Rudy Giuliani Was Given Secret Service Protection On January 6 – Why?

The House select committee investigating what transpired at the U.S. Capitol on January 6 is holding its first public hearing today, and it’s expected most of the testimony will come from police officers serving in the departments that were called to protect the Capitol on that fateful afternoon.

But in the days and weeks yet to come, there will be many more hearings — some public and some held behind closed doors for security reasons — that will widen the scope of inquiry for the committee and hopefully provide us all with more information about what happened that day and how we can prevent such a horrific event from taking place again.

Just Security had two former U.S. Attorneys (Barbara McQuade and Joyce Vance) sit down with Ryan Goodman, who serves as co-Editor-in-Chief of Just Security, and come up with questions that need to be asked by the committee.

At one point in their extensive document, we learn that on the day of the Capitol insurrection, former President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, was given Secret Service protection, which is highly unusual. That led to these questions:

“Are you aware that Rudy Giuliani received Secret Service Protection on Jan. 6? Were you aware of communications as to whether he should receive Secret Service Protection? What senior U.S. officials were involved in that decision? Were you aware of anyone raising concerns about whether it was appropriate to provide Secret Service protection to someone so far outside the ambit of normal protectees?”

We have this information thanks to a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by public advocacy group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW):

Giuliani played a key role in the buildup to the Capitol riots, giving a speech with then-President Donald Trump’s blessings in which he urged the crowd:

“Let’s have trial by combat!”

Giuliani will likely be called (or subpoenaed) by the select committee, and considering the fact that he received Secret Service protection on the very same day he basically called for the violent overthrow of the government, he damn well should be.

But why was that protection afforded to him, and who ordered it? Only a few high-ranking White House officials could have made such a request of the Secret Service.

The fact that Giuliani was given such enhanced security suggests that the person or persons who thought that necessary knew in advance that actions were planned which would put him at risk, and that points to a larger conspiracy that may well reach all the way to the Oval Office.

The House select committee has its hands full. But as McQuade and Vance rightly suggest, they shouldn’t be satisfied until they get the answers the American people deserve.

Fox News Hypocritically Whines That ‘Ambushing’ Tucker Carlson In Montana Was ‘Totally Inexcusable’

According to Fox News, no one should ever approach one of their employees and exercise his or her First Amendment right to speak their mind the way a man in Montana did over the weekend when he ran across Fox host Tucker Carlson in a fly fishing shop.

The interaction, which featured Carlson and a man identified as Dan Bailey, went viral online, with Bailey telling Carlson:

“You are the worst human being known to mankind. I want you to know that.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bzGGzkCpI0

Fox News gave a statement to Mediaite regarding the video in which they wrote:

“Ambushing Tucker Carlson while he is in a store with his family is totally inexcusable — no public figure should be accosted regardless of their political persuasion or beliefs simply due to the intolerance of another point of view.”

The problem with that statement is that it could not possibly be more hypocritical, as Amanda Terkel of HuffPost notes. Terkel was ambushed by Jesse Watters of Fox News back in 2009 and recalled that event:

“Fox News is outraged when their big-name hosts are ambushed, but it is totally fine with its big-name hosts doing the ambushing. Ambushes were a central part of the show of Bill O’Reilly, who was Fox’s most prominent host for years. (He left in 2017, under the disgrace of a series of sexual harassment allegations.)

“Fox News also continued to promote Jesse Watters, O’Reilly’s henchman who went out and did many of the ambushes. In 2009, O’Reilly sent Watters out to harass me while I was on vacation for the weekend in Virginia.”

Terkel complained to Fox when Watters harassed her. What was their reaction? Bupkis. They gave her silence in return for her complaint:

“There was no outrage that I was accosted while going about my personal life, simply because O’Reilly didn’t like that I pointed out that he had made gross comments about a woman who was raped.”

Apparently, Fox only gives a damn when one of their propagandists is approached and told how the public feels. That’s one hell of a double standard, but it’s to be expected from conservatives, who are the biggest bunch of whiny-assed little daffodils in the world. They can dish it out, but when it comes back in their direction, they get their feelings hurt and complain.

