Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) got called out for his blatant hypocrisy Sunday during an appearance on “Meet the Press” when host Chuck Todd asked him why he’s so eager to investigate President Joe Biden but never did the same while Donald Trump was in the White House.
Jordan told Todd that he wants to try and determine why there’s a two-tiered justice system for Republicans and Democrats, citing the fact that a search warrant was served on Trump at Mar-a-Lago when he refused to turn over classified documents.
That led the host to remark:
“You keep talking about this raid on Donald Trump. There was nine months between the initial action the archives made for a request of documents before they even turned it over to the Justice Department. The subpoena was issued 60 days before they actually executed the subpoena. And more importantly, the only time the public found out about it is because Donald Trump told the public about it.
“It was actually a year and a half of Donald Trump not complying with any of the requests from the National Archives. A year and a half! This is not some sort of proof that somehow they’ve weaponized and are playing politics [at the Justice Department].”
Jordan: “They raided Trump’s home; they haven’t raided [President Joe Biden’s].”
Todd: “Because Biden didn’t defy a subpoena!”
Jordan suggested that Trump’s documents were in a locked room under protection from the Secret Service, which led Todd to shut down the congressman by noting:
“You do not seem to ever see the same conspiratorial problems when it’s a Republican.”
