Greene Demands President Biden Give Up Secret Service Protection After Nashville School Shooting

It’s another dark day in the United States, with yet another mass shooting at a school, leaving six dead.

CNN reports from the scene in Nashville:

At least three students and three adults are dead following a shooting at the Covenant School in Nashville, Tennessee, police said Monday.

“We now know that there are three students who were fatally wounded as well as three adults inside the school. We are working to identify those victims. Including the shooter, a total of seven persons were killed as a result of this morning’s incident at the school,” Don Aaron of the Metro Nashville Police Department said.

Five of the six shooting victims were transported, Aaron said. All those who were shot are dead, he added.

“Three students who were shot are deceased. Three staff members who were shot are deceased,” Aaron told reporters.

After the shooting, President Joe Biden remarked, “We have to do more to stop gun violence. It’s ripping our communities apart. It’s ripping at the very soul of the nation. We have to do more to protect our schools so they aren’t turned into prisons.”

But according to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), blame for the shooting lies with the president and he should give up his Secret Service protection immediately.

On Twitter, Greene posted this hateful screed:

“My prayers are with the victims and families at the Covenant School in Nashville. Another absolutely horrific needless tragedy. Children and school staff should always be protected the same way politicians, money, precious stones, and gold are protected, but even more so, by good guys with guns. Thank God for good guys with guns and thank God a good guy with a gun killed the evil mentally deranged shooter today. Joe Biden’s gun free school zones have endangered children at schools leaving them as innocent targets of sick horrible disturbed people ever since he worked as a Senator to pass this foolish law. What a fool. What a failure. Gun grabbers like Joe Biden and Democrats should give up their Secret Service protection and put themselves on the same level as our unprotected innocent precious children at school. School shootings should NEVER happen and will end immediately when our nations children are defended the same way Joe Biden is by good guys with guns!!! End this now.”

Of course, the president hasn’t grabbed anyone’s guns and doesn’t want to, either. What he wants is sensible gun reform laws and a ban on assault weapons. We had an assault weapons ban for 10 years, from 1994 to 2004, and the republic didn’t come crashing down during that time.

Greene’s tweet was met with resistance from others on Twitter.

WATCH Jim Jordan Have A Childish Meltdown During House Hearing On The Second Amendment

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) showed his ass and pitched a fit during a House hearing on guns and the Second Amendment today, whining about new restrictions being imposed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms, Tobacco and Explosives (ATF).

Specifically, the ATF has implemented a new rule which reclassifies any firearm with a pistol stabilizing brace as a short-barreled rifle, which means it requires a license for ownership. That led Jordan to go on an unhinged and childish rant aimed directly at the ATF, asking witness GOP witness Alex Bosco, founder and inventor of the stabilizing brace:

“So while they were doing their study they didn’t count the number of braces being sold? That’s probably because [Everytown for Gun Safety] told them not to count it, right?”

Bosco said he didn’t know the answer to the question, so Jordan answered it for him.

“They were talking to them all the time, putting this all together, going after people who support the Second Amendment. How many Americans do you think it is total? I’ve heard estimates as many as 40 million Americans could be impacted by this.”

After Bosco confirmed the 40 million number, Jordan continued his meltdown.

“Unless you remove the brace, lengthen the barrel, turn in or destroy your firearm or register your gun with this government that you know you can trust because Mr. Wilcox (of Everytown for Gun Safety) has been working with them. Unless you do those four things, what happens? What are you? A felon. A felon for something 10 years ago they said was just fine, that you built a business on, a business that you started because you wanted to help a man who put the uniform of his country on his back and served our country and was injured, and now they’re going to put you out of business and make people felons. But don’t worry, Everytown USA and Mr. Wilcox has been working with our government to implement this to target Americans who support the Second Amendment — such a deal, such a deal.”

“That’s why we need legislation to say this rule doesn’t — we need to pass that legislation,” Jordan added. “That’s what we do need to pass this law now, based on what has happened with this organization.”

WATCH Jon Stewart Eviscerate An Oklahoma Republican On The Issue Of Gun Control

Jon Stewart has had enough of Republicans who continually assert that more guns in the United States make us all safer, and he’s letting them know that he’s sick and tired of their bullshit.

On his AppleTV+ show “The Problem With Jon Stewart” this week, the host spoke with Oklahoma state Sen. Nathan Dahm (R), who immediately made it clear he doesn’t think the country needs any gun legislation.

“I’m a strong proponent of the Second Amendment. I believe the right to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”

Stewart reminded Dahm, “Oh, it’s also the one right that uses the phrase ‘well-regulated.'” He then added:

“I don’t want to ban guns. But you’re saying more guns makes us more safe. So, when? We got 400 million guns in the country. We had an increase, and gun deaths went up. So when exactly does this curve hit, that takes it down? Would a billion guns do it?”