Attention Fox News and Tucker Carlson: As Harry Truman once said, If you can’t stand the heat, get the hell out of the kitchen!

Congress Domestic Terrorism GOP GOP Whining Justice Department

Gaetz Says He’s Afraid The Jan. 6 Commission Will Make Criminal Referrals To DOJ

During an appearance on Newsmax, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) sounded incredibly worried what the House Select Committee on the January 6 Capitol insurrection will find that might result in criminal charges being brought against GOP members of Congress.

Gaetz said he believes the real purpose of the committee is to gather evidence for criminal referrals to the Justice Department:

“I think the entire purpose of the Jan. 6 committee is to create a series of criminal referrals to the Biden Justice Department. And I think [House Minority Leader] Kevin McCarthy is the lead target, unfortunately.”

While he was at it, Gaetz also said he believes that McCarthy should remove Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) from the committees they serve on now that they’ve agreed to be members of the 1/6 panel.

However, Gaetz then circled back to the idea of criminal referrals to the DOJ, as if laying the groundwork for charges that may be forthcoming against him and others in the GOP:

“I really do believe that the end goal of the Jan. 6 committee is to create a series of criminal referrals. And remember during the Russia hoax, a lot of the criminal process occurred not as a result of any underlying federal criminal law but instead as a result of these process crimes.

“Kevin McCarthy better hope he never deleted an email or forwarded something to where it wasn’t saved,. Otherwise, there’s going to be an effort to use process crimes to try to jam up the Republican leadership.”

What Gaetz neglected to say is that so-called “process crimes” are still crimes and should be treated as such. Maybe they aren’t as serious as allegedly being involved in the sexual trafficking of a minor, but then again few things are as disgusting as what Gaetz is accused of doing with young girls over the years.

If none of the Republicans did anything wrong in connection with the Capitol riots, why do they sound so worried about getting to the truth? It’s almost as if they have something to hide.

Calls For Michael Flynn’s Arrest Grow After He ‘Jokes’ About Assassinating Someone In Washington, DC

Back in May, disgraced former national security adviser Michael Flynn suggested that it was time to stage a coup and reinstall Donald Trump in the White House, remarking when asked why a military coup such as the one that took place in Myanmar couldn’t happen in the United States. The retired Lt. General responded:

“I mean, it should happen.”

And now Flynn is again suggesting that violence needs to be visited on the nation’s capital.

On Sunday in Yuba, California, Flynn was presented with a semiautomatic rifle and told the audience:

“Maybe I’ll find someone in Washington, D.C.”

If you or I said something like that in public, there’s an excellent chance the FBI would pay us a visit and tell us to knock it off or we’d be standing in front of a federal judge, charged with a serious crime.

Why isn’t Flynn under arrest? That’s exactly what Twitter users want to know, too:

Michael Flynn is the lowest form of scum on the face of the planet. He’s a fake patriot who is constantly looking for new ways to destroy this country. For that alone he belongs behind bars for a very long time.

Don Jr. Attempts To Defend Tucker Carlson But Only Succeeds In Humiliating Himself

On Sunday, Donald Trump Jr. (a.k.a Traitor Tot) tried to defend his buddy Tucker Carlson who was castigated by a man in a viral video that showed the Fox host being taken to task for his lies about vaccines for COVID-19, but all Junior accomplished was proving what a gutless suck up he is.

In the video of Carlson, a man identified as Dan Bailey approaches the Fox host in a Montana shop and tells him:

“You are the worst human being known to mankind. I want you to know that.”

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bzGGzkCpI0

That led Don Jr. to post this ridiculous note on Twitter regarding the video:

Pregnant male emoji?! WTF does that even mean? Is Junior trying to say that Bailey is overweight? Has he taken a good look at his fat slob of a father lately? The failed, one-term president looks like he swallowed a pumpkin and wasn’t able to shit it out. He’s clearly tilting the scales at over 300 lbs.

All Junior accomplished was getting his own tweet squashed flat by others on social media:
