New York Prosecutors Now Have An Eyewitness To Trump’s Financial Crimes: Report

In any criminal investigation, prosecutors always look for an eyewitness who can place the perpetrator at the scene of the crime and give a full description of what he or she saw.

That’s true even when you’re dealing with financial crimes such as the ones failed, one-term former President Donald Trump and his company are suspected of having committed over the course of decades. Every prosecutor is looking for the proverbial smoking gun.

According to The Daily Beast, investigators with the offices of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. and Attorney General Letitia James have an eyewitness who saw the former president personally sign off on cheating when it came to taxes:

“A witness in the New York investigation against the Trump Organization has told prosecutors that Donald Trump personally guaranteed he would cover school costs for the family members of two employees in lieu of a raise—directly implicating the former president in an ongoing criminal tax fraud case.

“The explosive claims come from Jennifer Weisselberg, the ex-wife of a longtime company employee, during a teleconference call with investigators on Friday, June 25, according to two sources who agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity.”

During that teleconference, which took place via Zoom, Ms. Weisselberg was asked if Trump himself was part of a scheme to give employees at the Trump Organization corporate gifts in lieu of an increased salary which would have to be taxed.

Her response: Trump was involved, and she then gave an account of what she personally witnessed:

“In January 2012, inside Trump’s office at Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue, Jennifer Weisselberg watched as Trump discussed compensation with her husband and her father-in-law, both company employees. Her husband wouldn’t be getting a raise, but their children would get their tuition paid for at a top-rated private academy instead.

Weisselberg allegedly relayed to prosecutors that Trump turned to her and said: ‘Don’t worry, I’ve got it covered.'”

The reaction from prosecutors was immediate: They were astonished.

Details provided by Ms. Weisselberg were used as part of the indictments of Allen Weisselberg and the Trump Organization which were unsealed on July 1. In those indictments, prosecutors allege:

“The scheme allowed the Trump Organization to evade the payment of payroll taxes that [it] was required to pay.”

Game, set, and match.

Trump is clearly tied to the existing crimes specified in the indictments and that means a superseding indictment (or indictments) will be coming in the near future. Those will charge Donald Trump and also likely include the names of his two eldest sons, Don Jr, Eric, and his daughter, Ivanka, all of whom have been involved in the family business for years.

Donald Trump is going down. The evidence is there, the witnesses are cooperating, and the crimes are undeniable.
