Donald Trump Elections Melania Trump

Could Trump’s ‘Melania Problem’ Destroy His Plans To Run In 2024?

If he does indeed decide to seek the White House again in 2024, failed, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump may just have do it solo, because Melania Trump is reportedly not the least bit interested in being first lady for a second time.

CNN’s Kate Bennett said recently on “Inside Politics” that Melania is telling friends she’s sick and tired of being an accessory for Donald:

“Not unlike 2016, Melania Trump has no intention really of joining the campaign or being a prolific presence. I’ve spoken to people who said that she’s not really even interested in being in the White House again, going through being first lady again.”

Bennett then added that Melania doesn’t want the spotlight that comes along with the public life of a first lady:

“We know she’s an extremely private person and that being in the public eye wasn’t necessarily something she wanted to do in the first place. She’s retreated now back to Mar-a-Lago, being a mom, et cetera, and she really has no interest in helping her husband with his perceived, as we all know, his political ambitions.”

That led host Kaitlan Collins to inquire:

“Is this not a conversation that’s happening?”

Bennett replied:

“I don’t think that’s how they operate. People are under the misconception that this is a couple that don’t spend time together, they don’t talk — it’s really not true. They have very independent lives but they do consult each other. In 2016 when she was asked to do events, asked to go on campaign events and rallies, the answer was ‘no’ so often that people on Trump’s campaign just stopped asking her because it was always going to be a no — and we’ll see that again this time around.”

It’s just as well. Melania Trump has almost no personality, usually seems bored, and butchers the English language when she does manage to say something. She comes across as cold and self-absorbed.

Will Trump even run again? That probably depends on what legal problems he’s facing at the time. And at the moment, it looks like he’s going to have quite a few of those.

Congress Social Media The Biden Administration U.S. Senate

Rob Reiner Said What We’re All Thinking About Sen. Joe Manchin

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) has become the proverbial skunk at the garden party, insisting that he wants drastic changes to the Democratic $3.5 trillion budget reconciliation package.

In an op-ed that was published by the Wall Street Journal, Manchin wrote:

“The nation faces an unprecedented array of challenges and will inevitably encounter additional crises in the future. Yet some in Congress have a strange belief there is an infinite supply of money to deal with any current or future crisis, and that spending trillions upon trillions will have no negative consequence for the future. I disagree.”

That led progressive congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to slam Manchin on Twitter:

And now award-winning actor and director Rob Reiner is weighing in on Manchin’s comments, and what he has to say perfectly encapsulates exactly what millions of us think anytime we hear that the West Virginia senator is standing in the way of legislation that would help the country.

Here’s the tweet Reiner posted:

Yep. That pretty much says it all. Why in the hell is Joe Manchin suddenly the most powerful man in Washington? He wasn’t elected to that position. Joe Biden was.

But with the Senate evenly divided 50-50 between Democrats and Republicans, Manchin has indeed become the spoiler, able to hold up anything he wants even when his “reasons” are complete bullshit.

Abortion Donald Trump Supreme Court

Trump Takes Credit For Texas Anti-Abortion Law And Sounds Like He Believes He’s Still POTUS

Now that the Supreme Court is finally ruling the way he wants them to, failed, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump is patting himself on the back so hard it’s a wonder he hasn’t dislocated his shoulder.

Speaking with Sharyl Attkisson of right-wing Sinclair Broadcasting, Trump beamed with pride as he took credit for the Supreme Court refusing to strike down the restrictive anti-abortion law that went into effect in Texas this week, remarking:

“We do have a Supreme Court that’s a lot different than it was. Before it was acting very strangely and I think probably not in the interest of our country.”

Keep in mind this is the very same Supreme Court that Trump chided with derision when they refused to take up any of the bogus election lawsuits filed by him and his allies when it became clear he had been badly beaten by President Joe Biden, tweeting in December of last year:

“This is a great and disgraceful miscarriage of justice. The people of the United States were cheated, and our Country disgraced. Never even given our day in Court!”

A month later, the loser former president was booted off Twitter permanently for his endless lies and conspiracy theories about the election.

