Jen Psaki Lays The Ultimate Burn On Jim Jordan And His Sham Congressional Hearings

Sunday on her MSNBC show, former White House press secretary Jen Psaki let House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) have it with both barrels, calling him out for the hypocrisy of his demanding that Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg testify before his committee on the issue of his office’s possible future indictment of failed former president Donald Trump.

Psaki began by noting that Jordan and other Republicans in Congress only want to question Bragg so they can try and extract information from him that would benefit the disgraced ex-president.

“I’m not freaking out about what [House Speaker] Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) or Jim Jordan are up to because I’m not sure they really thought all of this through. For one, these Republicans have gone out on a limb — way out, way out on a limb. To start with they are defending Trump before they even know what charges he might face.”

She added:

“From a legal perspective, experts point out that Jim Jordan and his colleagues are overestimating their power including my guest [former AG Eric Holder] I just had on, the former attorney general of the United States. The former counsel to the House Judiciary Committee also pointed out this week that Congress cannot lawfully use its investigative power to engage in law enforcement. Even if they resorted to a subpoena, he also wrote, any such subpoenas should be unenforceable.”

As for Jordan’s hearings on the “weaponization” of government in the Biden administration and fake “whistleblowers,” Psaki remarked, “It turned out they weren’t really whistleblowers at all. In fact, they weren’t even credible witnesses. That was according to a Democratic report which revealed that none of those witnesses provided anything of substance. Instead, they endorsed conspiracy theories related to January 6th, the efficacy of Covid vaccines and the outcome of the 2020 election.”

At the end of the day, Psaki concluded, Jordan and his GOP associates are all hat and no cattle:

“If all that wasn’t bad enough, the report also exposed how the witnesses were basically bought and paid for by former Trump officials — you can’t make it up sometimes. Again, when it comes to these attacks on Alvin Bragg, House Republicans are not only on pretty shaky legal ground, they also haven’t shown themselves to be the most competent of investigators. There is no Sherlock Holmes in the group here that we can see.”

Jim Jordan is certainly no Sherlock Holmes. Matter of fact, he’s one of the dumbest son of a bitches currently walking on the face of the Earth.

Crowd At Trump’s Texas Rally Began Leaving After 30 Minutes: Report

Based on the behavior of the crowd that showed up for failed, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump’s Saturday rally in Waco, Texas, the 2024 race for the White House could wind up being a rocky one for the disgraced ex-president.

According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, large numbers of the MAGA faithful began heading for the exits after just 30 minutes.

Trump arrived shortly before 6 p.m., his plane circling the airport as attendees intently looked to the heavens. He wrapped up at 7:32 in the evening, though quite a few fans did not last that long.

About 30 minutes into the rally, the crowd began to thin, with people getting a head start on the walk back to the parking lots, designated and otherwise. Several leaving early said they accomplished what they wanted to achieve by showing up for the rally, enduring traffic and long lines. Some said after hours on the tarmac, they were tired, hungry or both and wanted to get home.

Since when are the Trump fanatics thinking about being tired or hungry when their tangerine savior is speaking?

Then again, maybe it was the speech itself, which was a litany of worn-out grievances and racist tropes, including the usual bullshit about how the 2020 election had been stolen (minus any tangible proof) and anyone who tries to indict him is actually attacking his supporters.

But it sounds like much of the fervor for Trump and his noxious rhetoric has begun to die down. Maybe because people are sick and tired of the same old shit. Or maybe because even he doesn’t actually have his heart in another run for president. After all, the only reason he’s running is so he can try to forestall the inevitable prison terms that are on the way.

Trump Is Trying To Keep His Classified Documents Case From SCOTUS – Here’s Why

When failed former president Donald Trump and his legal team refused to try and stop one of his attorneys from testifying before a federal grand jury recently, many were left scratching their heads, wondering why the ruling of a lower court ordering the Trump lawyer to testify wasn’t appealed all the way to the United States Supreme Court.

MSNBC legal analyst Lisa Rubin notes in an article she wrote for the network that the disgraced ex-president and his attorneys appear to be playing the long game, and that could come back to haunt them down the line.

Trump has made clear he believes this Supreme Court — controlled by conservative justices, three of whom he appointed — owes him one. My hunch is that Trump’s team let Corcoran’s testimony happen because of what’s likely involved in any request to pause, much less, review a crime-fraud-related ruling: the evidence.

Put another way, if Trump had petitioned the Supreme Court to stay Corcoran’s testimony and document production, the justices would have seen some, if not all, of what Judge Howell and the three-judge panel on the D.C. Circuit have already reviewed: proof that Trump misled Corcoran and engaged in criminal conduct.

