Liz Cheney Slam Dunks Mike Johnson After He Shows Up At Trump’s Hush Money Trial

Former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) couldn’t contain her disgust when it was reported that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) would be in attendance today at failed former president Donald Trump’s New York hush money trial.

Earlier in the morning, The Hill reported that Johnson would indeed become the latest Republican to appear and offer moral support to Trump.

In a statement confirming Johnson’s appearance in Manhattan, the Speaker’s office called the hush money case “the sham prosecution of President Trump” and railed against “left-wing Manhattan district attorney” Alvin Bragg, who led the investigation into the former president.

On Monday, Sens. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) were at the Manhattan courthouse. Both spewed fact-free conspiracy theories about Trump’s prosecution for falsifying business records and illegally interfering in the 2016 election.

But having the current speaker show up was a bridge too much for Cheney, who lit into Johnson on Twitter.

Others on social media also joined in mocking Johnson.

Liz Cheney Has The Perfect Clapback To Trump’s Latest J6 Conspiracy Theory

It took former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) just a few lines on social media to completely destroy failed former president Donald Trump’s latest nonsensical conspiracy theory regarding the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and her response is almost guaranteed to enrage the Donald.

Trump is now claiming that Cheney and the January 6 House Select Committee of destroying evidence that would prove he didn’t play any role in the Capitol insurrection.

On Monday, Trump posted a bizarre alternative reality blast on his failing Truth Social site.

“Why did American disaster Liz Cheney, who suffers from TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome), and was defeated for Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressman or Congresswoman in the history of our Country, ILLEGALLY DELETE & DESTROY most of the evidence, and related items, from the January 6th Committee of Political Thugs and Misfits. THIS ACT OF EXTREME SABOTAGE MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY LAWYERS TO PROPERLY PREPARE FOR, AND PRESENT, A PROPER DEFENSE OF THEIR CLIENT, ME. All of the information on Crazy Nancy Pelosi turning down 10,000 soldiers that I offered to to guard the Capitol Building, and beyond, is gone. The ridiculous Deranged Jack Smith case on Immunity, which the most respected legal minds in the Country say I am fully entitled to, is now completely compromised and should be thrown out and terminated, JUST LIKE THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS DID TO THE EVIDENCE!”

As with nearly everything Trump says, his latest bullshit claim has already been thoroughly debunked by the Washington Post on two separate occasions, with the Post noting:

As we have documented before, President Donald Trump never requested 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the Capitol that day. He threw out a number, in casual conversation, that is now regarded by his supporters as a lifeline to excuse his inaction when a mob inspired by his rhetoric invaded the Capitol.

Cheney had the perfect response to Trump’s nonsense.

Other Twitter/X users then joined the ridicule.

Trump sounds terrified, and he should be. Special Counsel Jack Smith has the goods on him.

Liz Cheney: Jim Jordan Was One Of The ‘Masterminds’ Of Jan. 6 And Has ‘Something To Hide’

Though we’ve known for nearly three years that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was in phone contact with former president Donald Trump on January 6, 2021 as the U.S. Capitol was being attacked by Trump supporters, it remains unclear exactly what role Jordan may have played in organizing the protests that took place that fateful day.

Now, however, a former colleague of Jordan’s, Liz Cheney, is suggesting that she believes the Ohio Republican was one of the “masterminds” behind Jan. 6.

Appearing on “Deadline: White House” to discuss her new book, Cheney was asked about Jordan.

“I think that there’s no question he has — that Jim Jordan has something to hide, probably a lot to hide,” Cheney remarked. “If you go back and you look at the phone records as well as what he’s said himself about his discussions and his conversations with Donald Trump on the 6. There’s a very significant role he played in the lead-up to that. He was clearly one of the masterminds in terms of helping to facilitate Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the election.”

Cheney added that Jordan’s steadfast refusal to comply with a subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the 2020 election and Jan. 6 is also highly suspicious.

