Jen Psaki Smacks Down Fox’s Peter Doocy For Saying Americans Are ‘Stranded’ In Afghanistan

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki put Fox News reporter Peter Doocy in his place Monday when he attempted to suggest that the Biden administration is leaving Americans “stranded” in Afghanistan, despite the fact that the U.S. has already airlifted 40,000 Afghans and Americans out of the country so far.

After he let loose with his question/editorial comment, Psaki made it clear she wasn’t about to let Doocy use a question to spread lies, telling him:

“First of all I think it’s irresponsible to say ‘Americans are stranded.’ They are not. We are committed to bringing Americans who want to come home, home. We are in touch with them via phone, via text, via email, via any way that we can possibly reach Americans, to get them home if they want to return.

“No American is stranded.”

Doocy tried to push back on what Psaki said, but she immediately shot him down:

“I’m just calling you out for saying that we are stranding Americans in Afghanistan when we have been very clear that we are not leaving Americans who want to return home, we are going to bring them home and I think that’s important for the American public to hear and understand.”

Fox — along with right-wing “news” outlets Newmax and OAN — is looking for a way to attack the Biden administration anyway they can. They know his policies are popular with the American people, so they’re hoping to spread a lie that somehow Americans are being left behind in Afghanistan. They’re also conveniently neglecting to mention that the withdrawal began while failed, one-term former President Donald Trump was still in office.

Doocy was also pilloried on social media for his remarks:

For the next press conference, maybe Fox News can just send Wile E. Coyote and have him show off some of his wonderful wares directly from the Acme Corporation right before they explode and leave him picking up his teeth.

Jen Psaki Has The Perfect Comeback After Ron DeSantis Calls Biden A ‘Power-Hungry Tyrant’

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) wants to be president so damn badly! How badly? Enough so that he’s willing to let thousands of Floridians die of COVID-19 while he pretends that everything is just fine in the Sunshine State. He insists mask mandates won’t be allowed on his watch, no matter how many children and senior citizens wind up on ventilators and die in complete isolation, unable to see their families as they take their last, labored breath.

So it should come as no surprise that DeSantis would snipe at the current resident of the White House, President Joe Biden, simply because Biden made this remark on Wednesday while discussing the rise in COVID cases being seen in the states of Florida and Texas:

“I say to these governors: Please help. But if you aren’t going to help, at least get out of the way. The people are trying to do the right thing. Use your power to save lives.”

Biden is trying to save lives, even in Republican-controlled states, because he’s doing what he promised he’d do when he was running in 2020: Be a president for all Americans.

How did DeSantis react to Biden’s remarks? Like a spoiled child. Like a man who cannot accept constructive criticism. We’ve had a president like that, and his name was Donald Trump. He’s one of the main reasons we’re in the fix we see before us right now as it pertains to the coronavirus.

DeSantis told reporters this while he was visiting Panama City and was asked about what the president had said:

“Why don’t you do your job. Why don’t you get this border secured, and until you do that I don’t want to hear a blip about Covid from you.”

Shortly after DeSantis made that snippy soundbite, he was also using it to try and raise money for his reelection efforts in 2022, sending out a blast email in which he pretended to be a tough guy:

“Joe Biden has the nerve to tell me to get out of the way on COVID while he lets COVID-infected migrants pour over our southern border by the hundreds of thousands. No elected official is doing more to enable the transmission of COVID in America than Joe Biden with his open borders policies.”

The governor wants us to believe the reason COVID is spreading is because of immigrants coming into the United States, though he has never presented a scintilla of evidence to support his allegation. He’s bullshitting. He’s lying. He’s using hatred and fear of “the other” to try and cover up his own heartlessness and incompetence.

Or, to put it another way, Ron DeSantis is pulling a Trump.

But White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki had the perfect response to Gov. DeSantis, telling reporters at Thursday’s daily press briefing:

“25% of hospitalizations in the country are in Florida.

“It is also a fact that the governor has taken steps that are counter to public health recommendations. So, we’re here to state the facts. Frankly, our view is that this is too serious, deadly serious to be doing partisan name calling. That’s what we’re not doing here, we’re focused on providing public health data information to the people of Florida, to make sure they understand what steps they should be taking, even if those are not steps taken at the top of the leadership in that state.”

That’s how you deal with an empty suit, wannabe tough guy like Ron DeSantis. The governor should be ashamed of himself. But to feel shame, you have to possess a conscience. Clearly, DeSantis has no conscience. Just hubris, bluster, and bile.

Jen Psaki Swats Down Fox Reporter For Suggesting Concern About Voting Rights Is ‘Funny’

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki wasn’t about to let Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy make light of voting rights in the United States, and she expertly swatted him down during Wednesday’s daily press briefing.

Doocy began by bringing up Texas Democrats who have left the state to keep Republicans from passing new voting restrictions, asking:

“About voting rights and Texas lawmakers who have come to Washington, do you know of any examples from his thirty six years in the senate that Joe Biden just hopped on a train and left town to avoid a vote that he knew that he was going to lose?”

Psaki replied:

“I think that the president’s view is these Texas legislators were making a statement through action in opposition to efforts in their state to oppose restrictions on people’s fundamental rights and the right to vote in their state. That is why they departed. The vice president met with these legislators yesterday. And the president, I should say, certainly applies their action and outspoken opposition to efforts to put in place restrictive measures in their state.”

That led Doocy to sarcastically respond:

“Maybe it’s funny to think about it that way.”

But the press secretary was having none of it, and she quickly shot Doocy down:

“I don’t think anything about this is funny. I think what is important to note though here is that there are 28 states, including Texas, where there are laws in place or in process to make it harder to vote and it requires bold action, it requires bold voices to speak out against that and make sure people understand their rights.”

Doocy thought he’d try and attack the administration again with this query:

“Does the candidate who is now  president who told people who knew how to make deals with Republicans, he’s meeting with Republicans today, does he think the best way to prevent something that he thinks is back from happening is for lawmakers to be hiding out in a different state or to go back and sit at the table?”

But the press secretary was more than ready for that one, too, telling the Fox flunky:

“The president believes you should work together in areas where you can find agreement, as he is on a bipartisan infrastructure framework that will help rebuild roadways, railways and bridges around our country. Also, that you should be outspoken where you have concerns about affronts to democracy.”

Game, set, and match, Jen Psaki.