If Trump had used up his judicial lifeline, appealed to the high court and they ruled against him, it would be game over and he’d likely be on his way to a multi-count indictment on charges ranging from mishandling of classified information to violations of the Espionage Act. And if the former president is found guilty on those charges, he’ll likely spend the rest of his life in federal prison.

Rubin explained the reasonsing:

And for someone whose one last hope, if he is ultimately charged or tried by any of the multiple entities now investigating him, is that same Supreme Court, letting the justices see evidence of his alleged crimes now would be a bridge too far. Even if that means Corcoran’s notes and transcripts of “personal audio recordings” are now in the DOJ’s control, even if Corcoran had to return to the grand jury as a witness the day after arguing the application of Trump’s other privileges, Trump can’t afford to lose the Supreme Court yet.

But even if Trump’s documents case does wind up before the nine justices, there’s a good chance he won’t get any relief there, either. Because if the court allows him to get away with such a serious violation of law, it would be setting the sort of precedent that would, in years to come, turn future U.S. heads of state into absolute dictators who can rule by fiat And that would mean American democracy was dead.

Former Friend Says ‘Insane’ Trump Is ‘Shriveling Away’ As Legal Pressure Is Applied

Donnie Deutsch is an advertising, branding, and marketing expert who has known failed former president Donald Trump for decades and once considered him a close friend.

As a result, Deutsch has a great deal of insight into the personality and psyche of the ex-president, some of which he offered up on MSNBC Friday when asked by reporter Jonathan Lemire, “You are someone who has known Donald Trump for a long time. There is reporting this week about him being arrested this week, how it will be good publicity. You know, smile for the cameras were there to be a perp walk.”

Deutsch explained:

“I think for his base, they love it. I don’t think he loses a lot of votes, but he certainly loses the opportunity to get back any of those independents, any of the suburban voters. And I think the Reverend [Al Sharpton] really kind of nailed in the last hour, You’re really seeing — this is a frightened man at this point.”

The former advertising executive then added:

“I’m going to use one of his terms: this is a caged animal who is backed in the corner. He’s looking that way and he’s acting that way — and he’s unhinged and it is so frightening though, when he went through those disgusting anti-Semitic racial tropes, that ‘Soros-backed animal,’ you might as well say dirty Jew Black animal, you might as well say those words because that is what he’s saying. And the fact that other Republicans, including [Florida Gov. Ron] DeSantis, the number one challenger, does the same thing, does the Soros thing, the same ‘Jew-backing’ this Black man — and one used the word ‘master’ — I think that was [Rep. Elise] Stefanik and whatnot — that’s the stunning talk.”

But it was what Deutsch said next that should concern anyone who cares about the safety and security of the United States as we near a criminal indictment of Trump:

“We know Trump is insane. We know he has lost his mind, we know he’s just continually, continually shriveling away.”

Insane people are unpredictable, and that means that this country will be on alert in the days leading up to, the day of, and the days after Donald Trump is indicted in Manhattan, and potentially in other venues, too.

Terrified Trump Predicts ‘Death And Destruction’ If He’s Indicted

As his likely indictment in Manhattan draws closer with each day, failed one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump gets more anxious and desperate to try and forestall the inevitable.

Proof of that can be found in a posting he made Friday on his failing Trump Social site in which he predicted there would be “death and destruction” if and when charges are handed down against him.

“What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country? Why and who would do such a thing? Only a degenerate psychopath that truely (sic) hates the USA!”

On Thursday, Trump went on an ALL CAPS rant:

“EVERYBODY KNOWS I’M 100% INNOCENT, INCLUDING BRAGG, BUT HE DOESN’T CARE. HE IS JUST CARRYING OUT THE PLANS OF THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS. OUR COUNTRY IS BEING DESTROYED, AS THEY TELL US TO BE PEACEFUL!”

Both of those frantic postings were the topic of discussion on Friday’s edition of “Morning Joe,” with MSNBC host Al Sharpton noting, “Beneath it all, from when I knew Donald Trump before, I think that he is very nervous. We are looking at a man that is becoming unhinged. (It) shows a man that has lost control. He is hearing footsteps and they’re getting closer.”

Host Joe Scarborough agreed:

“The guy is shaking in his boots. Now, of course, he’s threatening the lives of other people.

“But you read these tweets or whatever you call it on that failing platform, and this is a guy who, you’re right, he’s out of his mind scared. He is melting down. Now, he is threatening riots that will lead to death and destruction if he is charged.”
