets Righteously Mocked For Saying He Wants ‘Jesus’ Instead Of ‘Reality’ In Children’s Books

Unless you live in the state of Oklahoma or are a U.S. Senate junkie, you’ve probably never heard of Sen. Markwayne Mullin (R-OK), but after today, you may never forget his name or the ridiculous things he said at a hearing on the banning of children’s books.

During a hearing of the Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Mullin asked a witness if she thought a children’s book about race entitled Our Skin contained a better lesson on race than the well-known Christian church tune for kids, “Jesus Loves Me.”

Mullin began by reading a section of Our Skin which states that white people created a thing called “race” and then sorted humans based on their color.

“If you don’t want to answer my question, that’s fine. Let’s move on down the panel. Which one is better to be taught? This book or the ‘Jesus Loves Me’ lyrics, that say everybody’s skin doesn’t matter. They’re all precious in his sight,” Mullin angrily demanded.

Cheryl Morman, president of the Virginia Alliance for Family Child Care Associations said she agreed that Jesus was important, but Mullin cut her off to continue his ranting.

“So, which one is better?” he asked.

“But the reality is —” Morman began to respond, only to be interrupted by Mullin yet again.

After being admonished by committee chair Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) to let the witness answer, Mullin started up again: “That doesn’t answer my question. You’re not answering my question. If you don’t want to answer my question, that’s fine,” he said in a shout.

Morman: “The reality is —”

“I don’t want reality! I’m asking the question! Which one is better? That’s exactly what it is,” Mullin thundered.

Committee members began laughing and one could be heard to say, “Got it on tape.”

Backing down from the reality statement, Mullin suggested he had misspoken, but added, “Jesus is always first.”

Jesus is always first, Senator Mullin? But what if the child was raised in an agnostic or atheist household? What if the child is Muslin, or Jewish, or another denomination that doesn’t accept Jesus as savior? Are we supposed to force-feed Jesus to them? And if so, does that mean that next week we can require the Koran be read by all students? What about the Book of Satan? Will we also put that on school reading lists?

Religion has it’s place. But that place is NOT in a public school, no matter what Jesus freaks like Sen. Mullin say.

Mullin was also mocked on Twitter:

Trump’s Scottish Golf Course Has Been ‘Blacklisted’ And He May Have To Sell It

Former president Donald Trump’s dreams of hosting the British Open at his Turnberry golf resort in Scotland have been squashed flat, according to the Daily Telegraph, and it appears he would have to sell the property before it will ever be considered for the prestigious golf tournament.

Open organizers have made it clear they will not hold the tournament at Turnberry as long as it’s owned by the disgraced ex-president, especially in light of what transpired at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.

Peter Dawson, the former chief executive of The R&A which runs the Open, remarked in 2021 that he “had no plans to stage any of our championships at Turnberry and will not do so in the foreseeable future.”

That comment is now being echoed by a source at The R&A:

“We have no plans to stage any of our championships there in the foreseeable future and will not return until we are convinced that the focus will be on the championship, the players and the course itself.”

Another source told the Telegraph: “The way it looks now, he would have to sell up before anything changes.”

Earlier this month, the failed, twice-impeached former president said he had spent a “tremendous” amount of money redeveloping the course, adding:

“It was done with a great architect, he said. A great golf architect recommended by Peter Dawson…. I said, give me the best one, and Martin Grant Hawtree… He’s a fabulous guy, a fabulous man…. What he does is this type of course, he really did a great job.”

But all the fabulous golf architects in the world aren’t going to be able to remove the Trump stench from Turnberry, and additional criminal indictments will only made Turnberry (and Trump) more toxic.

Former White House Aides Subpoenaed By Jack Smith About Trump’s Ties To Jan. 6 Attack: Report

Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith has subpoenaed former Trump administration aides who have knowledge of former president Donald Trump’s possible culpability for the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol that left five people, according to the New York Times.

Smith’s team of prosecutors interviewed former DHS Cybersecurity chief Chris Krebs, whose life was threatened after he said the 2020 presidential election had been free of fraud or improprieties. Trump also fired Krebs for his comments.

The investigators appear focused on Mr. Trump’s state of mind around the firing of Mr. Krebs, as well as on establishing a timeline of events leading up to the attack on the Capitol by a pro-Trump mob on Jan. 6, 2021. The latest subpoenas, issued roughly two weeks ago, went to officials in the personnel office, according to the two people familiar with the matter.

Investigators working for the special counsel are also interested in determining if Trump and his allies attempted to evaluate the loyalty of federal officials who were working for the disgraced ex-president at the time of the 2020 election and its aftermath. John McEntee, a former Trump personal aide, who allegedly questioned the loyalty of Krebs and developed a “loyalty test” for administration officials, was “seen going into the grand jury in recent months.”

Sources also told the Times that Smith’s team of prosecutors are looking into how top Trump administration officials approached the Justice Department hoping to the DOJ to declare the results of the 2020 election invalid so that millions of ballots could be destroyed and a new election held in key battleground states that the failed one-term former president lost to Joe Biden.

Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Memorial Day Message Backfired Badly On Her

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s (R-GA) message in honor of Memorial Day didn’t go very well for her, and she has no one to blame for it but herself

On Monday, Greene posted this from her Twitter account:

Take a close look at the flag on that meme. As HuffPost rightly notes, it doesn’t have the right number of stars on it.

Greene’s message contained a version of the U.S. flag with just 18 stars.

PatriotTakes, which monitors right-wing media, and several other critics spotted the error of the conspiracy theorist lawmaker, who has called for a “national divorce” and spoke last year at a white nationalist event:

There has never been an official U.S. flag with 18 stars.

It didn’t take long before Margie got lit up on social media, both for her incorrect flag and the times she’s voted against veterans.

For Independence Day in July, will Margie use a British flag?

Right Wingers Freak Out After Chick-fil-A Hires A VP Of Diversity: ‘Are We Going To Have To Boycott?’

Having launched boycotts against Bud Light and Target for daring to be non-bigoted when it comes to the LGBTQ community, right-wing extremists are now in one hell of a tizzy after finding out that one of their sacred corporate cows, Chick-fil-A, has a corporate vice president for “diversity, equity, and inclusion.”

Ron Filpkowski pointed out on Twitter that Chick-fil-A is indeed attempting to make diversity a part of their corporate image and mission.

On their website, the company has this to say about diversity:

Our founder, Truett Cathy, believed that ‘a great company is a caring company,’ and since the beginning, care has been at the center of everything we do. We understand that the path toward Better at Together looks different for every business. At Chick-fil-A, Inc., our commitment is to approach this work with intention and humility, always believing the best in one another and striving for common ground. We’re early on in our journey, but we’re honored by the opportunity to steward our organization’s greatest asset – our people – and are energized by the road ahead.

Just below that statement is a photo and quote from Erick McReynolds, VP, Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion:

“Chick-fil-A restaurants have long been recognized as a place where people know they will be treated well. Modeling care for others starts in the restaurant, and we are committed to ensuring mutual respect, understanding and dignity everywhere we do business. These tenets are good business practice and crucial to fulfilling our Corporate Purpose.”

Oh my goodness! He’s…(gasp!) a black man!!

Let the online right-wing nutjob meltdown begin, along with mockery of their ignorance.
