Viral Video Shows Democratic Senator Slamming Susan Collins For Her Hypocrisy On Voting Rights

Georgia Democratic Sen. Jon Ossoff took all he could take during a debate of the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act and slammed his Republican colleague, Susan Collins of Maine, accusing her of being a hypocrite when it comes to what she says versus what she does when it’s time to move legislation forward.

On Wednesday evening, shortly before Collins joined her GOP colleagues to keep a filibuster in place that prevented voting rights legislation from moving forward, Ossoff stood and excoriated Collins for voting to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act in 2006 but now shirking her responsibility to the memory of John Lewis:

“Abraham Lincoln must be turning in his grave to hear the senators from the Grand Old Party, the party of abolition and emancipation and reconstruction, echoing the states’ rights rhetoric of Dixiecrat segregationists to oppose federal voting rights legislation.

“I speak for the state of Georgia when I say do not invoke Congressman Lewis’ name to signal your virtue while you work to erode his legacy and defy his will.”

It quickly became clear that Ossoff had struck a nerve, as Collins suggested the Georgian might have violated a rule that bans senators from imputing “to other Senators any conduct or motive unworthy or unbecoming a Senator.”

Collins also tried to suggest that the length of the John Lewis Act makes her unable to support it, which begs the question: Is Sen. Collins, at age 69, unable to read more than a page or two without dozing off?

Here’s what Collins said on the matter:

“I’m not sure that the senator from Georgia was even born in 1965. I voted enthusiastically and I did say that about the Voting Rights Reauthorization in 2006, and surely my colleague is not confusing that bill, which was five pages long … with the bill that is before the Senate tonight, which is 735 pages long.”

What a pathetic excuse for wimping out. But it shouldn’t surprise anyone because this is the very same Susan Collins who believed Brett Kavanaugh when he assured her would protect a woman’s right to choose. Now Kavanaugh and his five right-wing extremist buddies on the Supreme Court are preparing to render Roe v. Wade a thing of the past, leaving women unable to make their own reproductive choices.

So spare us the whining and outrage, Sen. Collins. You sold what was left of your soul a long time ago.

Lindsey Graham Says He No Longer Supports Mitch McConnell Because He’s Been Mean To Trump

For those of you keeping score at home in the Great GOP Civil War of 2021, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) says he’s officially done with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) because Mitch isn’t being sufficiently subservient to failed, one-term former President Donald Trump.

Yep. Lindsey says he won’t even support Mitch to be the next majority leader if Republicans happen to win back control of the Senate in the midterm elections.

During an appearance on Fox News Wednesday evening, Lindsey told host Sean Hannity:

“Elections are about the future. If you want to be a Republican leader in the House or the Senate, you have to have a working relationship with President Donald Trump. He’s the most consequential Republican since Ronald Reagan. It’s his nomination if he wants it, and I think he’ll get reelected in 2024.”

If elections are about the future, as Graham asserts, why would you want to hitch your wagon to a man who was impeached twice, lost by nearly 8 million votes, and has a lower positive approval rating among the public than gonorrhea, not to mention that he’s facing indictment in multiple jurisdictions?

But Lindsey was far from finished laying a massive smooch on Trump’s fat butt, adding:

“I’m not going to vote for anybody for leader of the Senate as a Republican unless they can prove to me that they can advocate an ‘American First’ agenda and have a working relationship with President Trump, because if you can’t do that, you will fail.”

Pay attention, Lindsey: DONALD TRUMP HAS ALREADY FAILED! He failed miserably and will go down as the worst president in American history. Step aside, Millard Fillmore and Warren Harding, Dotard Donnie is taking your spot!

Graham was asked Thursday by Fox host Sandra Smith if he really meant what he told Hannity:

“When you go back to the warning to Mitch McConnell, why would you do that in this moment in a midterm election election year?”

Graham snapped back with this reply:

“Are you not listening? It’s not a warning. He says he wants to be the Republican leader. I’ve acknowledged he’s been the most consequential Republican leader of my lifetime. … But look what Mitch accomplished working with Donald Trump. The question is, how do we go forward as a party?”

Graham then added to be an effective GOP leader “you don’t have to kiss Donald Trump’s ass, but you got to have a working relationship with him for us to be successful.”

If that’s the case, then why is Lindsey so eager to pucker up and kiss Donald Trump’s ass?

Republicans are convinced they’ve got the 2022 midterms all sewn up, but based on the way they’re sniping at each other ten months out, they might not want to count those chickens just yet.

Oh, and Lindsey, one other thing: Do us all a favor and wipe that orange and brown smudge off your nose.

