Former FBI Official: Oath Keepers Guilty Verdict Is Very Bad News For Donald Trump

Recently, a federal jury in Washington, D.C. found Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and Kelly Meggs, who is also a member of the extreme right-wing group, guilty of seditious conspiracy in connection with the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

The two men could be sentenced to as much as 20 years in prison.

According to a former top FBI official, the guilty verdict should be especially concerning to failed, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump.

Former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was asked by CNN host Kasie Hunt about what message is being sent to those who have not yet been indicted for the Capitol insurrection:

“Let me ask you about what we saw in the trial. Do you think the events of the last 24 hours have changed the calculation for the Justice Department in terms of whether or not to prosecute the former president, since they were able to secure this conviction?”

McCabe agreed the conviction does indeed turn up the heat on Trump and others:

“No question, in a couple of ways. The comments about the Oath Keeper verdict by the AG (Merrick Garland) is a little more than just a chest-pounding session. He is sending a message to the attorneys representing the other Oath Keepers, whose trial is coming up, and the Proud Boys and whoever might be in the wings later that we can do this. We can put on these complicated, high-stakes political cases and get verdicts. Rethink whether you want to cooperate, provide evidence and seek an easier path.”

He added:

“I think that’s a — it’s a very loud message to those folks who were in leadership positions, who may be being looked at for their role in organizing and instigating the attack. And first and foremost among those is, of course, the former president.”

MT Greene Says If She’d Organized Jan. 6 The Rioters Would Have Been ‘Armed’ – ‘We Would Have Won’

If the Justice Department is looking for someone to bring in for questioning about the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, they don’t need to look any further than Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who told a group of New York Republicans on Saturday that she would have made sure the rioters were “armed” and the domestic terrorists “would have won.”

Speaking to the New York Young Republican Club, Mediaite reports, Greene sounded like she might be ready to help stage another attack on the nation’s Capitol building.

Her speech largely consisted of blasting the Biden administration, calling the government “corrupt,” and re-affirming her opposition to supporting Ukraine’s defense against Russia. Her remarks eventually arrived at the subject of January 6th, where she scoffed at the past accusations that she gave Capitol tours to Donald Trump’s supporters before they wound up laying siege to the building.

“Then Jan. 6 happened. And next thing you know, I organized the whole thing, along with Steve Bannon,” Greene said. “I will tell you something, if Steve Bannon and I organized that, we would have won. Not to mention, it would’ve been armed.”

In the past, Greene has said she stands allied with those who tried to overturn the government on Jan. 6, bragging that “I am one of those people. That’s exactly who I am.”

She later tried to walk back those comments, but considering what she said Saturday, is there any doubt that Greene feels a deep kinship with domestic terrorists and right-wing militias who are still plotting to overtake the country by force?

Dear Attorney General Garland: Please send Marjorie Taylor Greene a subpoena to testify before the grand jury looking into Jan. 6. It sounds like she has information that might be of great interest and that might also incriminate her and others in the Republican Party.

Jan. 6 Committee Likely To Refer Meadows, Giuliani And Two Others For Criminal Charges

The House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol is expected to refer former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows and ex-president Donald Trump’s personal attorney, Rudy Giuliani, to the Justice Department for criminal charges, according to CNN.

The panel is weighing criminal referrals for former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows, right wing lawyer John Eastman, former Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark and Trump’s former lawyer Rudy Giuliani, the sources said.

The committee has not officially decided whom to refer to the Justice Department for prosecution and for what offenses, sources said. The four individuals who are among those under consideration, and whose names have not been previously reported, provide a window into the panel’s deliberations.

On Thursday, committee chairman Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS) confirmed that the panel will make a final decision on who to refer to the DOJ on Sunday.

“I think the more we looked at the body of evidence that we had collected, we just felt that while we’re not in the business of investigating people for criminal activities, we just couldn’t overlook some of them.”

Committee member Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) echoed Thompson’s comments, noting:

“I think anyone who engages in criminal actions needs to be held accountable for them. And we are going to spell that out.

“The gravest offense in constitutional terms is the attempt to overthrow a presidential election and bypass the constitutional order. Subsidiary to all of that are a whole host of statutory offenses, which support the gravity and magnitude of that violent assault on America.”

Additionally, the House Select Committee is also debating whether or not to refer former president Trump for criminal charges, with Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) telling NPR:

“I think the facts support a potential charge against the former president.”

Viral Video: Capitol Police Officers Refuse To Shake Hands With McConnell And McCarthy

At the U.S. Capitol today, several police officers who were on duty on January 6, 2021 when thousands of pro-Trump supporters stormed the Capitol building were given gold medals for their bravery on that fateful day.

The Congressional Gold Medal is the highest honor Congress can bestow on any American, and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) thanked the officers before they were given their awards.

“Exactly 23 months ago, our nation suffered the most staggering assault on democracy since the Civil War. Jan. 6 was a day of horror and heartbreak. It is also a moment of extraordinary heroism. Staring down deadly violence and despicable bigotry, our law enforcement officers bravely stood in the breach, ensuring that democracy survived on that dark day.”

In the videos below, you can see each officer shaking hands with Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), but each one then refuses to shake the outstretched hand of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).

Twitter gave the officers a standing ovation for their righteous dissing of McConnell and McCarthy.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Says Melania Trump Is ‘Just Sick’ That People Are In Jail For Jan. 6

According to the always unreliable Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), former First Lady Melania Trump is “just sick” that some of the January 6 defendants remain behind bars.

Speaking with former Trump administration adviser and convicted felon Steve Bannon, Greene noted that she had seen postings on Twitter where people were angry that disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump didn’t pardon those arrested for the Capitol insurrection.

“I thought, this is ridiculous; they’re lying about him. People are lying about him. The very idea that he could have pardoned all the Jan. 6 defendants before he left the White House on Jan. 20 is impossible because the high majority of those people weren’t even arrested until after he left office!”

Greene added:

“And he didn’t even know them! He had no idea who they are. He doesn’t know who they are still. He had nothing to do with what they did on Jan. 6, um, so it would have been impossible for him to magically know how to find these people and pardon them.”

Not to worry, Greene continued, because the last time she was at Mar-a-Lago she gave Donald and Melania a full report on those who are incarcerated for trying to overthrow the U.S. government, making them guilty of sedition and domestic terrorism.

“President Trump and Melania were both just sick over what they learned. And he said over and over that he will — he will pardon the Jan. 6 defendants.”

The congresswoman ended her fact-free rant by remarking:

“This is real political persecution. And it shouldn’t be happening in America and so the criticism on President Trump is ridiculous!”

Trump will never again be elected president, so how exactly is he going to pardon anyone? He could have easily issued a blanket pardon for anyone who had been arrested in connection with Jan. 6, but he didn’t. Why? Because he doesn’t give a diddly damn about anyone but himself. And neither does Melania.

Here’s the video of Greene’s rantings:
