Lauren Boebert Gets Reprimanded By House Democrat For Her ‘Fabricated’ Rant About The IRS

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) got taken to the proverbial woodshed Friday during debate on legislation that would deal with climate change and taxation after Boebert began spinning wild conspiracy theories and lies about the bill in question.

During her speech on the House floor regarding the Inflation Reduction Act, Boebert incorrectly asserted that Democrats were intent on “making the IRS, with armed agents, larger than the Pentagon.”

She added:

“This bill hires 87,000 new IRS agents and they are armed and the job description tells them that they need to be required to carry a firearm and expect to use deadly force if necessary!”

But as the Washington Post reports, Boebert and many of her GOP colleagues are lying about the bill:

Natasha Sarin, Treasury counselor for tax policy and implementation, told The Fact Checker that over half of the IRS staff — 50,000 — is eligible for retirement in the next five years. Much of the funding for new employees will be focused on mitigating that attrition and adding customer service and information technology specialists in addition to enforcement agents. The agency has also lost about 40 percent of the agency staff who specialize in complex tax audits, bringing it to the level of the agency in World War II, she said.

In any case, the 87,000 figure is wildly exaggerated. These people are not all new tax agents.

Democratic Congressman John Yarmuth of Kentucky also laid an instant fact-check and reprimand on Boebert:

“I will say in response to the gentlewoman from Colorado, this is typical of what the Republicans are doing. First of all, they’re making up numbers. There’s nowhere anywhere that says 87,000 new IRS agents will be hired in this bill. That’s a totally fabricated number. And the idea that they’re armed — I know Mrs. Boebert would like everyone to be armed as they are in her restaurant, but that’s not what IRS agents do. I would implore my Republican colleagues to… cut out the scare tactics.”

GOP Whining U.S. Senate WTF?!

Grassley Pelted With Internet Karma For Whining About Having To Stay In DC Instead Of Attend Family Reunion

Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is all up in his feelings today because he’s having to stay in Washington, D.C. and do his job instead of attend a family reunion.

You can start playing your world’s smallest violin for Chuckles.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has scheduled a vote on the Inflation Reduction Act today, meaning that Grassley can’t return to Iowa for his reunion, as he told the entire world via Twitter:

“Each Dec Schumer puts out schedule for Senate I set Grassley family reunion based on schedule. For 2nd yr in row I won’t be at reunion I’m in DC to fight Dems irresponsible tax&spend bill. Need a Republican majority to hv schedule we can count on & A RESPONSIBLE FISCAL AGENDA.”

Boo freaking hoo! Go to your damn family reunion, Chuck. There’s no need to do the job you were elected to do. A reunion is much more important than doing the business of government, which is supposed to be what you were elected for.

Grassley was hit with a torrent of internet karma for his bellyaching.

Rick Scott’s CPAC Speech Was Such A Disaster That The Audience REFUSED To Applaud

Florida Republican Sen. Rick Scott is considered by some to be a potential candidate for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, but based on the reception he received Friday during a speech he gave at the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC), it doesn’t look like may Republicans are excited by the prospect of a Scott candidacy.

Scott began his speech by tossing out plenty of culture war red meat to the crowd, but they weren’t the least bit hungry when he told them:

“If you do speak up, boom, you’re going to be canceled. Your views, if you don’t conform with Big Tech, Fauci, or Neil Young, can be taken off Spotify, YouTube, Facebook, and Twitter.”

Even though Scott paused for applause, there was none, which forced him to soldier on:

“The militant left in America are a modern day version of book burners.

“That’s right. Canceling, silencing, and banning from the Internet is book burning. These are the most narrow-minded, intolerant people our country has ever seen.”

The most blatant silencing, however, was from the audience, where perhaps two people offered up a few tepid claps of accord.

No doubt thinking he would bring the house down with his denunciation of “socialism,” Scott remarked:

“Socialism is not a new idea. It’s one of the dumbest, oldest, most discrete ideas of the 20th century that resulted in the deaths of 100 million people.