Ted Cruz Had A Bizarre Hissy Fit During A Press Conference – And Proved What A Jerk He Is

Maybe he needs to switch to decaf or get some therapy for anger management, but Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) quite clearly needs to do something about the way he behaved at a recent press conference.

Along with several other GOP senators, Cruz was about to start the presser when a reporter asked why he and the others weren’t wearing protective masks to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

But the reporter might just as well have asked Cruz if he would admit that he’s the notorious Zodiac Killer, according to Mediaite:

Cruz noted that “as far as I know, everyone here has been vaccinated, has been double vaccinated, been boosted.”

“On the question of hypocrisy, you just asked, you people at the podium are speaking without masks. Just once, I’d like to see a reporter say to Joe Biden when he,” said Cruz, who slammed both his fists on the podium, “stands at the damn podium in the White House without a mask, ‘Mr. President, why aren’t you wearing a mask?’”

And Cruz was just getting warmed up, quickly adding (along with wild hand and arm gesticulations):

“Just once, I’d like to see you say to Jen Psaki, the White House press secretary, when she stands,” continued Cruz, who slammed both of his hounds on the podium, “at the podium with no mask, ‘Ms. Psaki, why don’t you have a mask?’”

“The questions are only directed at one side, and I got to say that the American people see the hypocrisy,” said Cruz.

The American people also see a wild man who is losing what’s left of his mind right in front of us.

It’s fine to say you don’t appreciate the hypocrisy, but it needs to be pointed out that President Biden always shows up to a speech, press conference, or other event wearing a mask, then removes it before he speaks. Cruz, on the other hand, showed up sans mask and tried to make a false equivalency that only served to make him look like the crazy guy at work everyone avoids out of fear he might blow a gasket and start taking hostages.

How deranged is Ted Cruz? He still believes he’ll be president one day. He won’t, and his unhinged ranting about masks is evidence of why.

America Applauds When Hot Mic Catches Dr. Fauci Destroying A GOP Senator: ‘What A Moron!’

During a Senate hearing Tuesday on the U.S. response to COVID-19, Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases made it clear that he has only so much patience when it comes to explaining things to Republicans who refuse to accept facts.

Sen. Roger Marshall (R-KS) was questioning Fauci and asked if he planned to public disclose his financial investments.

Fauci told the senator that his his financial disclosures have been available to the public for decades:

“I don’t understand why you’re asking me that question. My financial disclosure is public knowledge and has been so for the last 37 years or so.”

Rather than accept the reply and move on, Marshall made a snide remark:

“The big tech giants are doing an incredible job of keeping it from being public. We’ll continue to look for it. Where would we find it?”

Clearly getting frustrated, Fauci said:

“All you have to do is ask for it! You’re so misinformed it’s extraordinary! All you have to do is ask for it.”

Again, Marshall pressed even though the question had been answered not once, but TWICE, saying he wondered what “shenanigans” Fauci was hiding in his finances.

Fauci told Marshall yet again:

“What are you talking about? My financial disclosures are public knowledge and have been so. You are getting amazingly wrong information.”

As Marshall’s time expired, Fauci could be heard saying under his breath:

“What a moron!”

Joe Manchin Gets Caught In A ‘Trumpian Lie’ About The Senate Filibuster

As he continues to obstruct major portions of President Joe Biden’s legislative agenda, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) is now lying about the history of the Senate filibuster in a desperate attempt to make it appear that he’s on the side of the angels.

According to Chad Pergram of Fox News, Manchin had this to say Monday when asked about whether or not he would support changes in the filibuster rule so that voting rights legislation could be passed:

“The tradition of the Senate here in 232 years now..we need to be very cautious what we do..That’s what we’ve always had for 232 years. That’s what makes us different than any place else in the world.”

But that’s simply not true, according to attorney Max Kennerly:

“232 years ago, in 1790, a simple majority could end any debate. The current form of filibuster that Manchin is protecting—in which votes can’t happen until 60 Senators agree—didn’t exist until 1975. Hundreds of exceptions have been made to it, including one last month.”

Kennerly then added this painful reminder about the filibuster:

Jonathan Chait of New York Magazine also weighed in, noting:

“The Founders considered, and rejected, a routine supermajority requirement.

“The filibuster is actually not in the Constitution.”

And Mehdi Hasan of MSNBC branded Manchin’s comments a “Trumpian lie.”

Former Secretary of Labor Robert Reich also called Manchin out on Twitter:

Joe Manchin needs to be forced to explain why he wants to allow Republicans to keep people of color from voting. And he also needs to be called out for his endless lies.
