Efforts Underway To Remove Donald Trump’s ‘Star’ From The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

Failed one-term, twice-impeached, and multiply-indicted former president Donald Trump could soon have his name attached to yet another dubious distinction: Being the first member of the Hollywood Walk of Fame to have his star removed.

Though it’s a longshot to get Trump’s star taken from the famous Hollywood landmark, Hollywood Hills resident Andrew Rudick says he won’t be deterred and won’t rest until he’s successful, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Rudick has been busily trying to get Trump’s star removed for three years now, and he recently appeared before the Los Angeles City Council to present his case.

“The reasonably conveyed message to the millions who have walked past that plaque since 2021 is the city’s endorsement of a man who attempted a coup against the United States,” Rudick told the council.

One of the main problems with getting a star removed from the Walk of Fame is that no one seems to know who has the jurisdiction to do so, according to The Times.

“The Chamber is authorized by the City to administer Walk of Fame ceremonies, select and honor the recipient, order the fabrication of the star and place the star in the sidewalk, but the Chamber does not have the authority from any jurisdiction to permanently remove a star,” said Ana Martinez, vice president of media and talent relations for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce. “We don’t understand why people think we do have that authority.”

That hasn’t deterred others who support what Rudick is trying to do, including Hugo Soto-Martínez, who represents the district where the Walk of Fame is located.

“Donald Trump is a racist, fascist, and a threat to our democracy. Since there’s no known precedent for removing a star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame, we’re looking into where the authority lies, what the legal issues may be, and what a process for it might look like.”

Trump was added on the Walk of Fame in 2007, at the height of his television popularity as a result of the NBC show “The Apprentice.”

But in the years since the success of the show, the disgraced ex- president has done nothing to help his reputation among the American public or the entertainment industry, especially in a state as deep blue as California.

There have been numerous attacks on Trump’s star, including acts of vandalism and outright defacing of the star.

Rudick says he won’t stop until he gets what he wants, no matter how much time and effort it takes.

“I’ve been in this because it’s the right thing to do.”