Later in the discussion, Stewart asked the Oklahoma Republican:

“If you don’t have background checks, and you don’t have registration and permitting, how do you know who has a problem in terms of the people who you’re giving a gun to?”

“That’s your subjective opinion,” Dahm responded.

Stewart reminded Dahm:

“It’s not my subjective opinion. We have 50,000 gun-related deaths. That’s not a subjective opinion. That’s dead people.

“When the police go to a house filled with guns, why don’t they breathe a sigh of relief knowing that this Second Amendment that shall not be infringed is being exercised so fruitfully in this home?”

The former “Daily Show” host then asked Dahm why he had proposed a bill in his state to ban drag show readings in his state, to which the lawmaker retorted, “Because the government does have a responsibility to protect … children.”

That’s when Stewart won the debate and made Dahm look like a clueless fool:

“What you’re telling me, is that you don’t mind infringing free speech to protect children from this amorphous thing that you think of. But when it comes to children that have died, you don’t give a flying fuck to stop that, because that shall not be infringed.

“That is hypocrisy at its highest order.”

Kyle Rittenhouse Facing Massive Financial Lawsuit From Victim He Shot In Kenosha

Though he was found not guilty for the murder of two men in Kenosha, Wisconsin back in 2020, Kyle Rittenhouse is now facing having to pay a massive financial settlement to a man he shot who survived and claims he is owed money for what he went through as a result of the attack.

Fox News reports that Gaige Grosskreutz is seeking economic losses, “damages for emotional distress, humiliation, loss of enjoyment of life, and other pain and suffering on all claims,” and punitive damages.

“Astonishingly, the Kenosha Police Department, Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, their supervising officials and police officers, and law enforcement officers from surrounding communities did not treat Defendant Rittenhouse or any of the other armed individuals patrolling the streets as a threat to the safety of themselves or the citizens they were sworn to protect,” states the lawsuit, which was obtained by Fox News Digital.

“Instead, the law enforcement Defendants deputized these armed individuals, conspired with them, and ratified their actions by letting them patrol the streets, armed with deadly weapons, to mete out justice as they saw fit,'” said the lawsuit filed Feb. 14 by attorneys Kimberley Motley of Motley Legal Services and E. Milo Schwab of Ascend Counsel.

Rittenhouse also shot two other men, Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, and Anthony Huber, 26, both of whom died.

At a trial held after the shootings, Rittenhouse claimed he acted in self-defense and was acquitted of homicide charges.

Asked about the new lawsuit, Rittenhouse said he’s ready “prove my innocence again,” but claimed it would come with a large price tag, an apparent attempt to get other to pay his legal expenses. He added:

“I guess it came as a shock to why he’s filing a lawsuit because he admitted that he pointed a gun in my face and that he chased me down.”

Grosskreutz, however, claims he “approached with his hands in the air to try to ease the situation and stop the killing.”

Right-Wingers Pitch A Conniption Fit After Bette Midler Criticizes Kyle Rittenhouse

The fact that conservatives and right-wingers so eagerly embrace and defend those who have been accused and/or convicted of horrible crimes tells you everything you need to know about those who claim to be the party of “law and order.”

Here’s a few examples:

  • Donald Trump: Accused of dozens of rapes and sexual assaults. Convicted on 17 counts of tax fraud.
  • Michael Flynn: Pled guilty of lying to the FBI and later pardoned by none other than Donald Trump.
  • Steve Bannon: Accused of fraud and given a last-minute pardon by Trump. Later convicted of contempt of Congress for refusing to obey a subpoena from the January 6 House Select Committee.

This same blatant hypocrisy also applies to Kyle Rittenhouse, who was accused and later acquitted of shooting and killing two men in Kenosha, Wisconsin who were merely protesting the brutal treatment of blacks by police in the United States.

After his acquittal, Rittenhouse became a cause célèbre of the pro-Second Amendment absolutists who think nothing of carrying assault rifles and other weapons to the grocery store just to buy a gallon of milk and loaf of bread.

So it should come as no surprise that when Bette Midler dared to post a tweet slamming Rittenhouse and his family using the same terminology right-wingers use against LGBTQ Americans, there would be a massive online meltdown among conservatives.

Here’s Midler’s tweet:

It hasn’t yet been confirmed that the kid in the photo Midler shared is actually Kyle Rittenhouse, but it’s still a legitimate commentary about the pro-gun crazies in this country.

Midler’s posting was all it took for right-wingers to have a complete hissy fit online, even though their comments only served to reinforce the point Midler was making.