“So, you have to imagine that he’s doing everything he can to help Donald Trump, to do Donald Trump’s bidding. And I think that he has so many questions of his own to answer that people just need to go back and look at the record. Look at how confused he’s been when people have pushed him on what did you say to Donald Trump. When did you talk to him on the 6th? What was your role in all of this? Did you make a request for pardons? But he’s very clearly at the heart of what was an attempt to seize power and overturn an election.”

Does that mean Jordan has “criminal exposure?” host Nicolle Wallace asked. Cheney replied, “He has a lot of questions to answer.”

In time, perhaps Special Counsel Jack Smith will take a long hard look at Jordan and others in Congress who may have played a role in Jan. 6 and the attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Until then, we can always hope that Smith succeeds in obtaining guilty verdicts against Donald Trump.

Liz Cheney: Ron DeSantis Disqualified Himself From Being POTUS With His Comments On Pardons

According to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), he deserves to be president because he has a clear vision for how he wants to lead the United States into the future and is more electable than failed former president Donald Trump.

However, remarks DeSantis made during an appearance on “The Clay Travis & Buck Sexton Show” podcast are already coming back to haunt him.

Asked if he would pardon defendants who have been found guilty for taking part in the violent January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, DeSantis had this to say:

“On day one, I will have folks that will get together and look at all these cases, who people are victims of weaponization or political targeting, and we will be aggressive in issuing pardons.”

In other words, DeSantis isn’t ruling out pardoning people for their role in January 6, meaning that even Stewart Rhodes, founder of the Proud Boys who was sentenced to 18 years in prison this week, could possibly get a pardon from a President DeSantis.

That was all former former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) needed to hear to render her verdict on DeSantis and his fitness for the highest office in the land.

Cheney, who served as vice chairperson of the House Select Committee on the Capitol insurrection tweeted out:

“Any candidate who says they will pardon Jan. 6 defendants is not qualified to be President.”

This isn’t the first time Cheney has spoken up and been critical of DeSantis. In August of last year, she had this to say:

“I think that Ron DeSantis has lined himself up almost entirely with Donald Trump, and I think that’s very dangerous.”

Cheney added that she “would find it very difficult” to support DeSantis.

Ron DeSantis is utterly unfit for the presidency. So is Donald Trump. Nikki Haley and Tim Scott are also-rans and also don’t belong in the Oval Office. The GOP has no one worth a damn in 2024. That alone suggests they’ll likely lose in a landslide.

Donald Trump Elections GOP Polls

2024 Election Poll Shows Trump Trailing Both Ron DeSantis AND Liz Cheney

A new poll is certain to enrage disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump because it shows him trailing both Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former Rep. Liz Cheney in the 2024 race for the Republican presidential nomination.

The Deseret News/Hinckley Institute of Politics poll only reflects sentiment in the state of Utah, but Trump’s third place showing suggests that even in a deep red state voters are sick and tired of him.

Mediaite reports:

Yes, the new survey has Trump in third place — pulling in just 14.6 percent of the vote. DeSantis came out on top in the Deseret News/Hinckley survey — as he has in many recent state polls — with 24.2 percent.

But the real surprise is Cheney. The defeated Wyoming congresswoman ranks second in the Deseret News/Hinckley survey with 16.4 percent support from Utah GOP primary voters.

Cheney lost her bid for another term in the House of Representatives to Rep.-elect Harriet Hageman, but her name is often mentioned as a possible candidate for the 2024 Republican nomination. Her high-profile role as vice chair of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol has angered Trump and many of his GOP allies.

The Wyoming Republican has been extremely critical of the role Trump played in the Capitol insurrection, remarking in July that “Trump engaged in the ‘most serious misconduct’ of any U.S. president in history by inciting the mayhem and then refusing for more than three hours to call off the rioters.”

It will be interesting to see how Trump responds to the new poll showing him a distant third in Utah. Rest assured that someone else will be to blame because nothing is ever Donald’s fault.
