Democrat DESTROYS Marjorie Taylor Greene With Fiery Speech Calling For Her Censure

On Thursday, shortly after Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) introduced a resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for attending a pro-Palestinian demonstration after the Hamas terror attacks on Israel, Vermont Democratic Congresswoman Becca Balint decided to give Greene a taste of her own medicine.

In a searing 11-minute speech on the House floor, Balint laid out why she was calling for Greene to be censured, saying the controversial Georgian had “repeatedly fanned the flames of racism, antisemitism, LGBTQ hate speech, Islamophobia, anti-Asian hate, xenophobia, and other forms of hatred.”

Here’s the full transcript of Balint’s speech, courtesy of Mediaite:

Whereas Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly fanned the flames of racism, antisemitism, LGBTQ hate speech, Islamophobia, anti-Asian hate, xenophobia, and other forms of hatred;

Whereas Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly debased the memories of thousands of victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, by perpetuating conspiracy theories to shift blame and responsibility for the mass murder;

Whereas Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly assaulted the foundation of our democracy by perpetuating conspiracy theories related to the January 6 attack on the Capitol which sought to halt the peaceful transfer of power;

Whereas Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly called for violence against elected representatives
and their families;

Whereas Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene has repeatedly espoused antisemitic rhetoric and conspiracy theories, including through inflammatory evocations of the Holocaust;

Whereas, on May 20, 2021, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said that the mask mandate in the House of Representatives was akin to Jews being ‘‘put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany’’;

Whereas, on May 25, 2021, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene tweeted that, ‘‘Vaccinated employees get a vaccination logo just like the Nazi’s forced Jewish people to wear a gold star’’;

Whereas, on February 26, 2022, Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene appeared at a white nationalist event that was condemned by the Republican Jewish Coalition as ‘‘appalling and outrageous that a Member of Congress would share a platform with an individual who has actively spread antisemitic bile, mocked the Holocaust and promoted dangerous anti-Israel conspiracy theories’’;

[…]

Now, therefore, be it Resolved, That–

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene be censured;

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene forthwith present herself in the well of the House of Representatives for the pronouncement of censure;

and

Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene be censured with the public reading of this resolution by the Speaker.

And here’s the video:

If anyone is deserving of being censured and even removed from Congress, it’s Marjorie Taylor Greene. She has repeatedly engaged in seditious behavior, lied, plotted to overturn the 2020 election, and even begged Donald Trump for a pardon. Only guilty people need pardons. And Margie is as guilty as they come.

New Speaker May Plunge The Country Into Chaos To Help Bolster Trump’s 2024 Chances: Analyst

While new Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) spoke today of bipartisanship and bringing the two parties together, there’s a very real chance he may be planning to send the United States into chaos in an effort to boost Donald Trump’s chances of winning the 2024 election.

That’s the dire prediction from political strategist Chai Komanduri, who was a guest on MSNBC’s “The Beat” today.

Komanduri told host Ari Melber:

“This was about a personal grudge that Matt Gaetz had with Kevin McCarthy. He decided to take him out. He also decided to take him out — I believe, and the facts bear it out — at the behest of Donald Trump. Donald Trump wants a government shutdown. You know, that is exactly what Kevin McCarthy’s great sin was. He did not shut down the government and create an atmosphere of chaos by which Donald Trump thought he’d climb back into the presidency. That was what this was about. It was about a government shutdown, it was about shutting off aid to Ukraine.”

That led Melber to ask:

“Let me ask you this. When you see Matt Gaetz, who seems to happy with this outcome, does that suggest that MAGA, which faces some vulnerability on being perceived as being too extreme, has moved the speakership and thus the majority to the right?”

Absolutely,” Komanduri replied. “I wish I could say Matt Gaetz lost, MAGA lost, but no, they won and America has lost. He has put in a speaker that will do Donald Trump’s bidding. Get ready. We’ll have a government shutdown. We’re going to shut down aid to Ukraine to help Trump’s major benefactor, Vladimir Putin. That’s what’s going to occur.”

Komanduri added:

“And do not be fooled by the Halloween costume you saw on display today. Matt Gaetz as reasonable, bipartisan, centrist, anti-corruption guy. That’s not who he is. That is not who Mike Johnson is. Mike Johnson is every bit the flamethrower that Jim Jordan is, he just wears a pair of glasses and dons a Clark Kent disguise.”

Democracy is on the ballot in next year’s election. If we don’t vote Republicans out of power at ever level, this republic is doomed.

