WATCH John Kirby Swat Down A Fox Host For Saying Al Qaeda ‘Feels Pretty Good’ After Drone Strike

National Security Council Coordinator John Kirby gave Fox News host Brian Kilmeade a lesson in foreign policy and how to fight terrorism during an interview on the network Tuesday.

Kilmeade began the interview by trying to downplay the killing of Al Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri by a drone strike in Afghanistan:

“I do think that one would believe if the leader of the Taliban — excuse me — the leader of Al Qaeda is not in a cave or hiding out in the mountains of Pakistan. That he’s on the balcony in the capitol, that Al Qaeda feels pretty good about their presence in that country and there’s more than just one guy.”

“But that’s not good news for us.”

Kirby, a retired Navy rear admiral, responded:

“I’d actually throw that back a little, Brian. I don’t think they’re feeling too good about being in Afghanistan right now.”

Kilmeade:

“Really? If they were worried about it, they would be hiding in Pakistan where we couldn’t even find them.”

And that’s when Kirby took Kilmeade to school and gave him a lesson in how to fight terrorism abroad:

“I mean, I don’t think Al Qaeda can look at what happened over the last 48 hours and feel like Afghanistan is going to be much of a safe haven for them. We have proven that over-the-horizon counterterrorism capability works.”

Al Qaeda is on the run and trying to find a new leader. Their power and reach are greatly reduced, and we are all safer as a result.

If Trump had killed Zawahiri, Fox would be ready to hold a ticker tape parade. But because Joe Biden pulled it off (much the same way former President Barack Obama sent Osama bin Laden to a watery grave), Brian Kilmeade is trying to make sure the current president doesn’t get any credit. It’s the same old shit from Fox.

Karine Jean-Pierre Shreds Amazon’s Jeff Bezos On Her First Day As Press Secy. And It’s Absolutely Awesome

Monday was Karine Jean-Pierre’s first day as White House Press Secretary, and she did a great job, proving that she’s a superb replacement for Jen Psaki, who is now working for MSNBC.

At one point during today’s press briefing, Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy decided to ask about a tweet that had been sent out last Friday by President Joe Biden which read:

Doocy asked:

“The president’s Twitter account posted the other day if you wanna bring down inflation, let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share. How does raising taxes on corporations reduce inflation?”

Jean-Pierre responded:

“We have talked about this past year, about making sure that the wealthiest among us are paying their fair share, and that is important to do. That is something the president has been working on everyday when we talk about inflation and lowering costs, so it’s very important that as we’re seeing costs rise, as we’re talking about how to, you know, build an America that’s equal for everyone and doesn’t leave anyone behind, that is an important part of that as well.”

Doocy followed up with this query:

“But how does raising taxes on corporations lower the cost of gas, the cost of a used car, the cost of food for everyday Americans?”

“So I think we encourage those who have done very well, especially those who care about climate change, to support a fairer tax code that doesn’t charge manufacturers workers, cops, builders a higher percentage of their earnings, that the most fortunate people in our nation, and not let that stand in the way of reducing energy costs and fighting an existential problem if you think about it, that is an example. To support basic collective bargaining rights as well.”

Not content, Doocy asked again:

“The President said if you wanna bring down inflation let’s make sure the wealthiest corporations pay their fair share. Jeff Bezos came out and tweeted about that, he said ‘the newly created disinformation board should review this tweet.’ Would you be okay with that?”

That led Jean-Pierre to put Bezos on full blast, responding:

“Look, it’s not a huge mystery why one of the wealthiest individuals on earth, right, opposes an economic agenda that is for the middle class, that cuts some of the biggest costs families face, fights inflation for the long haul, right, and that’s what we’re talking about, that’s why we’re talking about lowering inflation here, and adds to the historic deficit reduction the president is achieving by asking the richest taxpayers and corporations to pay their fair share. That’s what we’re talking about.”

Boom! That’s what we’re talking about. And while we’re at it, let’s also tax the hell out of Doocy’s boss, Rupert Murdoch. If he doesn’t like it, he can move back to Australia and renounce his American citizenship.

Jen Psaki Leaving The White House And Joining MSNBC In The Spring: Report

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki will leave the Biden administration in May and join MSNBC, according to a report from Sara Fischer of Axios.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki is in exclusive talks with MSNBC to join the network after she leaves the White House around May, according to a source close to the matter.

Why it matters: It’s been speculated for weeks that Psaki would leave the White House for a TV gig. White House communications staffers often negotiate TV jobs once they leave an administration.

Psaki, who has served as press secretary since Biden took office, is expected to host a show for MSNBC on NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock.

In addition to those duties, Psaki will also be a part of the network’s live programming, but won’t replace Rachel Maddow in the 9:00 p.m. timeslot. There had been rumors that Psaki would be the permanent replacement for Maddow, who is currently on hiatus.

