A former top adviser to ex-House Speaker Paul Ryan says many Republicans among the current House GOP caucus are “losing patience” and getting tired of “dumb,” politically-motivated investigations being conducted by Reps. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and James Comer (R-KY) that have produced nothing but humiliating headlines.
Brendan Buck was a guest on MSNBC earlier this morning, and he told host Jonathan Lemire that the bogus investigations are taking a toll on a majority of the non-extremist member of the GOP.
“I feel for [House Speaker] Kevin McCarthy,” Buck noted. “A not insignificant part of the job of being speaker is stopping your members from doing something politically dumb — and that’s clearly what is going on here.”
“But the reality is, House members are losing patience with a lot of these investigations. That’s because they rushed out right after the election and said that, pretty plainly, that Joe Biden is part of some corruption deal with his son,” he continued. “In fact, Jim Jordan and James Comer, the two party chairman came out and said they have direct evidence that Joe Biden was part of some schemes with overseas dealings. Of course, six months later, we’ve not seen any of that.”
Buck concluded, “So, at some point, your members get tired, lose patience, and they want to see action — that’s what came to a head with Rep. Lauren Boebert. Kevin McCarthy has put that to bed, but I wouldn’t be surprised if that doesn’t bring itself back up in the not-too-distant future.”
The reference to Boebert was her absurd motion to impeach President Joe Biden, which was put before the House in June.
House Republicans are trying to run interference for their lord and savior, Donald Trump, who has already been indicted in Manhattan and on 37 counts by Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith. He’s also likely to be indicted within the next couple of months on charges of attempting to illegally overturn the 2020 election results in Georgia.
The GOP has no ideas and no platform because they’re too busy trying to distract from the fact that the head of their party is a crook who steals nuclear secrets and then keeps them “hidden” in a lavatory at his Florida golf resort.
If and when Trump is found guilty, what will Republicans do then? Try to stage yet another coup?
