Nancy Mace Faceplants When Asked About Backing Jim Jordan For Speaker Despite Sex Abuse Claims

While she claims to be an advocate for victims of sexual assault, Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced Sunday morning that she was supporting Rep. Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) bid to be the next Speaker of the House of Representatives despite his connection to a horrific sex scandal that took place at Ohio State University while he was an assistant coach on the school’s wrestling team.

Nonetheless, Mace posted this on Twitter:

“Jim Jordan is an honest man, true to his word and his values. He’s also a workhorse. He will put people ahead of petty Washington politics. He has my full support to be the next Speaker of the House.”

That led CBS News anchor Margaret Brennan to ask the congresswoman on Face the Nation, “I know you’ve been outspoken about defending victims of sexual assault. Do the past allegations against Jim Jordan that he turned a blind eye to sexual abuse give you any reservations?”

Clearly uncomfortable with the query, Mace replied:

“I — yeah, I’m not familiar or aware with that. He’s not indicted on anything that I’m aware of. And so I don’t I don’t know anything. I can’t speak to that.”

Mace continued to dig the hole she was in even deeper, adding:

“What I do know is that I’ve been a very strong voice for women. I’ve talked to Jim Jordan and Steve Scalise about that. I’ve been a very strong advocate for rape victims. As you mentioned earlier, the Judiciary Committee has with him as chairman, recently passed a rape kit bill that [Congresswoman] Barbara Lee and I are working on. And those are the facts and the data that I have to work with. And I’ve had a very positive experience with them in that regard.”

She doesn’t know anything about the Ohio State wrestling sex scandal and Jim Jordan? Wow! That’s some convenient denial of facts that have been in the public domain for decades.

If Nancy Mace wants to continue to claims that she’s an advocate for sex abuse victims, she needs to denounce Jim Jordan and explain why she’s changed her mind. Otherwise, she should just sit quietly in her hypocrisy while we mock and ridicule her.
