Ted Cruz Gets Obliterated By Fellow GOP Senator For His ‘Jackassery’ At Confirmation Hearing

Sen. Ben Sasse (R-NE) appeared to take a shot at his fellow GOP Senate colleague Ted Cruz (TX) during Wednesday’s confirmation hearing for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, who has been nominated by President Joe Biden to replace retiring Justice Stephen Breyer on the Supreme Court.

As he was questioning Judge Jackson, Sasse noted that he didn’t think it would be a good idea to have cameras in the high court:

“A huge part of why this institution doesn’t work well is because we have cameras everywhere. Cameras change human behavior. We know this. … There’s a whole bunch of things humans can do if they’re not immediately mindful of some distant camera audience that they might be trying to create a soundbite for.

“I think we should recognize that the jackassery we often see around here is partly because of people mugging for short-term camera opportunities, and it is definitely a second and third and fourth order effect that the court should think through before it has advocates in there who are not only trying to persuade you nine justices, but also trying to get on cable that night or create a viral video.”

Though he didn’t call Cruz out by name, the Texas Republican immediately looked up from his cell phone and stared at Sasse, clearly thinking the jibe had been directed at him.

Sasse’s remarks set off a wave of speculation on Twitter, with overall agreement that the Nebraskan had taken a shot at Cruz.

If indeed Sasse was aiming his comment at Cruz, he was merely speaking the truth. Ted Cruz has always been and will always will be one of the biggest jackasses on the face of the planet.

Twitter Points And Laughs As Ted Cruz Struggles To Climb Down From A Big Rig At Trucker Convoy Photo Op

Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz absolutely loves associating himself with right-wing assholes and their pathetic “causes.”

Perfect example: The so-called “People’s Convoy” of truckers who rolled into Washington, D.C. this week and began making laps around the Beltway in their 18-wheelers, burning untold gallons of diesel fuel in a moronic attempt to bring attention to COVID restrictions that have already been rolled back across the nation.

Cruz took a ride earlier this week with one of the lead big rigs as it went in circles, and he quickly found out that most motorists weren’t impressed by the fact that people from out of town came to crowd up their highways and slow down their rush hour commute:

The Texas Tribune reported on Cruz’s participation in the protest:

Wearing a green jacket and blue jeans, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz climbed off the passenger seat of a red 18-wheeler with two American flags flying on its truck bed that had driven into Washington, D.C., from northwest Maryland.

Moving toward a makeshift podium on U.S. Capitol grounds near a statue dedicated to naval soldiers who died defending the Union during the Civil War, Cruz joined organizers of a convoy of truckers who have driven across the nation in protest of vaccine and mask mandates — even as many of those mandates have already been lifted or blocked.

But perhaps the funniest thing to come out of the pathetically-attended trucker convoy was the sight of Cruz struggling mightily to climb down from one of the big rigs. Take a look at this video:

Look at the gut on Teddy! Is he deliberately putting on weight so he can appeal to the MAGA/Trump voters who are convinced that the morbidly obese ex-president only weighs 239 pounds? If so, it’s not a good look.

But the best thing about Cruz’s labored climb down from that truck are the comments it elicited on Twitter.

Ted Cruz Tried To Troll Jen Psaki With A Nickname But Only Wound Up Owning Himself

Some people never learn.

Take, for example, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), who loves to try and troll people he disagrees with, but almost always fails and winds up with egg on his face.

Such was the case Thursday when Cruz spoke at CPAC in Orlando, Florida, Mediaite reports:

 After referencing (White House Press Secretary Jen) Psaki, Cruz actually called out the audience out for not booing the mere mention of her.

The audience obliged.

“Boooo!”

“You know, Peppermint Patty deserves some love,” Cruz said, comparing Psaki to the character from Peanuts.

When a reporter referenced Cruz’s comments at the daily White House press briefing, Psaki had the perfect retort:

“Don’t tell him I like Peppermint Patty. So I’m not going to take it too offensively. Sen. Cruz, I like Peppermint Patty. I’m a little tougher than that, but there you go.”

Of course, Ted will never be able to live down his nickname, Cancun Cruz, so his only option is to try and divert attention from himself to someone else. Problem is, he looks like an asshole either way.