Axios also notes that streaming platforms such as Peacock have opened up new opportunities for top talent such as Psaki to host their own shows without it necessitating a major shift in in the live TV broadcast portion of the network.

Psaki has become known for using facts instead of spin in response to questions from reporters, especially Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, who recently tried to trip her up on the issue of gas prices, only to be slapped down by Psaki, who told him:

“Let me give you the facts here. I know that can be inconvenient but I think they’re important in this moment.”

WATCH Jen Psaki Clap Back At A Fox Reporter Who Attempts To Push Lies About Oil Prices

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki was more than ready for a ridiculous line of questioning from Fox News reporter Jacqui Heinrich at the daily press briefing.

Specifically, Heinrich asked why the U.S. government isn’t increasing domestic oil production, even though such an increase would have to come from oil companies, not the White House:

“On gas, you just said that, you know, less supply raises prices, it’s not in our strategic interest to reduce the supply. We also know, you know, the president as recently as yesterday talked about increasing domestic manufacturing to bring down prices on inflated items like goods. So why not apply the same logic to energy and increase domestic production here?”

Psaki calmly responded:

“Well, there are 9000 approved oil leases that the oil companies are not tapping into currently. So I would ask them that question.”

Heinrich:

“Is there nothing that the administration can do to get those providers back to pre-pandemic levels?”

The press secretary had the perfect comeback:

“Do you think the oil companies don’t have enough money to drill on the places that have been preapproved?”

That led the Fox reporter to whine:

“Just asking.”

Again, Psaki leveled Heinrich with her response:

“I would, I would point that question to them and we can talk about it more tomorrow when you learn more.”

From there, Heinrich moved on to another favorite Fox News/right-wing talking point:

“Do you think that opening the Keystone pipeline and having more energy-friendly policies might do that?”

Once again, Psaki used facts to destroy the Fox reporter’s idiotic query:

“The Keystone Pipeline has never been operational. It would take years for that to have any impact. I know a number of members of Congress have suggested that, but that is a proposed solution that has no relationship or would have no impact on what the problem is.”

However, Heinrich decided to continue the questions, even though she had already made a fool of herself:

“So during those years where it would take to bring down prices, as you’re saying, we should just continue to buy Russian oil?”

Psaki:

“Well, again, Jacqui, I think you’re familiar with a number of steps. We’ve taken a historic release from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Well, let me finish what we can do over time and what this is all a reminder of in the president’s view. Is there a need to reduce our reliance on oil. The Europeans need to do that. We need to do that, if we do more to invest in clean energy, more to invest in other sources of energy. That’s exactly what we can do to prevent this from happening in the future. We welcome any Republicans from joining us in that effort.”

Seemingly determined to get the last word, Heinrich remarked:

“As long as we’re buying Russian oil, though, aren’t we financing the war?”

Psaki made it clear the possibility of banning all oil imports from Russia remains on the table:

“Well, Jacqui, again, it’s only about 10 percent of what we’re importing. I’ve not made any announcement about any decision on that front. But our objective here and our focus is making sure that any step we take maximizes the impact on President Putin and minimizes it on the American people. And anyone who’s calling for an end to the carveout should be clear that that would raise prices.”

Jen Psaki is a national treasure.

WATCH Jen Psaki Call Fox’s Peter Doocy Out For Lying About Biden’s Policies

If there’s a White House press briefing, you can count on Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy trying to twist President Joe Biden’s words and getting slapped down by press secretary Jen Psaki.

Today’s dustup took place when Doocy asked about a report that seven school districts in Virginia are suing Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R) for his ban on mask madates:

“So who does the president think knows best for students? School board members or parents?”

Psaki replied:

“The president believes that public health officials have the best guidance on what we can all do to protect ourselves. Studies show that masks reduce transmissions in school. They are a proven tool that helps keep teachers safe from Covid and they can thus help keep schools open and safe.”

But that response wasn’t enough for Doocy, who then asked:

“So if a parent wants to send their kid to school with no mask, should that child be allowed to go to school and be in class?”

Psaki:

“Again, what we’re advising school districts on is to abide by public health guidelines and follow public health guidelines. It’s about keeping an entire community safe and those are the decisions that people should focus on making.”

Clearly trying to criticize Biden’s policies on education and health, Doocy added:

“Just so it’s crystal clear for anybody watching, you guys think that ultimately in this conflict between school board members and parents, the school board members should have more of a say.”

The press secretary shut Doocy up by telling him:

“That’s actually not what I said. I think everybody should abide by public health guidelines, not just to keep their own kids safe, but keep their school community safe, whether it’s teachers, classmates, administrators or others in schools.”

And that’s how you counter the bullshit that flows 24/7 from Fox and other right-wing propaganda outlets: With facts. They absolutely hate that.

Here’s the video from Fox News:
