Donald and Melania Trump are now Floridians, residing at the former president’s Mar-a-Lago resort.
But according to CNN, before her husband left office, the former first lady wanted to know if she could get more goodies and have taxpayers foot the bill for them:
Budget and staff? Really? Haven’t she and her husband fleeced the Treasury out of enough money already?
“The short answer is no. While there are post-presidential perks for such things for the outgoing commander in chief, budgets to set up an official office and staff and cover some travel costs, there is nothing from the government for any first lady, save a paltry $20,000-a-year pension, which is paid out only if her husband dies.”
All of this led to some interesting commentary on Twitter:
As the old saying reminds us, A grifter is always gonna grift.
Lara Trump has virtually no accomplishments other than being married to failed, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump’s son, Eric, who is ostensibly the “executive vice president” of the Trump Organization, which is reportedly hemorrhaging millions of dollars and could well be on the verge of complete financial collapse.
Despite her lack of any real credentials except marrying into the Trump family, Lara has been hired as a Fox News contributor and often shows up to pontificate on subjects she has zero knowledge of.
Such was the case when she was speaking with host Ainsley Earhardt on the topic of President Joe Biden’s son, Hunter, daring to sell artwork he’s produced, according to Mediaite:
The controversial son of President Joe Biden has been selling artwork for five and six-figure sums, despite the fact that he has little experience, training, or standing in the art world. This has raised a reasonable set of ethical questions regarding his ties to the White House, which has taken pains to set up âsafeguardsâ in an attempt to avoid the appearance of impropriety.
Actually, Donald Trump was impeached for blackmailing the Ukrainians for dirt on Joe Biden and then for inciting an insurrection at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.
Lara then added this bit of head-shaking stupidity:
What Lara Trump neglected to mention is that Ivanka Trump was given trademark privileges by the Chinese government while there was a trade war taking place between the U.S. and China. At the time, she was serving as a senior White House adviser.
Oh, and let’s not forget that Eric and Don Jr. were running the Trump Organization while their father was president and that the ex-president never divested himself from his company.
There can be a legitimate debate about Hunter Biden and his paintings, but Lara Trump sure as hell isn’t the person who needs to lead that discussion.
One of Donald Trump’s signature issues and campaign promises when he ran for president in 2016 was that he’d build a wall on the U.S.-Mexico border and make the Mexican government pay for it.
Here’s a quick video memory refresher:
However, as soon as construction began on the wall, it soon became clear that some unanticipated problems would require solutions, according to former Trump administration Department of Homeland Security Miles Taylor in a soon-to-be-released book he’s written, Blowback: A Warning to Save Democracy From the Next Trump
According to Newsweek, one of the most daunting challenges involved cattle.
In his book, Taylor recalls that in a March 7, 2019, meeting, Trump “out of nowhere” complained that ranchers in Texas were being allowed to open doors in the border wall to allow their cattle to reach the Rio Grande.
“No doors. I don’t want doors,” Trump said, according to Taylor. “How crazy is this? There are doors in the border wall? It’s stupid. They can just walk up, open the door, and thousands of [illegals] rush in.”
Kirstjen Nielsen, then the homeland security secretary, told Trump that this wasn’t true, Taylor writes. But Trump “didn’t care” and ordered them to acquire any land where ranchers had access to the Rio Grande.
But if you build a wall with no doors, how in the world will the cattle be able to go across?
Trump’s solution: Have the animals cross via ladders.
Taylor says the idea was “so incandescently stupid I couldn’t laugh.”
How do you tell a moron with no understanding of basic physics and the animal world that cows and horses are not going to climb ladders, no matter what’s waiting for them on the other side?
Of course, none of this should surprise anyone when you consider some of the other moronic ideas the Donald had while serving as president. For example:
And now we can add cows traversing ladders. The idiocy has no bottom with Donald Trump.
Ever since Fox News wound up having to shell out $787.5 million to Dominion Voting Systems for lying about the 2020 election, it seems that hosts at the network have been much more willing to question the bullshit that their Republican guests spew.
Case in point, Fox News host Arthel Neville, who asked Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) why the GOP-controlled House doesn’t bother to investigate the hundreds of millions of dollars Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump made while Donald Trump was president.
The discussion began when Burchett noted that he believed the family of President Joe Biden had laundered at least $10 million while Biden was vice president.
That’s when Neville asked about the Trumps.
“But I do want to mention this, that absolutely, according to the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, on record, Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump made up to $640 million while her father was in office, and they were official advisers to the president,” Neville noted. “If you would explain to our viewers why the Hunter Biden scenario is different.”
Burchett asserted that the earnings of Jared and Ivanka “were not hidden,” adding, “That was business dealings that they were doing, and they are business people. Whether it was, I think that that should be looked at as well.”
Neville: “So if the problem is corruption and compromise, wouldn’t any income of such of that substantial amount be problematic for our country while someone is in office and their family members are receiving those sorts of payments?”
The congressman replied, “I think so. There’s there should be no stone left unturned. But apparently, this is one that they refuse to even look at.”
Don’t hold your breath waiting on Republicans to investigate the many alleged criminal actions of the Trump family while Daddy Don was in office. They don’t plan to. Not now and not ever.
A lawsuit filed by a former aide to Rudy Giuliani accuses the former New York City mayor of selling presidential pardons and splitting the profits of those sales with indicted former president/sex offender Donald Trump.
The Independent reports that the suit was filed in a New York court on Monday, alleges that Giuliani bragged that he had sold pardons from Trump and made a cool fortune from the endeavor.
A former aide to former Trump attorney Rudolph Giuliani says he told her the ex-New York City mayor and then-president Donald Trump were offering to sell presidential pardons for $2 million apiece, according to court documents.
The bombshell allegation was levied in a complaint filed against Mr Giuliani by Noelle Dunphy, a New York-based public relations professional who is suing him for âunlawful abuses of power, wide-ranging sexual assault and harassment, wage theft, and other misconductâ committed while she worked for him in 2019 and 2020.
(Giuliani) also asked Ms. Dunphy if she knew anyone in need of a pardon, telling her that he was selling pardons for $2 million, which he and President Trump would split. He told Ms. Dunphy that she could refer individuals seeking pardons to him, so long as they did not go through âthe normal channelsâ of the Office of the Pardon Attorney, because correspondence going to that office would be subject to disclosure under the Freedom of Information Act.
If indeed Trump did agree to sell pardons with Giuliani’s help, the two could be facing enormous legal jeopardy, especially if Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith decides to pursue the accusations found in Dunphy’s lawsuit.
Smith is currently investigating if Trump committed crimes connected to the 2020 election and his removal of classified documents from the White House which he later took with him to his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
