Liz Cheney Uses Her Concession Speech To Destroy Trump’s Claim The FBI Planted Evidence

As expected, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) was defeated by challenger Harriet Hageman in the GOP primary on Tuesday, but in her concession speech, Cheney made it clear that she plans to do everything in her power to make sure that failed former president Donald Trump is eventually brought low.

Speaking to supporters in Jackson, Wyoming, Cheney noted:

“Our nation is young in the history of mankind, and yet we’re the oldest democracy in the world. Our survival is not guaranteed. History has shown us over and over again how poisonous lies destroyed three nations. Over the last several months, in the January 6 hearings, the American people have watched dozens of Republicans, including the most senior officials working for President Trump in the White House, the Justice Department, and on his campaign—people who served President Trump loyally—testify that they all told him the election was not stolen or rigged and there was no massive fraud. That’s why President Trump and others invent excuses, pretexts for people not to watch the hearings at all. But no citizen of this republic is a bystander. All of us have an obligation to understand what actually happened. We cannot abandon the truth and remain a free nation.”

Cheney then branded Trump as a liar and pointed to his attacks on the FBI agents who were doing their jobs when they served a search warrant on his Mar-a-Lago resort last week:

“To believe Donald Trump’s election lies, you must believe that dozens of federal and state courts who ruled against him, including many judges he appointed, were all corrupted and biased, that all manner of crazy conspiracy theories stole our election from us and that Donald Trump actually remains president today. As of last week, you must also believe that 30 career FBI agents, who have spent their lives working to serve our country, abandoned their honor and their oath and went to Mar-a-Lago, not to perform a lawful search or address a national security threat, but instead with a secret plan to plant fake incriminating documents in the boxes they seized. This is yet another insidious lie.

“Donald Trump knows that voicing these conspiracies will provoke violence and threats of violence. This happened on January 6, and it’s now happening again.”

For the time being, Trump has bested Cheney. But she’s far from finished with him and still has over four months to make his life hell as she continues to serve on the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection.

Dick Cheney Absolutely Destroys ‘Coward’ Trump In Powerful New Political Ad For His Daughter

If you’re anything like me, you probably have very little admiration or respect for former vice president Dick Cheney, who is sometimes referred to as “Dr. Evil” for his role in the disastrous Iraq war and U.S. occupation of the country which led to a horrible insurgency, along with the deaths of thousands of American and allied troops.

But an ad the former VP for George W. Bush has filmed for his daughter, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) — who is facing an uncertain bid for reelection since she agreed to be a member of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol — is powerful and takes aim directly at failed, one-term former president Donald Trump.

The ad begins with Cheney looking into the camera and remarking:

“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.

“He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him.”

And then the former vice president pulls out the heavy artillery as he continues his attack on the disgraced, twice-impeached ex-president:

“He is a coward. A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters. He lost his election and he lost big. I know it, he knows it and deep down I think most Republicans know it.

“Lynne and I are so proud of Liz for standing up for the truth, doing what is right, honoring her oath to the Constitution when so many in our own party are too scared to do so.”

The ad concludes with a strong endorsement of his daughter, whom polls show is running far behind her Republican challenger, Harriet Hageman:

“Liz is fearless. She never backs down from a fight.

“There is nothing more important she will ever do than lead the effort to make sure Donald Trump is never near the Oval Office again. And she will succeed. I am Dick Cheney. I proudly voted for my daughter. And I hope you will too.”

MAGA Twitter Explodes With Red Hot Rage After Kevin Costner Endorses Liz Cheney

The MAGA minions who hang out on Twitter and still defend failed, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump are absolutely apoplectic about a tweet sent out by Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) touting the endorsement of Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner.

The Hill reports that Cheney tweeted out a photo of Costner wearing a T-shirt that makes clear who he supports:

ITK confirmed that Costner is the smiling figure featured in Cheney’s tweet, which included a message: “Real men put country over party.” Cheney’s office didn’t respond to questions from ITK about details of Costner’s backing.

Costner’s support comes at a critical time for Cheney, as a poll released just last month shows her trailing her main primary challenger, Trump-backed Harriet Hageman, by more than 20 points.

