Twitter Brings Down The House With Hilarious Kevin McCarthy Jokes: ‘Best Season Of C-SPAN…Ever’

It’s been an abysmal week for House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who is trying to become the next Speaker of the House.

By extension, it’s also been a bad week for all House Republicans because they’re making the Keystone Cops look competent.

At last count, McCarthy had lost 10 straight ballots for the Speaker’s chair, with Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) getting the most votes, which is humiliating for the GOP when you consider they have the majority of the votes in the chamber.

According to The Hill, here’s the latest update on the search for a Speaker:

Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) appears to have lost the 10th vote for Speaker of the House.

The preliminary results were largely unchanged from all three of Wednesday’s and Thursday’s first three votes, with McCarthy garnering 200 votes, 20 Republicans voting for another candidate and one voting “present.”

Lawmakers are still in negotiations but are touting progress.

This will send the Speakership fight to a 11th ballot for the first time since before the Civil War. It’s unclear if that vote will happen tonight.

Long story short: It’s a clusterfuck.

However, despite all the chaos, one good thing has come out of this: Humor. Specifically, internet humor. Take a look:

Giuliani Gets Relentlessly Mocked After Posting An ‘Unintelligible’ New Year’s Greeting

2022 was not a good year for Rudy Giuliani, so it’s understandable that he’d be eager to say goodbye to ’02 and welcome 2023 with open arms, even though he’s facing plenty of legal obstacles in the future.

How bad was 2022 for Rudy? Let us count the ways:

  • His law license was suspended and he will likely never get it back
  • His involvement in the efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 election have him in very hot water legally
  • It appears he’s drinking more than ever
  • He’s still defending Trump, which at this stage of the game is tantamount to a declaration of his own cluelessness and guilt

In a video he shot on New Year’s Eve, Rudy announces, “Mar-a-Lago 2023 New Year headed right to 2024!” which is likely a reference to Trump’s already fading campaign for the 2024 GOP presidential nomination.

Giuliani continues to blather, but most of what he says can’t be heard because “Footloose” by Kenny Loggins (circa 1984) is playing so damn loud that airplanes flying at 20,000 feet above Palm Springs likely heard it.

Here’s the video:

Damn! That’s both hilarious and slightly pathetic. Some things should never be shared on social media, yet Rudy felt the need to do so and spread his mentally defective shitstorm all over the internet.

One good thing did come from Giuliani’s video: The mockery and trolling that accompanied it.

Elon Musk Has Become The First Person In History To Lose $200 Billion

Twitter and Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk is, according to some, a great businessman who has an uncanny knack for making money in any market.

But it appears that reputation is nothing but hype, as Musk has now become the first person in history to ever lose $200 billion of their net worth.

According to Bloomberg, Musk’s sudden reversal of fortune is tied to the decline of value in Tesla stock, which has been tanking in recent weeks.

Musk, 51, has seen his wealth plummet to $137 billion after Tesla shares tumbled in recent weeks, including an 11% drop on Tuesday, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His fortune peaked at $340 billion on Nov. 4, 2021, and he remained the world’s richest person until he was overtaken this month by Bernard Arnault, the French tycoon behind luxury-goods powerhouse LVMH.

How bad are things for Tesla? The company is now offering deep discounts on its electric vehicles.

Now Tesla’s dominance in electric cars, the foundation of its lofty valuation,  is in jeopardy as competitors catch up. It’s offering US consumers a rare  $7,500 discount to take delivery of its two highest-volume models before year-end, while also reportedly reducing production at its Shanghai plant.

Oh, there’s also the matter of Musk’s $44 billion purchase of Twitter, which has been beset with one problem after another since he took control in October.

But to hear Musk tell it, every problem he faces is someone else’s fault.

Musk, for his part, has dismissed concerns about Tesla and has repeatedly taken to Twitter to criticize the Federal Reserve for raising interest rates at the fastest pace in a generation.

“Tesla is executing better than ever!” Musk tweeted on Dec. 16. “We don’t control the Federal Reserve. That is the real problem here.”

