James Comer Signals Retreat On Biden Impeachment – Says He Doesn’t Want More Hearings

A month ago, House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-KY) opened formal hearings as part of an impeachment inquiry into alleged illegal bribes paid to President Joe Biden, making some grandiose claims and insisting that he had found evidence that would make Biden’s impeachment a fait accompli.

At the first hearing, Comer made some bold statements, the Washington Post reported at the time.

In his opening statement, Comer alleged that Biden has for years “lied to the American people about his knowledge of and participation in his family’s corrupt business schemes.” Comer accused Biden of having developed relationships with his family’s foreign business targets.

“These business targets include foreign oligarchs who sent millions of dollars to his family,” he said. “It also includes a Chinese national who wired a quarter of a million dollars to his son.”

However, it soon became clear that Comer had no actual evidence, just unsupported allegations, rumors, and hearsay.

But in the course of just a month, Comer’s tune has changed dramatically, and he’s now suggesting he probably won’t hold more hearings on impeachment, Philip Bump of the Post notes.

“I don’t know that I want to hold any more hearings, to be honest with you,” Comer said while speaking to reporters on Capitol Hill last week. He complained that it was hard to keep members present for hours on end, given that so many had other commitments. Instead, he said, he preferred depositions, which “you can do more with.”

Wow! How’s that for an about-face?

Comer’s remarks are especially odd considering that Thursday evening new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) told Fox host Sean Hannity that he’s impressed with the oversight committee’s work.

“I know people are getting anxious and they’re getting restless and they just want somebody to be impeached. But that’s not — we don’t do that like the other team. We have to base it upon the evidence, and the evidence is coming together. We’ll see where it leads.”

What in the world is going on here?

Well, there’s the simple fact that holding hearings means Comer and his fellow Republicans have to do more than just sit and go on long harangues about how they’re certain the president broke the law even though they don’t have a shred of evidence.

And then there’s Comer’s mention of depositions, which “you can do more with.”

What Comer is hinting at is putting people under oath and even if they don’t provide any damning facts, he and others in the GOP can still hint that they’re making progress, knowing they don’t have to provide the goods because the depositions are part of an ongoing investigation and will remain secret.

Just a hint of wrongdoing is all Comer and his GOP buddies need to try and draw a false equivalency between Biden and Donald Trump, who has 91 criminal charges hanging over his head.

There’s no need to actually impeach Biden. All Comer needs is enough bullshit to tar the president and keep his bogus “investigation” going.

It’d be tempting to call the whole ordeal smoke and mirrors. But it’s nowhere near that sophisticated. It’s just a smokescreen using fumes from the already deceased horse the GOP can’t resist beating over and over again.

Biden’s Campaign Trolls Trump On His Home Turf – Joins Truth Social And Posts A Hilarious Burn

Things are going well for President Joe Biden as he draws ever closer to the formal beginning of the 2024 campaign.

Just yesterday, it was announced that the Biden-Harris team had an enormous fundraising haul in the third quarter of this year, with CNN reporting:

President Joe Biden raised more than $71 million for his reelection campaign and the Democratic Party in the third fundraising quarter of the year, his campaign announced on Sunday, far outpacing former President Donald Trump and the rest of the GOP primary who have reported their results so far.

The president’s political operation with the Democratic National Committee ended the quarter with $91 million, the campaign said. Biden’s campaign did not disclose how that money was divided between the campaign and the party committee.

The president nearly met the $72 million that he raised in the first fundraising quarter this year, though that period was three weeks shorter since he launched his reelection in late April.

Meanwhile, the leading Republican presidential campaign — failed one-term former president Donald Trump — is facing bad news every day on the legal front, with a federal judge imposing a partial gag order on the disgraced ex-president earlier today, meaning that his comments can now get him fined and imprisoned if he isn’t careful.

Perhaps sensing that Trump is getting weaker by the day, the Biden campaign decided to join Donnie’s failing social media site, Truth Social, making their announcement on Twitter as if to add insult to injury.

It’ll be interesting to see how long Truth Social allows the Biden campaign account to remain before they claim there’s been a violation of the terms of service.

But until that happens, other social media residents had a blast joining the epic trolling rolled out by the Biden campaign.

WATCH Nikki Haley Get Swatted Down When She Blames Biden For Attack On Israel

Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley got a heavy dose of fact-checking Sunday when she began spouting lies during an appearance on “Meet the Press.”

