Former Prosecutor Says Samuel Alito May Have Already Committed ‘An Impeachable Offense’

 

Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito may have already opened himself up to the possibility of being impeached and removed from the court if he lied in a letter he sent to members of Congress, according to a former federal prosecutor.

Discussing the matter of Alito flying an American flag upside down at his home, Harry Litman noted that the justice needs to recuse himself from hearing any case which involves indicted former president Donald Trump or January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection.

Asked by a CNN host what can be done about a member of the court who has a conflict of interest yet refuses to step aside on cases in which they have an obvious personal interest, Litman explained, “There are really few.”

Litman added that Alito “has written to the congress, saying nobody could reasonably question my impartiality that the flag was flying.”

“Think about it for a moment. And say you were involved in a gay rights case. You were on the other side and you pass a judge’s house and the gay pride flag is flying. In my mind, you can think reasonably that person won’t be impartial.”

“There is the discrepancy and I really think it is essential to get to the bottom of it,” Litman continued.

That’s when the specter of impeachment came up, with Litman saying, “If it’s the case, I am not saying it’s the case, but if it is that Justice Alito sent a letter to the Congress and didn’t tell the truth in it. That is exceptionally grave. I think that would be an impeachable offense.”

Unfortunately, even if articles of impeachment were filed against Alito, there’s no way Senate Republicans would ever vote to convict him, even if the evidence against him was overwhelming.

So instead of having an independent Supreme Court, we currently have six conservative members who think the law applies to everyone but them, Donald Trump, and any other Republican whose legal filings come before them. That does not bode well for the future of the American republic.

WATCH Jamie Raskin Shut Down ‘Deranged’ James Comer: ‘You Need Therapy’

A House Oversight Committee hearing erupted into shouting and insults today when two members of the panel, Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and James Comer (R-KY) clashed over the issue of Republican attempts to impeach President Joe Biden despite their complete lack of any evidence proving high crimes and misdemeanors.

Raskin noted that Republicans had accused Biden of taking bribes but have yet to offer any proof to support their specious accusation.

“It has obviously been dropped, and yet this was the genesis of our investigation.”

Comer interrupted, “That is just simply not true, but go ahead and finish your story.”

“Oh, I agree you have been talking about bank statements for more than a year, but they don’t show anything other than there was no crime,” Raskin continued.

“Do you want to move for impeachment today?” Raskin asked. “Because I thought that that was your main agenda item.”

“You all need therapy, Mr. Raskin.”

“No, you need therapy,” Raskin insisted. “You’re the one who’s involved with the deranged politician, not me, okay?”

“I’ve divorced myself from Donald Trump a long time ago,” Raskin added. “You’re the one who needs to disentangle from that situation.”

The purpose of the bogus impeachment inquiry aimed at President Biden was simple: To try and deflect from the laundry list of legal issues confronting disgraced former president Donald Trump, who is facing 91 felony counts on charges ranging from fraud to stealing classified documents and storing them at Mar-a-Lago.

As Congressman Raskin rightly pointed out, the GOP needs to disentangle from its associations with Trump. But they won’t, and that could lead to a landslide loss by Republicans come November.

Jamie Raskin Burns Down Republicans At Their Latest Sham Impeachment Hearing

The House Oversight and Reform Committee was in session again today, so Republicans could try and convince themselves and the public that they haven’t wasted the last several months trying to find impeachable offenses committed by President Joe Biden.

Of course, no high crimes or misdemeanors have been found, but that hasn’t dissuaded the GOP from their bogus hearings in a hopeless attempt to try and slag President Biden so voters won’t focus on the fact that the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, Donald Trump, is on the hook for 91 criminal charges, including being part of the Jan. 6, 2021 attempt to overturn the 2020 election.

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) is the committee’s ranking member, and his opening remarks should be played and replayed for everyone on the planet to hear.

“The impeachment bus is running on empty,” Raskin began.

Focusing his attention on a GOP witness, Tony Bobulinski, Raskin noted, “Mr. Bobulinski made his hazy allegations against the Bidens public for the first time at a press conference choreographed by the Trump for President campaign, which provided him a gaggle of journalists and even a dress shirt that they went out and bought for him to wear to the event.”

“Hours later, Mr. Bobulinski points to the second 2020 presidential debate as Donald Trump’s personal guest, where he was seated with Kid Rock and Mark Meadows.”

