Trump’s Latest Legal Argument Could Disqualify Him From Serving Even If He’s Reelected

A legal filing made this week by attorneys representing failed one-term, twice-impeached, and multiply-indicted ex-president Donald Trump to keep him on the 2024 ballot in Colorado contains odd language that could allow him to run for the presidency but automatically disqualify him from serving even if he wins, according to former U.S. Attorney Barbara McQuade.

During an appearance on MSNBC this morning, McQuade was asked by host Mika Brzezinski:

“What are your thoughts on whether the Supreme Court actually takes it, the timing of it, and also how the Trump team created their petition, what they led with versus what Donald Trump is accused of, therefore making him ineligible to be on the ballot?”

“Yes, I think the court will have to take up the case. Whether it decides it on the merits, I think, is another question,” McQuade responded. “I do agree with one of the things he wrote in his brief, which is, this is a matter of significant importance that must be decided urgently. I think that as we see all of these other primaries starting to play out across the country, starting this month, I think it is very important that this issue be resolved.”

She added: “The lead argument that he makes here is one I haven’t heard before. You know, he’s got all the greatest hits in there: the 14th Amendment doesn’t apply to the U.S. president, this wasn’t an insurrection. Even if it was, he didn’t engage in it, all the things we might expect.”

“One he led with that is interesting to me is that the 14th Amendment only bars someone from holding office, not running for office,” McQuade noted. “Therefore, he should be permitted to run, be elected, and only on January 20th of 2025, should it be said, ‘Sorry, folks, he can’t serve.'”

After laughing, McQuade continued, “You know, that sounds like a textualist argument, and maybe the court bites on it, but imagine the absurdity? He can’t serve, so his vice president is the president of the United States. Maybe that’s how we’ll see the court play out.”

“I do think the court is likely to take an off-ramp. A more likely off-ramp, I think, is one that says this is not a justiciable argument, that is, this is a matter for Congress, not the courts to decide. So that might be one that they bite on.”

Tom Cotton Endorses Trump – And Immediately Gets Reminded Of His Own Anti-Donald Tweets

Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) formally endorsed failed former president Donald Trump for the 2024 election earlier today, but the statement he issued was immediately undercut by previous criticisms he aimed at the Donald.

Cotton made his endorsement on Twitter/X.

“When Donald Trump was president, America was safe, strong, and prosperous. The economy was booming, working-class wages were growing, our border was secure, and our enemies feared us. With Joe Biden as president, everything has gone to hell: families can’t afford groceries, our border is wide open to a full-blown invasion, and our enemies are starting wars everywhere. I endorse President Trump and I look forward to working with him to win back the White House and the Senate so we can help hardworking Arkansans suffering from Joe Biden’s disastrous policies. It’s time to get our country back on track.”

But as attorney Adam Cohen noted, Cotton sure didn’t feel that way back in 2020.

Others then joined the online thrashing of Cotton.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Throws Her Son Under The Bus When Asked About Her Questionable Stock Trades

Now that she’s been caught making a cool fortune off stock trades conducted since she became a member of Congress, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is blaming her son for the trades which she claims she knew nothing about.

According to Newsweek, controversy over Greene’s trading in the stock market was sparked by a report posted Tuesday by a group that monitors the stock market.

Unusual Whales, a market analysis group, published a report on Tuesday showing the members of Congress who obtained the most profits trading in the stock market in 2023. “Like every year since 2020, U.S. politicians beat the market,” Unusual Whales wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“And many in Congress made unusually timed trades resulting in huge gains,” the group said, posting a graph showing “the top performers” of last year.

The controversial Georgia Republican showed up on the list from Unusual Whales, and it sounds like she’s done extremely well for herself.

Greene was one of the names in the group’s list, which included a total of 100 trading members of Congress. The Georgia Republican was placed along the middle of the list, with 18.6 percent of returns on her trading, according to Unusual Whales. The highest profits were gained by Democrat Brian Higgins of New York, with 238.9 percent of returns, followed by Republican Mark Green of Tennessee, with 122.2 percent.

But when Greene was asked about being on the list by Fox host Jesse Watters, she claimed she knew nothing about the trades.

“I actually asked my team about that today—why my name was on the list—because I don’t even own any stocks and I haven’t in all of 2023,” she said.
“As a matter of fact, we have to report everything, including children who are dependent of ours,” Greene added. “And I think what was reported was actually related to my son’s account that his father and I set up for him years ago.”

