House Republicans Planning ‘Payback’ On Cheney And Kinzinger If GOP Wins Midterms

If Republicans win control of the House of Representatives in the upcoming midterm elections, they have plans to punish two GOP members of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, Reps. Liz Cheney (WY) and Adam Kinzinger (IL).

According to a report from CNN, Republicans would likely use the House Judiciary Committee to target those they feel didn’t agree to lie and obfuscate for failed, one-term former president Donald Trump:

The GOP’s growing desire to craft a counternarrative on January 6 — and shift the blame away from Trump — comes as the former President is gearing up to soon announce another White House bid. Pursuing that effort could also be politically advantageous for McCarthy, whose expected bid for speaker would be made easier with support from Trump. The former President has sometimes criticized the California Republican over how he has handled the GOP’s defense of Trump during the select committee’s investigation.

Republicans might even try to create their own Jan. 6 committee in a pathetic attempt to spread the “big lie” Trump has suggested proves that the 2020 election was stolen from him, even though he has yet to provide a shred of evidence other than conspiracy theories and right-wing talking points while also punishing Cheney and Kinzinger for daring to serve on the current bipartisan panel:

Republicans have already asked the January 6 panel to preserve a broad range of documents in its possession — a signal they’re preparing to force those records to be turned over should they wield powerful committee gavels next year. And privately, Republican sources say there have been discussions about subpoenaing members of the select committee, particularly Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who is fighting an uphill battle for reelection, and retiring Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, if both Republicans are private citizens next year.

In other words, rather than doing anything worthwhile if they happen to win control of the House, the GOP will engage in behavior better suited for children. It’s proof-positive that every last Republican needs to be voted out of office in order to save our democracy.

Comedian Trolls Republicans With Hilarious Parody Websites

Chances are you’ve never heard of Toby Morton, who has written for comedy shows and also provided voices for characters on “South Park.”

But Morton is playing a major role in the 2022 midterm elections, and his acquisition of website domains that he turns into parody pages mocking congressional Republicans is drawing national attention, according to The New York Post:

On elisestefanik2022.com, the upstate congresswoman’s slogan is shown as “Let’s Keep It White,” and a whole page is dedicated to replacement theory — the fringe idea that elites and Democrats are creating lax immigration policies to replace and disenfranchise white Americans.

Her mock “About Me” section says: “I am a vile and disgusting politician who is responsible for the Buffalo NY shooting spree,” referring to the recent massacre where gunman Payton Gendron allegedly slaughtered 10 Black people and wounded three other shoppers at a supermarket.

The domains are incredibly cheap, usually costing less than $20 each, and they allow Morton to go after House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who is ridiculed with three words at kevinmccarthy2022.com: “Kompromat. Coward. Adulterer?”

There’s also comedy gold at Congressmanmattgaetz.com, which will take you to the Wikipedia page for “sex trafficking.”

As you’d expect, the politicians being skewered are not the least bit amused by what Morton is doing, with Alex deGrasse, a spokesman for Rep. Stefanik remarking:

“He spends all his time as a troll on social media, a scam PAC artist launching sexist and false attacks against Republican female leaders, and raising money for himself under the congresswoman’s name in a desperate attempt to gain acceptance from the radical left blue checkmark brigade. We pray he gets the therapy and a real job he so desperately needs.”

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) got so peeved by Morton’s online jabs at her she had her office send him a cease and desist letter in which she accused him of defamed her and used photos of her without permission, which led the comedian to note:

“I think they just wanted to scare me, so they sent this stupid email.”

As we’ve always suspected, Republicans have no sense of humor whatsoever. Especially when they’re the butt of the joke.

Boebert Facing Eviction From Her Colorado Gun-Themed Restaurant

Even if she does manage to win a second term in Congress, it appears that Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) won’t be able to forestall the closing of her restaurant, Shooters Grill, which is facing eviction at the end of August, though it could also be much sooner than that.

The Daily Beast reports:

Boebert told The Daily Beast that she and her husband, Jayson Boebert, had been surprised to receive the notice last week announcing that their lease would not be renewed. The building’s ownership changed hands last month, she said, and now Shooters would either have to find new digs or shut down for good.

But the day after that notice arrived, an anti-Boebert political group somehow got word that the timeline was even tighter than that—two weeks, the group said, putting the possible ouster just days before Republicans hit the polls for primary day.

Her employees hadn’t heard that yet, so Boebert scrambled to quash that rumor, which she characterized to The Daily Beast as rank misinformation. Still, the truth stood: The restaurant she and her husband founded eight years ago was on the brink of closing.

Shooters Grill is an essential part of the “success” story Boebert has sold to voters, asserting that she rose from nothing and managed to become a successful business owner with hard work and a belief in the American dream.

The facts, however, suggest that Boebert’s definition of success isn’t exactly in line with reality.

A recent report from Mother Jones revealed that Shooters is already on the verge of collapsing financially:

Employees tell me they believed that Boebert’s husband, who works as a consultant in the oil and gas industry, was keeping the company afloat. “There were times when we were waiting for him to get his check, so that way she could get us our check,” one former employee says. According to Boyington, “He’s the one who paid the rent, all the bills, everything.”