Openly Gay House Democrat Trolls New House Speaker – And It’s Absolutely Perfect

During a vote today in the House of Representatives that elevated Rep. Mike Johnson (R-LA) to the speaker’s chair, one of the Democrats who stood and announced her vote against him also managed to get a sly barb in that was clearly directed at the Louisiana Republican.

Rep. Angie Craig (D-MN) cast her vote for House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), but it was how she cast the vote that drew national attention and is getting the congresswoman both headlines and plaudits.

Today is Congresswoman Craig’s 15th wedding anniversary, so she used her moment in the spotlight to pay tribute to her wife, Cheryl, remarking:

“Happy wedding anniversary to my wife.”

Democratic House members rose to their feet in response, giving Craig a standing ovation. Here’s the video, along with another jab at Speaker Johnson:

The congresswoman also shared photos of her and her wife.

In case you’re wondering if Johnson had any reaction to what Rep. Craig said, that was provided by “PBS NewsHour” correspondent Lisa Desjardins:

Johnson, who is virulently anti-LGBT, probably doesn’t even understand that he’s about to be the punch line of a million dick jokes. After all, his last name is slang for a penis.

So by all means, have fun with that, Speaker Dickhead.

House Republican Pillories Matt Gaetz In Letter Dripping With Sarcasm And Snark

Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) might want to take a few days of personal leave from the U.S. House of Representatives, because it seems like each day brings more bad news for him and the GOP as they continue to fumble around in their search for the next speaker of the House.

This time, the criticism is coming from inside the House GOP caucus itself, as Rep. Tom McClintock (R-CA) has completely excoriated Gaetz and other Republican extremists who were successful in removing former speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) from his post, but cannot manage to find a replacement that gets the required 217 votes.

In a letter dripping with sarcasm, McClintock directs his comments to Gaetz and seven other right-wing House members who booted out McCarthy despite having no plan for who would follow him.

“Dear Wayward Colleague,” the letter begins. “Your letter of October 20, in which you graciously offer to martyr yourselves as long as you can get your way, is perhaps the most selfless act in American history.”

McClintock then adds:

“Your sacrifice is not in vain. You have succeeded in replacing the outdated concept of majority rule with an exciting new standard that a Speaker must be elected by 98.2 percent of the Republican conference. Someday, a messiah will be born unto us who can achieve this miraculous threshold, and on that day your judgment will be vindicated and you will be hailed as the geniuses that you are.”

But perhaps the most hilarious and utterly sarcastic portion of the letter brings to mind the fact that Gaetz and his fellow extremists shouldn’t be taken seriously, but have to be because they’re holding the entire country hostage at a time when the United States is trying to bolster two allies, Israel and Ukraine, but no aid can be sent to those two countries because the House is in complete disarray,.

“I think we were all truly humbled to learn that your ‘fidelity to Republican virtues and principles remains unwavering.’ Who could not be moved to tears to read that you offer your self-sacrifice ‘sincerely and with the hope of unity with purpose?’

“With this in mind, I modestly suggest that you plan your martyrdom in the only way that truly matters: to have the wisdom to see the damage you have done to our country and to have the courage to set things right before it is too late. I enclose a proposed resolution that perhaps one of you can offer as we begin the fourth week of national paralysis and as the world burns around us.”

Reading the letter, it sort of makes you wonder if perhaps Tom McClintock should put his name into consideration for speaker of the House. If nothing else, his speech to the Congress would be epic and unforgettable.

Nancy Pelosi Lays The Ultimate Burn On The GOP After They Fail To Elect Jim Jordan As Speaker

Another day, another failed attempt by House Republicans to elect a speaker of the House.

After pushing through a vote this afternoon that some in the GOP were hoping might see Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) get enough votes to be the next speaker, the Ohio Republican instead got humiliated by garnering fewer votes that Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY), the Washington Post reported.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), a conservative firebrand allied with former president Donald Trump, failed to win over enough Republican holdouts to reach a majority on the House floor to become the next speaker. The Ohio Republican confirmed Tuesday evening there would not be another round of voting until at least 11 a.m. on Wednesday.Jordan is seeking to succeed Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), who was ousted as speaker two weeks ago. Jordan became the Republican nominee after Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.), the first choice of the GOP conference, withdrew from the race last week.

Jordan could only afford to lose three GOP votes. Instead, he lost 20, suggesting that his support is dropping with each passing day.

As members of Congress walked off the House floor, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) commented, “I feel sad for the institution. I think it’s sad that they’re getting worse and worse.”

But it was what she said next that may well be the perfect summation of Republican dysfunction:

“They should take a lesson in mathematics and learn how to count.”

Game, set, and match Nancy Pelosi. Mic drop.
