Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) has said some incredibly stupid, bigoted, and absurd things during her two years in Congress, but something she suggested Friday may well be a new low for her.
According to Boebert, no American should be allowed to come out as LGBTQ until they turn 21.
“We require people to be 21 to purchase alcohol beverages, and 21 to purchase tobacco products.
“Why is it so unreasonable to require people to reach a certain level of maturity before making life-altering decisions about their sexuality and identity?”
If we’re going to impose such a restriction on people’s sexuality, wouldn’t it also be reasonable to insist that you can’t own a gun until you’re 21? Boebert would no doubt be opposed to such a measure because she thinks we should all carry weapons of mass murder everywhere we go.
Twitter quickly reminded Boebert just how utterly moronic her suggestion was.
Former Trump administration chief strategist Steve Bannon was rendered momentarily speechless by former Minnesota GOP Congresswoman Michele Bachmann during an episode of his “War Room: Pandemic” podcast when Bachmann began referring to bizarre theories about the Biblical end of times.
Specifically, Bachmann insisted that what is currently happening in the United States and world is designed to force us into a global government system:
Weakened? The U.S. is far and away the strongest economic and military force on the globe, so what in the hell is this dingbat yammering about?
Bachmann continued her rant by referring to lecture by a so-called Christian “scholar” who convinced her that everything currently happening in the world is the fulfillment of Biblical prophecy:
All Bannon could say in response was: “Uncanny.” But if you watch the video, you can tell he doesn’t exactly say it with any real conviction.
You have to be pretty damn crazy to silence a professional conspiracy theorist like Steve Bannon. Apparently, some people truly are too damn wackadoodle to walk among us. Someone needs to drop a net over Michele Bachmann and put her in the looney bin where she belongs.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki will leave the Biden administration in May and join MSNBC, according to a report from Sara Fischer of Axios.
White House press secretary Jen Psaki is in exclusive talks with MSNBC to join the network after she leaves the White House around May, according to a source close to the matter.
Why it matters: It’s been speculated for weeks that Psaki would leave the White House for a TV gig. White House communications staffers often negotiate TV jobs once they leave an administration.
Psaki, who has served as press secretary since Biden took office, is expected to host a show for MSNBC on NBCUniversal’s streaming platform, Peacock.
In addition to those duties, Psaki will also be a part of the network’s live programming, but won’t replace Rachel Maddow in the 9:00 p.m. timeslot. There had been rumors that Psaki would be the permanent replacement for Maddow, who is currently on hiatus.
Axios also notes that streaming platforms such as Peacock have opened up new opportunities for top talent such as Psaki to host their own shows without it necessitating a major shift in in the live TV broadcast portion of the network.
Psaki has become known for using facts instead of spin in response to questions from reporters, especially Fox News correspondent Peter Doocy, who recently tried to trip her up on the issue of gas prices, only to be slapped down by Psaki, who told him:
Martin Joseph Anglehart thought he was doing the right thing by contributing $13,000 to the trucker “Freedom Convoy” that was held recently in Canada.
But it turns out he made an enormous mistake and is now homeless, penniless, and living in his SUV as a result of being so gullible, according to CBC:
“I regret going,” said Martin Joseph Anglehart, who spoke to CBC via Zoom from Hope, B.C.
Anglehart said he has “nothing left” after spending his life savings on gas and food for the occupiers, who disrupted Ottawa’s downtown core for more than three weeks.
“I started delivering fuel and picking up laundry. Everything for the truckers.”
From Jan. 28 to Feb. 14, bank statements provided to CBC show Anglehart transferred thousands of dollars and spent thousands more at a gas station near Coventry Road — where he was stationed for the majority of the protest.
Even his bank account has been frozen under provisions of the Emergencies Act.
Oddly enough, Anglehart admits that he never even had a point of view on the issue of mask and vaccine mandates, which were the impetus for the trucker convoy that blocked a major bridge between the U.S. and Canada for several days in March.
He also says he now realizes that what he and the truckers did was detrimental to others and he wants to apologize:
University of Ottawa law professor Joao Velloso said Anglehart’s story is similar to those of many who took part in the protests and are now paying a heavy price for their participation:
There’s also the matter of a $300 million class-action lawsuit filed by downtown Ottawa residents and businesses. That could completely bankrupt people like Marin Anglehart.
Karma can be one mean son of a bitch, as many who took part in the Freedom Convoy are finding out the hard way.