And in what may wind up being the biggest irony of all, Musk has also warned not to take on large amounts of debt in such an uncertain financial market, remarking on the All-In podcast:

“I would really advise people not to have margin debt in a volatile stock market and you know, from a cash standpoint, keep powder dry. You can get some pretty extreme things happening in a down market.”

Too bad he didn’t follow his own advice.

Trump Posts Threats As His Tax Returns Are Released: ‘Going To Lead To Horrible Things’

The House Ways and Means Committee released six years of failed former president Donald Trump’s tax returns this morning, and at first blush it certainly appears that the ex-president may well have manipulated the numbers to keep his tax burden low, including not paying a dime in taxes some years.

CNN reports that during the first and last years Trump was in the White House, he paid almost nothing in taxes.

The returns, long shrouded in secrecy, were released to the public on Friday by the House Ways and Means Committee, the culmination of a battle over their disclosure that went to the Supreme Court. They confirm a report issued from the Joint Committee on Taxation that Trump claimed large losses before and throughout his presidency that he carried forward to reduce or practically eliminate his tax burden. For example, his returns show that he carried forward a $105 million loss in 2015 and $73 million in 2016.

The committee also included an analysis of Trump’s tax returns, and it too raises all sorts of questions about how he and his company, the Trump Organization, managed to have such a miniscule tax liability.

Included with the committee’s report was an analysis of the numbers from each of the six Trump tax returns by the nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation. Among the JCT’s findings, the then-president paid very little federal income tax in 2017 – just $750 – and nothing in 2020. The report also showed Trump paid a combined $1.1 million in federal income taxes in 2018 and 2019, a stark contrast to the $750 he paid in 2017 and $0 in 2020.

For many years, prior to his running for president, a New York Times investigation showed that Trump had claimed huge net operating losses that he was allowed to carry forward and apply to future tax years, which greatly reduced or simply wiped out his annual income tax liability.

For example, the JCT report noted that Trump carried forward $105 million in losses on his 2015 return, $73 million in 2016, $45 million in 2017 and $23 million in 2018.

Minutes after the tax returns were made public, Trump issued a statement via his spokesperson, Liz Harrington, which at times reads like a threat.

“The Democrats should have never done it, the Supreme Court should have never approved it, and it’s going to lead to horrible things for so many people. The great USA divide will now grow far worse. The radical, left Democrats have weaponized everything, but remember, that is a dangerous two-way street!”

There was also this:

“The ‘Trump’ tax returns once again show how proudly successful I have been and how I have been able to use depreciation and various other tax deductions as an incentive for creating thousands of jobs and magnificent structures and enterprises.”

He sounds furious and nervous. That alone tells you the tax returns contain evidence of criminal behavior.

Kickboxer Tries To Troll Greta Thunberg And Gets His A*s (And Other Body Parts) Handed To Him

Swedish environmentalist Greta Thunberg laid one hell of a nasty burn on kickboxer Andrew Tate, and the internet is cheering her brilliant clapback to his pathetic attempt at trolling.

Tate, it should be noted, started the dustup with Thunberg, HuffPost notes.

Tate tweeted Thunberg directly on Tuesday to tell her: “I have 33 cars.”

He then explained in detail how large his car engines are, before adding: “This is just the start.

“Please provide your email address so I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective enormous emissions.”

It probably won’t surprise you to learn that Tate is a misogynistic jerk, as The Guardian recently reported.

Andrew Tate says women belong in the home, can’t drive, and are a man’s property.

He also thinks rape victims must “bear responsibility” for their attacks and dates women aged 18–19 because he can “make an imprint” on them, according to videos posted online.

In other clips, the British-American kickboxer – who poses with fast cars, guns and portrays himself as a cigar-smoking playboy – talks about hitting and choking women, trashing their belongings and stopping them from going out.

“It’s bang out the machete, boom in her face and grip her by the neck. Shut up bitch,” he says in one video, acting out how he’d attack a woman if she accused him of cheating. In another, he describes throwing a woman’s things out of the window. In a third, he calls an ex-girlfriend who accused him of hitting her – an allegation he denies – a “dumb hoe”.

Thunberg had the perfect comeback to Tate, and she shared it so the entire internet could enjoy.

Judging by the responses, the vast majority of Twitter users loved it.
