The so-called “Freedom Convoy” of truckers which began in Canada and has since shifted to the United States (and been renamed the “People’s Convoy,”) has been a miserable failure here in states, as only a few trucks continue to drive in circles (wasting valuable diesel fuel) around the Washington, D.C. beltway.
What’s even more absurd is that the convoy is still protesting since all of the COVID mandates (masks, vaccines) have been dropped, so it isn’t clear what exactly the point of driving around the nation’s capital could possibly be.
However, the few truckers who are still participating are now whining that their fellow motorists aren’t happy to see them and are often flipping them off with a middle finger.
Zachary Petrizzo of The Daily Beast posted a video on Twitter in which one of the truck drivers/protesters complains:
That same driver added:
How are you going to straighten out anything when you’re driving in circles for hours on end? As for getting it “cleaned up,” do the exhaust fumes from those big rigs help clean things up? Hardly.
Wouldn’t it be more productive of the truckers to park their rigs and go visit their members of Congress to discuss whatever grievances they have? Driving around and pissing off motorists is not exactly how you endear yourself to the average commuter.
Twitter users also had some thoughts on what the trucker had to say.
Quick: When you hear the name Kyle Rittenhouse, what image pops into your head? It’s probably the pudgy face of an 18-year-old gun nut weeping on the witness stand to pretend he actually felt bad about shooting and killing two unarmed men during protests in Kenosha, Wisconsin, in August of last year.
In other words, this is likely what comes to mind when you hear the name Kyle Rittenhouse:
But according to some right-wingers, the image that should actually occur to you is that of Jesus Christ.
Wait…what?!
Yes, according to Charlie Kirk, founder of Turning Point USA (think Hitler Youth with a devotion to Trump instead of Adolf), Rittenhouse is a great deal like all sorts of Biblical characters who were wrongly accused:
Charlie Kirk compared Kyle Rittenhouse to wrongly accused Bible characters “including Jesus Christ.” pic.twitter.com/pWwJF9aBxj
At the risk of betraying the goodwill that’s supposed to be a part of the Christmas season, this needs to be said in response to Charlie Kirk: Are you crazy?! Jesus and Kyle Rittenhouse are NOTHING alike. To even mention them in the same sentence is not only blasphemous, it’s the sort of shit that used to start holy wars and wound up causing hundreds of thousands of deaths.
Twitter was only too happy to correct Kirk and remind him that his knowledge of the Bible is non-existent, as is his so-called faith:
After Peter drew his sword and cut off a soldier’s ear, Jesus said unto Peter “Put down the sword. Those that live by the sword, die by the sword so use an AR-15 instead”
It’s so easy to upset conservatives and right-wingers. All you have to do is say something good about a member of the Biden administration or a Democrat in Congress and the extreme right begins frothing at the mouth and breathing fire.
For example, during a discussion of a back-and-forth at Friday’s White House press briefing between Fox News reporter Peter Doocy and press secretary Jen Psaki, there was a mention of President Joe Biden possibly paying a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border, to which Psaki said the president wouldn’t be going to the border for a “photo-op.”
That led Fox host Chris Wallace to praise both Doocy and Psaki, according to Mediaite:
“Honestly, as somebody who’s spent six years in the White House, my immediate reaction was those are two people at the top of their game,” Wallace said.
He praised Doocy for his tough questions and said, “I mean this as a compliment. I think he has become the Sam Donaldson of this White House press corps.”
Donaldson was famously aggressive in his questions to President Ronald Reagan when he was ABC News’ Chief White House Correspondent in the 80s.
“And since I was working in the press corps when Sam Donaldson was there, that’s a very grudging compliment on my part,” Wallace quipped. The Fox News Sunday anchor was NBC News’ Chief White House Correspondent during that time period.
He went on to say that Psaki “is one of the best press secretaries ever.”
Psaki is indeed very good at her job, and unlike her predecessors in the Trump administration, she holds a press briefing five days a week, Monday through Friday, and never begs off doing so just because she doesn’t want to answer tough questions on issues that impact the American people.
But based on the reaction Wallace received from conservatives and other assorted right-wing snowflakes, you’d have though he just said Donald Trump is a member of QAnon and drinks the blood of infants in order to maintain the tangerine tint to his skin.
You’ve probably never heard of Hank Kunneman, a right-wing pastor who bills himself as a “prophet” who predicted Donald Trump would win the 2020 election in a landslide.
When Trump lost to President Joe Biden, according to Right Wing Watch, Kunneman began claiming the election had been stolen from the failed, twice-impeached former president and proclaiming that God will “stand with” those who continue to support the most immoral man to ever be elected to the White House.
On Sunday, Kunneman was in rare form, insisting that “anyone with a brain” can see that Trump was victorious:
Why did Biden declare victory? That’s when you have to break out a tinfoil hat to even begin to follow the “logic” Kunneman employs:
So the devil is stronger than Kunneman’s god? If so, that’s not much of a deity the religious extremists are worshiping.
Hell is working to make us all blind to the truth, Kunneman continued, almost frothing at the mouth with each word he uttered:
The most powerful reason Trump must be reinstated, Kunneman added, is that if he isn’t, Democrats and the left (allied with Satan and Hell) are going to start taking your kids away from you and raping your wife:
Really? Well, Trump led the effort to get the COVID vaccine made in record time. Does that mean he’s working with the devil?
Oh, and as for taking your kids out of your home and raping your wife, it’s safe to bet Trump would be in favor of that, too. After all, he was accused of raping a 13-year-old girl with Jeffrey Epstein and once admitted that he was sexually attracted to his own daughter, Ivanka, when she was underage.
Also, let’s not forget that 26 women have accused Donald Trump of sexual misconduct, including rape.
Here’s a prophecy for Hank Kunneman: If you support a man as evil as Donald Trump, then you’re not much of a “Christian.” You’re just another con man trying to make a buck in the name of the only god you actually worship: The Almighty Dollar.
You probably heard that First Lady Jill Biden had surgery a couple of weeks ago for an injury she sustained while walking on a beach in Hawaii. Specifically, she had very simple procedure, as reported by USA Today:
“The first lady ‘underwent a successful procedure on her left foot to flush out debris from a puncture wound,” said Michael LaRosa, the first lady’s press secretary, in a pool report. ‘After inspection of the wound by medical staff, it is unclear what object caused the puncture. The wound is now clean, free of infection and it is anticipated that it will heal nicely.’
“The puncture took place last weekend, prior to her two official events in Hawaii, when the first lady stepped on an object on the beach, according to a previous pool report.”
However, when a photo came out of Mrs. Biden wearing an orthopedic boot, people wondered if perhaps the first lady had once again hurt her foot or was just wearing the device for stability. Only she and her doctor know for sure, and quite frankly none of us have a right to any other information.
However, in the absence of a press release from the White House, rumors began to take root on social media, where right-wing nutjobs decided that the boot was actually there to hide an ankle monitor.
Wait, what? Why would the first lady of the United States be wearing an ankle monitor? Well, if you listen to the QAnon/MAGA/Trumper fools who prowl the darkest corners of the internet, it’s all part of a big conspiracy involving secret crimes and cabals of Satan worshipers who like to eat the brains of children.
So, as you’d expect, the bullshit started right away, and it was just as fact-free and mind-numbingly absurd as you’d expect from fools who voted for a man as immoral and evil as Donald Trump.
Have you ever wondered if these conspiracy theory spewing idiots all live in the same town and get together regularly to coordinate their stupid tweets?
If they do, can we please cut the internet access to that location?