“If these Democrats who have no idea how the real world works, are acting like they just invented socialism. The modern wacky left Democrat has never read George Orwell. They don’t know they’re making his predictions come true.”

Crickets. Nothing.

Scott was forced to use what he probably considered his rhetorical nuclear weapon:

“Let’s be clear. What the militant left is now proposing is not simply wrong. It is evil.”

You could almost sense that people were yawning and checking their watches.

Rick Scott is not a serious person or a serious candidate for the White House two years from now. Watching paint dry is more exciting than listening to this wannabe funeral director whine.

Here’s the video. (WARNING: May cause drowsiness):

Dick Cheney Absolutely Destroys ‘Coward’ Trump In Powerful New Political Ad For His Daughter

If you’re anything like me, you probably have very little admiration or respect for former vice president Dick Cheney, who is sometimes referred to as “Dr. Evil” for his role in the disastrous Iraq war and U.S. occupation of the country which led to a horrible insurgency, along with the deaths of thousands of American and allied troops.

But an ad the former VP for George W. Bush has filmed for his daughter, Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) — who is facing an uncertain bid for reelection since she agreed to be a member of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol — is powerful and takes aim directly at failed, one-term former president Donald Trump.

The ad begins with Cheney looking into the camera and remarking:

“In our nation’s 246-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.

“He tried to steal the last election using lies and violence to keep himself in power after the voters had rejected him.”

And then the former vice president pulls out the heavy artillery as he continues his attack on the disgraced, twice-impeached ex-president:

“He is a coward. A real man wouldn’t lie to his supporters. He lost his election and he lost big. I know it, he knows it and deep down I think most Republicans know it.

“Lynne and I are so proud of Liz for standing up for the truth, doing what is right, honoring her oath to the Constitution when so many in our own party are too scared to do so.”

The ad concludes with a strong endorsement of his daughter, whom polls show is running far behind her Republican challenger, Harriet Hageman:

“Liz is fearless. She never backs down from a fight.

“There is nothing more important she will ever do than lead the effort to make sure Donald Trump is never near the Oval Office again. And she will succeed. I am Dick Cheney. I proudly voted for my daughter. And I hope you will too.”

Abortion GOP WTF?!

West Virginia GOPer Wants To Eliminate Child Support Payments Because He Claims They Encourage Abortion

Unless you live in West Virginia, you’ve probably never heard of Chris Pritt. He’s a Republican member of the state House of Delegates and believes that all child support payments should be eliminated because they lead to abortion.

Speaking before the state legislature, Pritt told his fellow lawmakers:

“If she carries through with the pregnancy, he’s going to have, possibly, some sort of child support obligation. And, so, what he wants to do is, he wants to — in a sense — encourage her to go and find a way for her to get an abortion. Because he knows that a certain individual — if he has any kind if familiarity with her, he knows that she might be of such a state of mind, she must be in such a vulnerable position that it’s not worth everything that he’s going to put me through to carry this pregnancy forward. It’s going to be easier, it’s going to be better, for me to just go and terminate this ‘life.’ So she goes over to Virginia or to some other state where she goes and gets the abortion. So, I think that’s a really clear possibility if we enact the Second Amendment here, I don’t want to be doing anything that is encouraging thugs to go and get an abortion.”

https://twitter.com/QasimRashid/status/1553872651801739265?s=20&t=FLQk0yjLCLIhLP3yTnx6Pw

It’s unclear what exactly the Second Amendment has to do with abortion or child support, but apparently Pritt is so stupid that he thought he’d toss in the reference figuring no one would notice.

Pritt later tried to walk back his comments on Twitter.

Sure thing, Chris. We all heard what you said, and it’s on video, so you can tweet ten million times and it won’t change what you said and what you meant.

Here’s a better idea: Let’s make the Republican Party and its members extinct by voting them all out of office.
