Jim Jordan Gets Reminded Of His Sketchy Past After He Asks God To ‘Bless’ Whistleblowers

Clearly lacking in the area of self-awareness, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) thought it’d be a great idea to tweet out a blessing on whistleblowers after his Thursday hearing featuring two such witnesses from the FBI blew up in his face and made him and House Republicans look like complete fools.

The two men who testified on Thursday — Marcus Allen and Steve Friend — aren’t actually whistleblowers, many Democrats rightly noted. Instead, they directly interfered with or refused to take part into FBI investigations of the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, as CNN reports.

The FBI officially revoked Allen’s security clearance on May 3 and listed a variety of reasons for doing so, including a September 29, 2021, email in which Allen called on FBI officials to exercise “extreme caution and discretion in pursuit of any investigative inquiries or leads pertaining to the events of” January 6, according to a copy of the letter.

[…]

Friend, a former FBI agent working out of Florida, had his security clearance suspended in September 2022 for objecting to using a SWAT team to arrest a subject whom the FBI said was at the Capitol illegally on January 6. Friend, in a previous interview with CNN, said the force was unnecessary against an individual who had committed a misdemeanor offense.

Whistleblowers? Hardly. They’re just disgruntled clowns who got their feelings hurt when they were reprimanded for not doing their jobs. And they’re also getting paid by a former adviser to failed former president Donald Trump.

Yet despite all of those facts, Jordan tweeted out this:

That led to many Twitter users reminding Jordan about his own sketchy past while an assistant wrestling coach at Ohio State University. Several wrestlers on that team say they told Jordan they were being sexually abused by a team doctor, yet Jordan never brought the allegations to the proper authorities at the university.

Matt Gaetz Tries To Give Marjorie Taylor Greene A Nickname And It Backfires Badly

Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has been extremely busy lately. She hasn’t been doing anything productive, mind you, but she has filed or promised to file articles of impeachment against Attorney General Merrick Garland, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, FBI Director Chris Wray, and Matthew Graves, the U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia.

Graves was testifying before a congressional committee when Greene announced she would seek to have him removed from office, which won’t happen because there aren’t enough votes in the House to impeach any of the people she’s targeted.

Despite, that Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) praised Greene on Twitter, giving her a new nickname.

MAGA Queen? Is that supposed to be a compliment? If so, plenty of Twitter users were quick to remind Gaetz that there were more applicable nicknames for the Georgia Republican and her moronic antics.

Social Media Is Having Fun Predicting Who Will Be Lauren Boebert’s Next Husband

On Tuesday, Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) announced that she was divorcing her husband, Jayson, after 18 years of marriage.

Boebert broke the news via a statement:

“It is with a heavy weight on my heart that I have filed for divorce from my husband,” the statement said. “I am grateful for our years of marriage together and for our beautiful children, all of whom deserve privacy and love as we work through this process. I’ve always been faithful in my marriage, and I believe strongly in marriage, which makes this announcement that much more difficult. This is truly about irreconcilable differences.”

According to The Daily Beast, Mr. Boebert didn’t take being told his wife was kicking him to the curb very well.

“Once he learned that he was being served with Dissolution of Marriage papers he was extremely angry,” the process server wrote. “I tried to hand him the documents but [he] did not take them. He started yelling and using profanities, and told me that I was trespassing, and that he was calling the Sheriff’s Office. I told him I was leaving the documents on the chair outside of the door, he closed the door then let the dogs out.”

Speculation has now begun as to whom we might see Lauren walking down the aisle with next. After all, she’s a “Christian,” so she’d have to wed if things get serious with another man.

Twitter had some thoughts on who might be Bobo’s next hubby.

Feel free to add your own choices to the ever-expanding list of possible suitors for the dimmest bulb in Colorado.

Kevin McCarthy’s Latest Blunder Suggests His Speakership Is Nearing The End: Report

Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) needed 15 ballots before he finally became head of the House GOP caucus in January, but his latest blunder involving raising the federal debt ceiling has some suggesting that it’s time for him to be removed.

According to an analysis by MSNBC’s James Downie, McCarthy’s debt ceiling proposal appears to be fracturing the delicate coalition that helped put him in the Speaker’s chair.

The problem here isn’t the bill itself — even though it has the absence of substance you’d expect from today’s GOP. The problem is that the basic elements of what’s being requested in the bill have been public knowledge for months, and yet McCarthy and his team have dawdled on bringing it to the floor. And even after all this time, McCarthy is, once again, struggling to find the 218 votes he needs to pass the proposal. “The whip count on this is not good,” one senior Republican told Axios on Thursday.

How could McCarthy not have known that such a proposal would be met with disdain on both sides of the aisle? Probably because the Speaker doesn’t know what he’s doing, and, more importantly, doesn’t know how to count votes.

There is no excuse for such negligence. McCarthy’s failures in that office have been, like the rest of his career, largely inconsequential. But if the country is to raise the debt limit in an orderly fashion, then he must quickly find one of two qualities he’s never displayed before. Either he’ll need to put his country over his position and broker a bipartisan deal in the House before the Freedom Caucus inevitably replaces him. Or he’ll need to persuade a dozen or more Republicans, whose brand is just this side of ‘death to Democrats,’ to hold hands with Biden.

All that remains if McCarthy cannot reach a deal that’s agreeable to both his caucus and the White House is a series of moves that no one is eager to try, if only because they reek of desperation and may not even work.

Off-ramps remain, including invoking the 14th Amendment, minting a platinum coin, forcing a discharge petition through the House and issuing “premium bonds.” But these alternatives are untested.

How nice it would be to have a competent Speaker at this perilous moment, a leader, a statesman, Downie concludes, adding, “But we don’t have leadership. We don’t have selflessness. We don’t have competence. We have Kevin McCarthy.”

Republicans Ready To Boot Marjorie Taylor Greene From Homeland Security Committee: Report

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is one step closer to being removed from the House Homeland Security Committee after she called Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas “liar” and accused him of being responsible for thousands of fentanyl deaths in the United States, a direct violation of House rules that prohibit the impugning the character of a witness.

According to CNN reporter Melanie Zanona, committee chairman Mark Green (R-TN) has had enough of Greene’s antics.

“GOP tensions flaring over MTG’s committee hearing outburst today,. Source close to Chairman Mark Green said he was furious w/ MTG’s behavior and planned to privately reprimand her, and also said he’d encourage McCarthy to remove her from the committee if she did that again. But MTG doubled down on her rhetoric, accusing her GOP colleagues of ‘doing the bidding’ of Dems. She told me went to [House Speaker Kevin] McCarthy’s office to talk about it & said to him: ‘I don’t know how we’re ever going to accomplish anything when we can’t call people a liar when they’re lying.'”

CNN also reports that other House Republicans are also fed up with Greene and want her disciplined for her antics.

GOP lawmakers on the committee, speaking on condition of anonymity, told CNN that Greene’s behavior was an unnecessary distraction and complained they had to waste valuable hearing time over the dust-up. Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas, who called Greene a “friend” that he has hosted in his district, said the incident was “unfortunate” and supported the chairman’s decision to silence her. “I thought he did a good job managing the committee as best as he could. But the sooner we can get back to kind of civility amongst colleagues, the better for everybody,” he told CNN.

Greene was reportedly instrumental in helping Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) get elected Speaker of the House by a razor thin margin in January, and it remains unclear if he would support barring her from the Homeland Security Committee.