Greene’s willingness to lay blame on one of her kids set off a wave of mockery and disgust on Twitter/X.

Alex Jones Is Worried Trump’s Name Will Be On The Epstein Island Flight Logs

With the flight logs showing who traveled with the late sex offender Jeffrey Epstein being released today, some on the right are worried that failed former president Donald Trump may have gone to an island where underage girls were forced to engage in sex with men.

News.com.au reported on the flight logs.

Old flight logs revealing that former Presidents Bill Clinton and Donald Trump took trips on Jeffrey Epstein’s famed “Lolita Express” jet resurfaced Monday, on the anticipated eve of the bombshell court records dump expected to reveal hundreds of names tied to the financier’s sex-trafficking ring.

The 42nd and 45th commanders-in-chief were exposed as some of the high-profile passengers who rubbed elbows with the pedophile when the logs were released two years earlier during convicted madam Ghislaine Maxwell’s trial.

[…]

Trump took at least seven trips on a private plane between 1993 and 1997, sometimes with members of his family.

Then-real estate developer Trump and Epstein were known associates at the time and were regularly seen together at formal events.

The logs, however, do not indicate that Trump or Clinton ever visited Epstein’s island in the Caribbean, the centre of his international sex-trafficking ring.

One of those who fears Trump could be named as an known associate of Epstein’s is right-wing podcaster/conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who said Monday the CIA would probably alter the records so that Trump’s name will appear on them.

“But if they put out a client list, and that’s possible that it could be fake, because Epstein’s dead,” Jones said. “And that’s something very possible. So we’ll have to decide, is it a fake list they put in, because the CIA was in charge of that with Mossad and MI6, all three of those groups that’s come out were running it.”

Jones also said that if Trump is revealed as a client who had sex with underage girls, he will withdraw his support for him.

“I will say this, if it turns out Trump ever went to Epstein Island, I will remove any support from him. But I know Roger Stone very well, and I know people that know Trump well, a lot of people, I’ll leave it at that. I know women that have dated Trump, prominent women.”

While he was at it, Jones couldn’t resist throwing mud at people he knows nothing about.

“But these creepy old globalists, they’re into kids, because they like the evil of it, the power of it. And then they show pictures of Trump’s daughter sitting in his lap, and they go, oh, look, he’s a pervert.”

Here’s a prediction you can take to the bank: Even if Trump’s name is on the list of those who flew to the controversial island, Jones and 99% of all Trumpers will still support him. Why? Because they’re in a freaking cult!

Liz Cheney Has The Perfect Clapback To Trump’s Latest J6 Conspiracy Theory

It took former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) just a few lines on social media to completely destroy failed former president Donald Trump’s latest nonsensical conspiracy theory regarding the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and her response is almost guaranteed to enrage the Donald.

Trump is now claiming that Cheney and the January 6 House Select Committee of destroying evidence that would prove he didn’t play any role in the Capitol insurrection.

On Monday, Trump posted a bizarre alternative reality blast on his failing Truth Social site.

“Why did American disaster Liz Cheney, who suffers from TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome), and was defeated for Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressman or Congresswoman in the history of our Country, ILLEGALLY DELETE & DESTROY most of the evidence, and related items, from the January 6th Committee of Political Thugs and Misfits. THIS ACT OF EXTREME SABOTAGE MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY LAWYERS TO PROPERLY PREPARE FOR, AND PRESENT, A PROPER DEFENSE OF THEIR CLIENT, ME. All of the information on Crazy Nancy Pelosi turning down 10,000 soldiers that I offered to to guard the Capitol Building, and beyond, is gone. The ridiculous Deranged Jack Smith case on Immunity, which the most respected legal minds in the Country say I am fully entitled to, is now completely compromised and should be thrown out and terminated, JUST LIKE THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS DID TO THE EVIDENCE!”

As with nearly everything Trump says, his latest bullshit claim has already been thoroughly debunked by the Washington Post on two separate occasions, with the Post noting:

As we have documented before, President Donald Trump never requested 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the Capitol that day. He threw out a number, in casual conversation, that is now regarded by his supporters as a lifeline to excuse his inaction when a mob inspired by his rhetoric invaded the Capitol.

Cheney had the perfect response to Trump’s nonsense.

Other Twitter/X users then joined the ridicule.

Trump sounds terrified, and he should be. Special Counsel Jack Smith has the goods on him.
