Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) thought he’d post a poll on Twitter in an attempt to troll public figures he disagrees with, but the Ohio congressman wound up with egg on his face.
But as HuffPost notes, Jordan isn’t exactly trustworthy, either:
“Jordan voted to overturn President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory and has amplified Trump’s election lies.”
Jordan has also been accused of failing to report the sexual abuse of wrestlers when he was an assistant coach at Ohio State University and the team doctor allegedly molested young OSU wrestlers.
It didn’t take long before social media slapped Jordan down:
"Trust" is such a strange thing for YOU to ask about. I wonder how many sexually assaulted wrestlers trust YOU to protect them, to support their emotional recovery, to TESTIFY about their abuse HONESTLY.
You are the LAST human being who should be asking anyone about "Trust."
An enormous class action lawsuit filed against former President Donald Trump and his three oldest children — Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka — will move forward despite pleas from the Trumps that the case be allowed to go to arbitration.
According to Courthouse News, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled Wednesday that the lawsuit, accuses the Trumps of running a pyramid scheme to hawk the services of American Communications Network, which allegedly ran a multilevel marketing scheme that bilked investors and never produced the financial returns it promised:
“Trump and three of his children — Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump and Ivanka Trump — appeared from 2005 to 2015 in promotional television ads, at events and in magazines touting American Communications Network, a telecommunications company that offers business seminars and encourages enrollees to bring in new recruits.
“In a 2018 federal class action, four investors who said they lost hundreds or thousands of dollars investing with ACN sought damages from the then-first family and their corporate entity, the Trump Organization, saying they concealed that ACN paid them handsomely for their endorsements.”
Here’s how the scheme worked: ACN made investors pay $499 up front so they could register with the promise that they could then earn commissions by selling products at “motivational rallies.” At those rallies, family and friends were shown a DVD to encourage them to pony up money for their share of a massive payday promised in ACN’s promotional materials, many of which featured the Trumps encouraging people to pay money so the could reap the rewards, which never materialized.
In the lawsuit, investors reported they made back “less than 10%” of their initial investment.
Much like another illegal scheme, Trump University, the only people who made money in the ACN/Trump deal were the principals: ACN and the Trump family.
A class action judgement against the Trumps could put a massive dent in their bottom line at a time when the Trump Organization is reportedly hemorrhaging money and the former president is unable to lure investors to his struggling real estate business.
The Trump Organization is also under criminal indictment for engaging in tax fraud over the course of decades. Those indictments were handed down earlier this month.
Bang the drum slowly and lower the flags to half-staff today because Jared Kushner is leaving the world of politics and starting an investment firm. In other words, he’ll be using other people’s money to enrich himself, much the same as he did while serving as an “adviser” in the Trump administration, a job he only managed to land because his father-in-law was president.
“Kushner, the former chief executive of Kushner Companies, who served as the Republican president’s senior adviser in the White House, is in the final stages of launching an investment firm called Affinity Partners that will be headquartered in Miami,. Kushner, who is married to Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, is also looking to open an office in Israel to pursue regional investments to connect Israel’s economy and India, North Africa and the Gulf, said two people briefed on the plan, who spoke on condition of anonymity.”
That’s an interesting list of countries Jared will be focusing on. But one nation is missing: Russia. As we’ve seen on multiple occasions, Russian President Vladimir Putin has always been fond of backing useful idiots who can help him engineer his destruction of the United States. Putin already has his hooks in the failed, one-term, twice-impeached former president who was only elected with the help of several Russia’s intelligence agencies.
So Jared is leaving the political world? That makes sense when you consider that he’s 1 for 2 on presidential races and lost the second election for his father-in-law by a record drubbing in the popular vote and even saw Georgia swing towards Democrats in both the general election and the special Senate runoff.
Twitter had some thoughts on Jared’s career change:
On Tuesday, as the first day of hearings began for the House Select Committee on January 6, a group of four Republican lawmakers decided they’d go to the Department of Justice building and protest the treatment of people arrested following the Capitol insurrection, whom they claim are “political prisoners.”
In attendance were Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA), Matt Gaetz (FL), Louie Gohmert (Texas), and Paul Gosar (AZ), The Hill reports:
“(Greene, Gaetz, Gohmert, and Gosar) were holding a news conference outside the DOJ to protest the treatment of individuals arrested in connection to the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, when counterprotesters arrived on the scene.
“One protester repeatedly blew a whistle during the event, and other demonstrators were holding signs that read ‘Jan 6th was an inside job, vets for democrats’ and ‘Traitors + Rapists: Sit Down,’ the latter likely referring to Gaetz, who is under investigation for an alleged sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl.”
The counterprotests were so loud and raucous that at one point a man announced:
“The left is interrupting the press conference, we need to end it.”
As the crowd was dispersing, a reporter repeatedly asked Gaetz:
Gaetz couldn’t walk fast enough to get away from the scene, and the question he was being asked came just hours after his future sister-in-law, Roxanne Luckey, posted a series of videos on TikTok in which she lambasted the Florida congressman, calling him “a literal pedophile.”
Roxanne Luckey, sister to large Republican donor Palmer Luckey and Ginger Luckey who is engaged to Congressman Matt Gaetz, is taking to TikTok to discuss Matt being a “literal pedophile”.
Gaetz is currently under federal investigation for allegedly being sexually active with an underage girl he trafficked across state lines, a crime which can carry a penalty of life in prison.
Gaetz, Greene, Gohmert, and Gosar are all trying their best to deflect attention from the fact that many in their party supported and continue to support the domestic terrorists who stormed the Capitol earlier this year. But all the distractions in the world won’t be able to paper over the fact that the current GOP is under the thrall of a monster named Trump and believes violence is more valuable than democracy.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) sounded worried (and guilty) on Tuesday morning as the January 6 Congressional committee began meeting, screeching during an appearance on Real America’s Voice with host Steve Bannon, suggesting that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) wants to put members of Congress in jail.
“The January 6 committee has started and this is [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi’s witch hunt. This is her final vendetta against the president that she hates with a passion. This woman is blind with rage and evil and she’s launching this political attack on all of us.”
And then the Georgia Republican went full paranoiac and claimed she knows that Pelosi wants to destroy her:
“I know for certain, I am one of her main targets. They want members of Congress in jail. And guess who that is?”
Sounds like Greene is worried, and considering that she may have played a role in the Capitol insurrection, she damn well should be.
While she was at it, Greene engaged in some revealing psychological projection, remarking:
“Nancy Pelosi is so warped in her thinking, she wants to put President Trump in jail. She wants to put Kevin McCarthy in jail. She’d like to put me in jail, Jim Jordan, Mo Brooks, Lauren Boebert. She’d like to put us in jail.”
As if that’s not bad enough, Greene also told Bannon that she’s putting together her own Jan. 6 “committee” that will include her and Reps. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) and Matt Gaetz (R-FL). Just imagine what a clusterfuck that’ll be!
