Is Donald Trump the prohibitive front-runner for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination? It seems that depends on who you talk to, but many conservatives don’t think the failed ex-president stands a chance based on his performance in the 2020 general election.
Fox News political analyst Brit Hume, for one, says Trump has a major problem as he gears up for another run at the White House, and it has everything to do with the poor showing Donald made the last time he was on the ballot.
Speaking with Fox anchor Bret Baier Monday on “Special Report,” Hume was asked about the attacks Trump is making on his main rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, to which Hume replied:
Hume noted that is was “inevitable” Trump would attack DeSantis “because, obviously, Mr. Trump recognizes that this governor, who just won reelection by nearly 20 points, is at the moment, in the eyes of most people, a winner.”
“Whereas he, Mr. Trump ― although there’s skeptics about how it happened – was a loser.”
As HuffPost notes, “loser” is one of Trump’s favorite insults.
And the numbers show that Trump is indeed the bigger “loser” among the two men, with DeSantis besting his Democratic opponent, Charlie Crist, by almost 20 points as he secured a second term as head of the Sunshine State.
Trump, on the other hand, didn’t fare so well against President Joe Biden, losing the popular vote by almost 5 points and getting swamped in the Electoral College, 306 to 232.
Donald Trump is a loser. He’s always been a loser. In business, in his personal life, and as a human being, Trump is one of the biggest losers to ever walk the face of the planet. That won’t change in 2024, whether he manages to secure the GOP nomination or not.