Ted Cruz Says It Should Be ‘Illegal’ For Biden To Nominate A Black Woman To The Supreme Court

Proving that he never tires of saying offensive and stupid things in order to prove his fealty to the extreme right-wing of the Republican Party, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) is now declaring that he believes it should be illegal for President Joe Biden to nominate a black woman to the Supreme Court.

Appearing on Fox News Sunday morning, Cruz suggested that Biden’s unwillingness to consider white men to replace Justice Stephen Breyer is discriminatory:

“Democrats today believe in racial discrimination, they’re committed to it as a political proposition. I think it is wrong to stand up and say we’re going to discriminate, this administration is going to discriminate. What the president said is that only African-American women are eligible for this slot. They said that 94% of Americans are ineligible.”

However, Cruz failed to mention that when Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg passed away, then-President Donald Trump pledged to replace her with another woman. Where was Cruz’s outrage that men weren’t being considered?

What the Texas Republican said next completely undercut the premise of his false outrage:

“I think our country has such a troubled history on race, we ought to move past discriminating based on race.”

Yes, the country does indeed have a troubled history on race, and since a black woman has never served on the highest court in the land, shouldn’t we try to make sure the Supreme Court more accurately reflects the current racial makeup of the United States?

Cruz ended his ridiculous rant by telling host Bill Hemmer:

“The way Biden ought to do it is to say I’m going to look for the best justice, interview a lot of people. And if he happened to nominate a justice who was an African-American woman, great. But you know what? If Fox News put a posting, we’re looking for a new host for Fox News Sunday and we will only hire an African-American woman or a Hispanic man or a Native American woman, that would be illegal. Nobody else can do what Joe Biden did.”

Sorry, Ted, but we can see right through your bigotry and narrowminded thinking. If you don’t approve of who the president nominates, vote against them. But please stop trying cloak your prejudice in a bogus cry for inclusion.

Ted Cruz Gets Hit With Blowback For Fundraising Email Claiming The FBI Orchestrated January 6

You probably recall that back during the 2016 race for the Republican presidential nomination, Donald Trump routinely insulted Texas GOP Sen. Ted Cruz and members of his family, insinuating that Cruz’s wife, Heidi, was ugly compared to Melania Trump and that his Cuban-born father had played a role in the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Cruz was outraged by those attacks on his family, but later paid homage to Trump at the Republican National Convention and has been a subservient lapdog for the Donald ever since.

As a matter of fact, Cruz has now adopted Trump’s tactics and is trying to raise money from a conspiracy theory that has been circulating all over right-wing media suggesting that the FBI planned and carried out the January 6 attack on the U.S.Capitol.

David Corn of Mother Jones reports:

A few days ago, Cruz sent out a fundraising email embracing the right-wing crackpot notion that the insurrectionist January 6 attack on the US Capitol was orchestrated by the FBI or another government agency. Hardcore Trumpists, most notably Fox host Tucker Carlson, have pushed the fact-free idea that the Deep State engineered the assault on Congress to discredit Trump and his political movement. And Cruz has rushed to the front of the loony train. 

The email reads:

“Did ANY FBI agents or confidential informants actively participate in the events that day? We know the FBI has been misused in the past to target President Trump and our conservative movement and run interference for the Democrats.”

We know that? Actually, we don’t, because there’s not a sliver of actual evidence to support such an absurd notion. But hey, who needs facts when you’re shearing cash from the gullible right-wing sheep that populate today’s Republican Party? Facts would only get in the way of the overall grift.

Later in that same email, Cruz adds more layers to the complex conspiracy theory he’s spinning in order to get as many greenbacks as possible:

“What are they trying to hide now about the events of January 6, 2021? I’m working hard to expose the full truth and shine a light on whether there was any FBI involvement on that day… and the liberal media can’t stand it!”

Got that? Cruz now has the FBI and the “liberal media” in the same wild fantasy he’s concocted for the sole purpose of getting people to shill out tens and twenties for his crusade against the evil enemy, even though that enemy consists of other Americans, some of whom work night and day to keep this country safe.

But Cruz didn’t get away with his ruse unscathed. He received plenty of blowback for his complex web of lies. Take a look:

Ted Cruz needs to be subpoenaed by the House Select Committee on Jan. 6. If he refuses to comply, that will prove he’s one of the insurrectionists and needs to be charged with multiple federal crimes.