For a criminal referral to the Department of Justice, Raskin continued, you need evidence.

“Criminal referrals require evidence of crime. And the only crimes we have seen are those of the GOP’s own star witnesses alike, Russian asset Alexander Smirnov, Chinese agent Gal Luft, Devin Archer, and Jason Galanis.”

A witness for Democrats, Lev Parnas, would shine a “piercing light” on the real motive of Republicans, Raskin asserted.

“And he has reason to note that he, too, used to be a MAGA, peddling lies and disinformation to smear Joe Biden. Today, he joins a long line of self-exiled from Trump World who could no longer stomach all the corruption” 

While Republicans love to proclaim their support for Donald Trump, their sham impeachment hearings are all the proof needed that they don’t have a damn thing other than a desperate need to divert public attention from the organized crime member they so lovingly refer to as the leader of their party. The fact that they continue to walk lock-step with Trump will hopefully consign them to being the permanent minority party in this country.

‘Demoralized’ House Republicans Trying To Recover After Their Biden Impeachment Debacle

Six months ago, House Republicans announced they were starting an impeachment inquiry into alleged “high crimes and misdemeanors” committed by President Joe Biden which they claimed would result in his removal from office.

Now, however, it appears Republicans have nothing to show for their efforts except a hell of a lot of egg on their faces, with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) making it clear this week that he has no interest in bringing the matter to the floor of the House for an impeachment vote that would fail in humiliating fashion.

According to McKay Coppins of the Atlantic, the mood of GOPers in Congress has grown exceedingly dark.

Coppins was a guest on MSNBC’s “The Weekend” earlier today, and he explained,  “I think the White House smelled blood in the water, right? They saw Republicans were losing their will to continue with this.”

“I mean, you talk to Republicans on the Hill and they know that this is over, right?” he continued. “A lot of them knew it was a farce from the beginning but they were going along and saying what we can we dredge up? It was a fishing expedition on how to hurt President Biden during an election year but their star witness has fallen apart.”

Coppins added, “The impeachment has fallen apart in pretty embarrassing fashion. That’s why you see people like Rep. Ken Buck (R-CO) just kind of completely demoralized. By all accounts, the [GOP] House conference was especially demoralized and embarrassed. You see Republicans wanting to retire and leave. I think the White House saw that.”

Just like everything they do in lieu of actually governing, today’s Republican Party is nothing but a vehicle for petty grievances, political payback, and childish whining. In other words, they’re just like the clown they’ve allowed to hijack their party and are preparing to nominate as their presidential candidate for the third time.

Ex-Prosecutor: Jordan May Be ‘In League’ With FBI Informant Busted For Russia Ties 

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) may be part of a larger conspiracy to spread Russian lies about President Joe Biden as part of a campaign to benefit Donald Trump, according to former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner.

Speaking with MSNBC host Ayman Mohyeldin, Kirschner was asked about the recent arrest of Alexander Smirnov, who was taken into custody after being accused of lying to the FBI.

“Were the Republicans in league or incompetent?” Kirschner asked. “It’s one or the other. And here’s the thing. There’s a lot to dislike, sort of every link of the chain here. First of all, the FBI writes down lots of things that human informants and confidential informants say. That doesn’t mean it is necessarily true. Yes, they record it in a form, 1023, but they write it down. It doesn’t mean it’s verified, it doesn’t mean it’s accurate, it doesn’t mean it’s reliable. Once they receive it, they have to go about the hard work of corroborating it, or debunking it. And it sounds like the FBI never corroborated, and indeed, ultimately debunked this disinformation.”

Kirschner added:

“So why this debunked Russian disinformation would then be handed off to Republican members of Congress to be used as the basis to impeach an American president is mystifying, Ayman. And look, let’s use Jim Jordan as an example. You played a clip of him appearing to double down, even though he now knows it’s Russian disinformation, and Smirnov has been indicted for lying to the FBI about the Bidens. Jim Jordan is a serial abuser of his position and his authority. This is the guy who refused to comply with a lawfully issued congressional subpoena because had he complied and testified he might have incriminated Donald Trump.”

Everywhere you look, the GOP has ties to Russia and Russian propaganda which they have tried to use to destroy President Joe Biden and boost Donald Trump. Is it really so hard to believe the Kremlin owns and controls them?