In case you’re wondering, Costner considers himself to be an independent, telling The Daily Beast in 2020:

“I vote for who I think has the best interests of the country and how we sit in the world.

“The Democratic Party doesn’t represent everything that I think, and neither does the Republican Party right now — at all. So, I find it too limiting.”

However, a quick look at some of the postings in response to Costner’s T-shirt backing Cheney makes it clear that the Trump faithful consider the actor to be a traitor, even though they know nothing about him.

Liz Cheney Claps Back At Tom Cotton After He Slams Jan. 6 Hearings – But Admits He Hasn’t Watched Them

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) made Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) look like a complete fool after he criticized the hearings being conducted by the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol insurrection.

Cotton appeared on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show Monday and slammed the hearings, Mediaite reports:

“It was clear in Nancy Pelosi’s refusal to seat Jim Jordan and Jim Banks as Republican members of that committee, a break with precedent going back to the beginning of the House of Representatives in the 18th Century. And I think what you’ve seen over the last few weeks is why Anglo-American jurisprudence going back centuries has found that adversarial inquiry, cross-examination is the best way to get at the truth.”

Cotton later confessed that he hadn’t actually watched the hearings, but had merely seen “a snippet here or there on the news.”

“I will confess that I did not watch that hearing, and I have not watched any of the hearings, so I’ve not seen any of them out of the context that I see a snippet here or there on the news.”

It’s kind of hard to accurately gauge the fairness or probative value of a congressional hearing if you haven’t seen any of it, and that’s exactly what Cheney reminded Cotton on Twitter, where she absolutely destroyed him:

It should be interesting to see if Cotton attempts a retort to Cheney. If he has even a shred of a brain, he won’t. Then again, he’s already proven that he isn’t exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.

Bennie Thompson And Liz Cheney Have A Message For Trump After Steve Bannon’s Conviction

After only three short hours of deliberation, a jury in Washington, D.C. convicted former Trump administration senior political strategist Steve Bannon on two counts of contempt of Congress, according to the Washington Post.

Stephen K. Bannon, the right-wing podcaster and longtime confidante of former president Donald Trump, was convicted Friday of contempt of Congress for his refusal to provide documents or testimony to a House committee probing the Jan. 6, 2021, attack.

Bannon, 68, is the closest person to Trump to be convicted of a crime amid the fallout from the attack on Congress, which occurred as lawmakers met to formally tally the 2020 presidential election result. The contempt case involved legislative efforts to investigate the Jan. 6 violence and what led up to it, however, rather than the actual events of the day.

The trial, which lasted a week and only featured two witnesses, tested a rarely used criminal statute meant to ensure people comply with congressional subpoenas. The verdict, after 2½ hours of jury deliberations, sent a message to other potential committee witnesses, the panel’s chair and vice-chair said in a joint statement.

After the conviction, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.), the Jan. 6 committee’s chairman, and Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.), the vice chair, issued a statement that was clearly aimed at failed, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump:

“The conviction of Steve Bannon is a victory for the rule of law and an important affirmation of the Select Committee’s work. As the prosecutor stated, Steve Bannon ‘chose allegiance to Donald Trump over compliance with the law.’ Just as there must be accountability for all those responsible for the events of January 6th, anyone who obstructs our investigation into these matters should face consequences.  No one is above the law.”

Throughout the committee’s hearings, there have been reminders that no one is above the law, and that includes Trump, who may have had a certainly level of security from prosecution while in office, but no longer enjoys that privilege.

Earlier this week, Attorney General Merrick Garland also seemed to be sending a message to the ex-president when he told reporters:

During a press conference, a visibly animated Garland twice said that “no person” was above the law when pressed specifically about Trump, whom Democrats say incited the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection over his unfounded claims of widespread voter fraud in 2020. Democrats also cite Trump’s larger, months-long campaign to try and reverse his election loss. (Trump insists he did nothing wrong.)

“There is a lot of speculation about what the Justice Department is doing, what’s it not doing, what our theories are and what our theories aren’t, and there will continue to be that speculation. That’s because a central tenant of the way in which the Justice Department investigates and a central tenant of the rule of law is that we do not do our investigations in the public.”

Trump is going to be charged. There’s way too much evidence to give him a free pass.
