Just Released Court Transcript Shows How Rattled Trump Gets When Questioned Under Oath

Disgraced, one-term, twice-impeached former president Donald Trump hates when he has to testify under oath because he lies so much that being sworn to tell the truth is almost a guaranteed perjury charge.

So it should come as no surprise that a just released court transcript of Trump’s deposition in a defamation lawsuit filed by writer E. Jean Carroll shows the Donald getting angry, flummoxed, and downright rattled when asked questions by an attorney for Ms. Carroll.

Kyle Cheney of Politico was the first to report on the transcript and one section is especially interesting.

Carroll’s attorney asked Trump about a social media posting he made in which he suggested Carroll was “paid by a radical, left-leaning publisher to say bad an untrue things.”

Which publisher are you referring to, the attorney inquired, to which Trump responded:

“I just heard it was a publisher that did some very bad books on us.”

The attorney countered:

“I’ll represent to you that her publisher was Harper Collins.”

Trump:

“Yeah and they haven’t been great.”

When the attorney let Trump know that Harper Collins had also published the book written by his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, the ex-president replied, “Could be, but they published some very bad ones too.”

At another point, the attorney asked about a statement Trump made on his Truth Social site that Ms. Carroll’s lawsuit was a “complete con job.”

Q. Why did you decide to issue the statement on Truth Social on October 12th?

A. Because I was offended at this woman’s lie. Because I was offended that she could just make up a story out of cold air, refuted by her testimony on CNN, but that she could make up a story just out of nowhere and that I get a phone call asking me about this ridiculous situation. The woman — there’s something wrong with her in my opinion. Okay. But it’s a false accusation. Never happened, never would happen. And I posted and I will continue to post until such time as — and then I will sue her after this is over, and that’s the thing I really look forward to doing. And I’ll sue you too because this is — how many cases do you have? Many, many cases, and I know the statements that were made — that you made. Keep Trump busy because this is the way you defeat him, to keep him busy with litigation. So I will be suing you also, but I’ll be suing her very strongly as soon as this But I’ll be suing you also.

Q. Are you done?

A. Yeah.

Donald Trump is his own worst enemy, especially when he’s under oath. No wonder he hates having to appear in court: He can’t recall the lies he told the last time he was under oath.
