At a Trump campaign event in Iowa on Sunday, Rep. Derrick Van Orden (R-WI) sang the praises of failed one-term, twice-impeached, and multiply-indicted former president Donald Trump, telling supporters that the president is one of the most generous people he’s ever known.
“They don’t understand that Trump will stand for you in a time of need. He will literally give you the shirt off his back, and he loves his country and his family more than you’ll ever know.”
Really? Would that be the same Donald Trump who set up a charity and then used $60,000 worth of donations to purchase a oil painting of himself? That guy?
Trump wouldn’t give you the coat hanger that held his shirt, let alone the shirt itself. He’s never been known as generous.
Van Orden’s patently absurd comment set off a wave of mockery and ridicule on social media.
