Gaetz And Greene Attack Each Other Over Biden Impeachment Inquiry Announcement

Earlier this morning, Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) announced that he was calling in all relevant House committees to open a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden, though he failed to specific what high crimes or misdemeanors he thought Biden might have committed.

According to NBC News:

Speaking to reporters during a news conference Tuesday, McCarthy said an impeachment inquiry into Biden is a “logical next step” of the GOP-led investigations that have been going on for months.

“This logical next step will give our committees the full power to gather all the facts and answers for the American public is exactly what we want to know the answers,” he said. “I believe the president would want to answer these questions and allegations as well.”

House Republicans, McCarthy said, “uncovered serious and credible allegations into President Biden’s conduct.”

“These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption,” he said. “They warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.”

While most Republicans in the House said they supported McCarthy’s move, the two biggest GOP showboats of them all, Reps. Matt Gaetz (FL) and Marjorie Taylor Greene (GA) feuded on social media over who had been the most vocal about the impeachment inquiry.

Gaetz posted, “When Speaker McCarthy makes his announcement in moments, remember that as I pushed him for weeks, [Fox News host Brian] Kilmeade said I was: “Speaking into the wind” on impeachment,” wrote Gaetz. “Turns out, the wind may be listening!”

That led Greene to counter:

“Correction my friend. I introduced articles of impeachment against Joe Biden for his corrupt business dealings in Ukraine & China while he was Vice President on his very first day in office. You wouldn’t cosponsor those and I had to drag you kicking and screaming to get you to cosponsor my articles on the border. Who’s really been making the push?”

As is so often the case with self-absorbed assholes like Gaetz and Greene, both have a desperate need to be seen as leading their party. But their party is currently being led by little more than a lust for vengeance and a desire to curry favor with the twice-impeached Donald Trump.
