George Santos May Try To ‘Torch The House’ As They Give Him The Boot

Now that the House Ethics Committee has made it clear that Rep. George Santos (R-NY) did indeed engage in “uncharged and unlawful conduct” that could merit his immediate expulsion from Congress, all that remains to be seen is what the congressman will do with what remains of his limited time in office.

Though Santos did say last week that he won’t seek reelection in 2024, he may still have some dangerous games he could play that would throw the House into complete chaos, according to American Enterprise Institute researcher Kevin Kosar., who writes:

How will Santos respond to that vote once he knows it is coming?. He could go gently into the night. He might give a farewell speech like Ohio Democrat James Traficant did in 2002 after he got the boot. Or Rep. Santos instead might torch the House. Specifically, what if he demanded recognition the moment the House of Representatives restarted and raised a question of privilege to vacate the speakership?

A motion to vacate is considered privileged, which means it would take precedence over any other House business, including a move to expel Santos as soon as possible, Kosar notes.

He feels betrayed and scorned. Santos has every reason to fight and keep up the act that he is a victim. Additionally, vacating the Speaker would delay the vote on his own expulsion— no Speaker means the GOP would leave the floor to huddle in conference and figure out who is in charge. And if past is prologue, that could take a while. Not to be forgotten is that pulling this maneuver would be sweet revenge on his party for scorning him.”

And, obviously, trying to vacate the chair would make for great theater, and Santos is all about drama.

While House Republicans might not be willing to give current speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) the boot, Democrats could easily vote as a bloc and make it impossible for Johnson to get the votes he needs to remain, which would likely delight Santos.

The prospect of George Santos temporarily shutting down the House to save his own hide is a troubling one. Thankfully, after further thought and consultation with a maven of House legislative procedure, I found peace. No, Rep. Santos can’t torch the House. Sure, he can try, but it would fail.

It would fail, but just imagine the damage it could do to the GOP with a national election now less than a year away.

Marjorie Taylor Greene And George Santos Introduce Legislation To Ban Books From Schools

Republican Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) and George Santos (NY) have introduced legislation that would ban some books from public schools across the United States.

According to LGBTQ Nation, the bill is H.R. 863 and was filed last week by Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL), who claims the purpose of the law is to “end the sexualization of children in schools.”

The full text of the bill has not been uploaded to the Congressional database and Mills hasn’t posted it to his website yet, but its description says its purpose is “to amend title 18, United States Code, to prohibit a publishing house from knowingly furnishing sexually explicit material to a school or an educational agency, to prohibit Federal funds from being provided to a school that obtains or an educational agency that distributes sexually explicit material, and for other purposes.”

[…]

The bill also dovetails with right-wing fear about “pornography” in schools. Many right-wing activists over the past several years have called any book that discusses sexuality at all “pornography,” including books that discuss non-heterosexual family structures. The language has been used to raise the stakes as conservative parents try to get books by LGBTQ+ authors banned from school districts.

Of course, schools aren’t distributing porn to students and never have. But it seems that some right-wing Republicans (i.e. the majority of the party) are eager to try and suggest otherwise in a desperate attempt to appear they have any original ideas about what young people should learn while in school.

Ironically, Santos is openly gay. Which makes you wonder why Greene has suddenly become his BFF. After all, she has repeatedly claimed that LGBTQ Americans are trying to “groom” children in an attempt to recruit and sexualize them.

Santos has even said that same-sex couples should not be allowed to raise children, telling conservative host John Stubbins:

“The family unit has been under attack for decades, decades. In different ways, right? The flavor of the decade is same-sex couples. ‘Oh, that’s so OK!’ Look, to each their own, I don’t have anything against that but they’re teaching in school how kids that, you know, you don’t need a mommy and a daddy, you can have two mommies, you can have two daddies. I think that’s a little much for kids, right?”

Marjorie Taylor Greene Defends George Santos For Lying And It Doesn’t End Well For Her

Even though she supports the biggest liar to ever run for any office in this country, Donald Trump, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is now eagerly defending Congressman-Elect George Santos (R-NY), who appears to have fabricated nearly every “fact” he told voters in the midterm election.

Newsweek reports that Santos has repeatedly been caught in one lie after another.

Santos, who was elected to represent New York’s 3rd Congressional District in November’s midterms, admitted in a Monday interview with the New York Post to “embellishing my résumé.” He confirmed previous reporting by The New York Times that he did not graduate from college or work for Citigroup or Goldman Sachs, and does not own 13 properties, despite previous claims to the contrary.

Though Santos is facing resignation calls over the revelations, he said that he still plans to take the oath of office and take his seat in the House on January 3.

That led Greene to offer this defense of Santos:

“George Santos lied about his resume, and the left is demanding he resign. Ilhan Omar says she didn’t marry her brother, she lied. Elizabeth Warren said she was Native American Indian, she lied. The left said George Floyd didn’t die of a drug overdose, they lied.”

“Dr Rachel Levine says he’s a woman, he lied. Adam Schiff said he had proof of Trump Russian collusion, he lied. Eric Swalwell said he didn’t have sex with a CCP spy, he lied. Fauci said the taxpayer funded Covid-19 virus didn’t come from the Wuhan lab, he lied.”

“The science and medical ‘experts’ said the taxpayer funded covid vaccines would stop Covid, they lied, they also said they are safe, they lied again. The Democrats, J6 committee, and media say Trump and us Republicans organized an insurrection on J6, they lied.”

“The left doesn’t care about lying. The real reason they’re attacking George Santos is that he the first openly gay Republican elected and they hate him for it. I’m glad George is being honest with his district now and look forward to seeing how George legislates & votes.”

Really, Marge? Santos is being hated because he’s a gay Republican? Aren’t you the same person who has repeatedly suggested that LGBTQ Americans are “grooming” children for sex and thrown every bigoted attack possible at anyone who wants the legal right to marry whoever they want, as long as both are consenting adults?

What “the left” hates is bigotry and hypocrisy, both of which Greene is guilty of on a daily basis, as other Twitter users reminded her.