And yet Boebert insists the restaurant is doing fine financially:

“Does a restaurant ever turn a profit? No, we’re doing fine. We’re not in the red, we’re—we’re in the black, so it’s a lot better than last year.”

As with nearly everything Boebert says, it’s almost impossible to separate the truth from the mountain of bullshit that surrounds it.

VIRAL VIDEO: Enraged Republican Calls Ted Cruz A ‘Coward’ At Texas GOP Convention

The Texas GOP convention was held over the weekend, and judging by some of the speeches and overall tone of those who delivered them, it’s accurate to say that the Lone Star State is getting more right-wing by the minute, with attendees loudly booing anyone who disagreed with them on any issue.

One Republican who got an earful was Texas Sen. Ted Cruz, who always seems to be at the center of one controversy or the other, if only because he simply doesn’t know when to keep his trap shut.

But it was what happened to Cruz after he had already spoken to the convention that’s making news.

According to Newsweek, an enraged man called Cruz a coward and a globalist before he was finally escorted away from the senator:

“Remember how Trump made fun of your wife and you went and became best friends with Trump, why do you do that?” the man said as he approached Cruz who was sitting at a table in the convention hall.

“You go and become best friends with Trump after he makes fun of you and your wife, why do you do that?”

The man continued his angry rant:

“It is because you are a coward, I do love America, you don’t.

“You care more about the border between Ukraine and Russia than you do about the border between Texas and Mexico, why is that?”

Even as the man was being ushered away, he continued to verbally excoriate Cruz:

“You are a globalist, you know it Ted, you are a globalist. You know that, bud, that is why you are a coward and a liar.

“You know that and I know that, that’s why you are afraid to stand up. When people were freezing and dying you were in Mexico, do you remember that?

“Remember when you had the all-inclusive buffet while people were freezing. Do you remember that Ted? When everyone was freezing and people were dying.”

The video has been viewed online almost 500,000 times since it was posted on Sunday.

Congress GOP Right Wing Morons WTF?!

One Of Marjorie Greene’s Constituents Believes Hillary Clinton ‘Cut A Girl’s Face Off And She Wore It’

If you’ve ever listened to Georgia Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene speak or read one of her tweets, you’ve probably wondered: How did someone this completely unfit and unprepared for office ever get elected in the first place?

The answer, of course, is that Greene’s constituents in her North Georgia district elected her, and talking to some of them makes it painfully clear that they support her because they’re just as deranged as the person they voted for.

Stephanie McCrummen of the Washington Post recently paid a visit to the 14th congressional district of Georgia, and what she found is like something out of a novel written by Carson McCullers or Flannery O’Connor, filled with oddball characters and a level of Southern gothic that borders on absolute insanity.

Angela Rubino goes by the moniker “Burnitdown” in her online postings, and McCrummen spent some time with her while in the 14th, reporting:

Six years into the grass-roots movement unleashed by Donald Trump in his first presidential campaign, Angela Rubino is a case study in what that movement is becoming. Suspicious of almost everything, trusting of almost nothing, believing in almost no one other than those who share her unease, she has in many ways become a citizen of a parallel America — not just red America, but another America entirely, one she believes to be awash in domestic enemies, stolen elections, immigrant invaders, sexual predators, the machinations of a global elite and other fresh nightmares revealed by the minute on her social media scrolls.

Rubino, to put it simply, all but worships Greene:

In Greene, she did not see what much of America saw — a person willing to do almost anything to keep emotions running high, whether that meant perpetuating lies about election fraud, harassing a victim of a school shooting, speaking at a white nationalist conference or casting fellow citizens who disagree with her as ‘domestic terrorists.’ Instead, Rubino saw a person like herself: a political outsider who shared the same sense of urgency about the same dystopian America, one that required a popular uprising to save it.

Oh, and the people Rubino associates with are (as you’d expect) just as demented as her, as McCrummen discovered when she joined a vote canvas:

There was a military contractor who said he’d been reading a Russian book about CIA-sponsored regime change operations, which he believed included the last U.S. presidential election. There were women who believed public schools were indoctrinating children with left-wing ideology. Retirees who believed the coronavirus was a bioweapon. A mechanic who wore ear buds all day streaming ‘War Room,’ a podcast in which former Trump strategist Stephen K. Bannon was urging people to take over local Republican parties.

But perhaps the most disturbing thing Rubino said during the time McCrummen was with her is this tidbit she shared with a friend of hers, Melissa Smith:

“Did you ever see that clip about Hillary Clinton where she cut a girl’s face off and she wore it?” said Rubino, referring to one of the fake videos of the type always coming across her social media scroll. “I could hardly watch.”

How did Greene respond to Rubino when they met at a primary night event for the congresswoman? The encounter was a bit like two visitors from space as they bonded in mutual admiration:

Greene smiled and told people that instead of giving an off-the-cuff speech, she had written one out for once. And so in the more careful and polished manner of a leader on the rise, she began describing the America that Rubino believed in more and more, one at war with “globalists” and the “democratic communist agenda” and elites who “look down on us” and “hate us.”

She listened as Greene spoke of an “American revival.” She nodded along as Greene said, “It is we who will set the public agenda for the next decade.”

How did Marjorie Taylor Greene get elected? By pandering to people even more deranged and profoundly ignorant than she is.