While he was at it, Trump also told Attkisson that he was “studying” the high court’s ruling on the Texas abortion law:

“The ruling was very complex and also probably temporary. I think other things will happen and that will be the big deal and the big picture. So we’ll see what will happen. But we’re studying the ruling and we’re studying also what they’ve done in Texas.

“We’ll be announcing something over the next week or two weeks.”

Yeah, a guy who hates to read so much that his intelligence briefings had to be delivered with little more than charts and photos is going to be “studying” a Supreme Court ruling.

Be sure and catch the crap about “announcing” something over the next few weeks. This fool still thinks he’s president! Did he not get the memo? Does he think the White House has been moved to Florida and he’s still running the country? If so, it’s going to come as one hell of a surprise when he tries to board Air Force One and what’s waiting for him is one of his ancient jets with his name emblazoned on it. Provided, of course, he hasn’t had to sell all his planes to pay the loans that are coming due soon.

As usual, everything is all about Donald. That’s the way the world looks when you’re a delusional, addled old man who could well wind up spending the rest of his life in prison.

DOJ Warns: Sept. 18 MAGA Rally Is Part Of An ‘Ongoing Threat’ From Domestic Terrorists

The MAGA faithful are planning a return visit to Washington, D.C. on September 18, and the Department of Justice is already warning the planned rally could present a genuine threat to the U.S. Capitol.

According to NPR, the “Justice for J6” rally already has law enforcement on high alert:

“Due to increased security concerns over a September rally planned in support of the people arrested for storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, the Metropolitan Police Department will activate its entire force for that day. WUSA9 first reported the news Friday.

“In response to a request for details about the department’s security plan, an MPD spokesperson confirmed that the department will activate its force for the Sept. 18 rally — meaning sworn officers who typically have Saturdays off will be on-duty.”

That tracks with what the Justice Department said about the planned gathering, Scott McFarlane of NBC 4 notes:

“The ongoing threat to the U.S. Capitol is not hypothetical,” writes the DOJ. “The group organizing the rally is promoting the idea that the hundreds of people charged in the January 6 insurrection are political prisoners. Congress is scheduled to be in session during that time.”

Be sure and note that the rally organizers also claim the domestic terrorists who were arrested and charged for their part in the Jan. 6 riots which led to the deaths of five people are “political prisoners.” Apparently, when you try to overthrow the elected government of the United States, that doesn’t make you a criminal, it makes you a dissident.

The threat from those who refuse to accept the results of the 2020 election is indeed real and ever present. The Department of Homeland Security has classified them as the single-greatest terror threat we face in this country.

Let them have their rally later this month. But if they so much as step over a single line or wander into a restricted area, they should be met with overwhelming force and taken to the nearest jail.

Donald Trump Jr. The Karma Is Gonna Get Ya

Court Loss For Donald Trump Jr. Could Wind Up Costing Him A Fortune

Donald Trump Jr. loves to run his mouth and toss around insults aimed at others. But a slur he used against a West Virginia Senate candidate is now one step closer to costing him a lot of money.

Remember the name Don Blankenship? He’s the former head of Massey Energy, which owns and operates coal mines in the Mountain State. He ran for the Republican nomination to be a U.S. Senator from West Virginia and had previously been convicted of conspiring to violate safety standards at the Upper Big Branch mine, which is a misdemeanor.

When someone mentioned on Twitter that Blankenship would face a tough race against incumbent Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin, Junior replied:

“He’s probably never run against a felon.”

Even though Don Jr. later deleted the tweet, the damage had been done, and Blankenship filed a lawsuit for defamation. Why? Because he’s not a felon. He was convicted of a misdemeanor. Granted, that’s slicing it thin, but the suit was filed.

Since then, attorneys for Don Jr. have been trying to have the defamation suit dismissed, but a judge ruled recently that the suit will move forward, according to Jan Wolfe of Reuters:

https://twitter.com/JanNWolfe/status/1433206259650646017?s=20

The defamation suit is still active and will proceed, according to the judge. That’s bad news for Junior because he could be facing a considerable financial judgment if he’s found guilty of having defamed Blankenship.

Of course, Junior and other members of his family are also facing criminal charges for their allegedly illegal actions regarding the Trump Organization, including possibly being indicted for tax fraud and other financial crimes.

It was a bad day for Donald Trump Jr. And it appears he’s facing many more bad days in the months ahead.