Host Kristen Welker asked Haley if she thought it was irresponsible of Republicans to blame President Joe Biden for attacks on Israel by Hamas terrorists that have left at least 600 Israelis dead.

“Do you think it was irresponsible of your rivals to level that allegation without any evidence or proof?”

Instead, Haley decided she’d attack Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, suggesting that the $6 billion which is scheduled to be returned to Iran played a role in the attacks.

“They go and spread terrorism every time they get a dollar; it doesn’t go to the Iranian people; it does go to terrorist attacks, and Secretary Blinken is just wrong to imply that this money is not being moved around as we speak and yet, and that’s it.”

Welker pushed back:

“And yet, ambassador, there’s just no proof of that. Yet this is just the hours after that immediate attack. Is it irresponsible to level that charge when you really don’t have any evidence of that at this point in time?”

Rather than directly respond, Haley tried to change the parameters of the discussion.

“The evidence is look at what the Iranian people have done to freedom-loving people around the world look at what the Iranian people the Iranian regime has done to threaten Israel over the years.”

Once more, Welker corrected the former UN ambassador for the Trump administration.

“Ambassador Haley, just to be clear again, the secretary of state said categorically they have not seen a link.”

As is so often the case, a member of the GOP (especially one running for president) is only too happy to disseminate lies and conspiracy theories because they have no actual answers or policies of their own. And yet they wonder why the majority of Americans don’t believe a word they say.

Tommy Tuberville’s Betrayal Of The Military Costs Alabama A Shot At Space Command HQ

Alabama Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville appears to have cost his state a major economic boost as President Joe Biden has chosen to leave the prestigious Space Command headquarters in Colorado.

Space Command, which was created in the Trump administration, had been promised by the disgraced ex-president to Alabama, but Biden decided today that the force will state in Colorado, which is a $1 billion boon to the Centennial State’s economy.

NBC News reports that the decision was announced by Pentagon press secretary Brig. Gen. Pat Ryder:

“Today, following a thorough and deliberate evaluation process, and after consultation with (Defense) Secretary (Lloyd) Austin and weighing the input of senior military leaders, President Biden notified the Department of Defense that he has selected Colorado Springs as the permanent location of the U.S. Space Command Headquarters.”

Did Tuberville’s refusal to allow military promotions to go forward in order to solidify his anti-choice credentials play a role in the decision? Almost certainly, NBC notes.

NBC News first reported in May that the Biden administration was reconsidering plans to move Space Command headquarters to Alabama partly because the state has imposed a near total ban on abortion. White House officials have denied Alabama’s restrictive abortion law was a factor in their review.

Members of the Alabama GOP congressional delegation said they would fight the decision, but it seems unclear what they can do, despite Rep. Mike Rogers, chair of the House Armed Services Committee whining, “This is far from over.” He added that “far-left politics, not national security, was the driving force behind this decision.”

However, as commander-in-chief, Biden makes all final decisions on the military, so Rogers might as well get over himself.

Trump Posts A ‘Highlight Reel’ Of Himself To Prove He’s Fit And Twitter Can’t Stop Laughing

According to disgraced, failed, one-term former president Donald Trump, he’s the most mentally and physically fit man to ever hold the office of President of the United States. After all, his booking form in Fulton County, Georgia listed his height and weight as 6-foot-3 and 215 pounds, even though that’s 30 pounds lighter than the weight he disclosed after his last official White House physical.

HuffPost reports that what got Donnie so upset and prompted him to post the video — entitled “Trump’s Got The Touch” — is a new poll which shows that 49% of Americans don’t think he’s mentally fit to be president again. Apparently, the disgraced ex-president wants to challenge Biden to some sort of competition.

“I will name the place and the test, and it will be a tough one,” Trump wrote. “Nobody will come even close to me! We can also throw some physical activity into it. I just won the Senior Club Championship at a big golf club, with many very good players. To do so you need strength, accuracy, touch and, above all, mental toughness.”

And then there’s the clip itself, which is described as, Trump “tossing the football as a younger man and recently in Iowa; celebrating a hole-in-one; making a free throw at Madison Square Garden; sinking a long putt; playing catch with Hall of Fame pitcher Mariano Rivera at the White House; and throwing out the ceremonial first pitch at a minor league baseball game.”

Watch “Trump’s Got The Touch” for yourself by clicking here, which will take you to the Truth Social posting/video.

The clip set off spasms of laughter and mockery on Twitter. Take a look:
