House Republicans Planning ‘Payback’ On Cheney And Kinzinger If GOP Wins Midterms

If Republicans win control of the House of Representatives in the upcoming midterm elections, they have plans to punish two GOP members of the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the Capitol, Reps. Liz Cheney (WY) and Adam Kinzinger (IL).

According to a report from CNN, Republicans would likely use the House Judiciary Committee to target those they feel didn’t agree to lie and obfuscate for failed, one-term former president Donald Trump:

The GOP’s growing desire to craft a counternarrative on January 6 — and shift the blame away from Trump — comes as the former President is gearing up to soon announce another White House bid. Pursuing that effort could also be politically advantageous for McCarthy, whose expected bid for speaker would be made easier with support from Trump. The former President has sometimes criticized the California Republican over how he has handled the GOP’s defense of Trump during the select committee’s investigation.

Republicans might even try to create their own Jan. 6 committee in a pathetic attempt to spread the “big lie” Trump has suggested proves that the 2020 election was stolen from him, even though he has yet to provide a shred of evidence other than conspiracy theories and right-wing talking points while also punishing Cheney and Kinzinger for daring to serve on the current bipartisan panel:

Republicans have already asked the January 6 panel to preserve a broad range of documents in its possession — a signal they’re preparing to force those records to be turned over should they wield powerful committee gavels next year. And privately, Republican sources say there have been discussions about subpoenaing members of the select committee, particularly Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, who is fighting an uphill battle for reelection, and retiring Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois, if both Republicans are private citizens next year.

In other words, rather than doing anything worthwhile if they happen to win control of the House, the GOP will engage in behavior better suited for children. It’s proof-positive that every last Republican needs to be voted out of office in order to save our democracy.

Marjorie Taylor Greene Says AOC Should Take Being Sexually Harassed As ‘Quite The Compliment’

Earlier this week, a right-wing troll who calls himself a “comedian” sexually harassed Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) on the steps of the U.S. Capitol.

As Business Insider reported:

“I posted about a deeply disgusting incident that happened today on the Capitol steps, but took it down bc it’s clearly someone seeking extremist fame,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on Twitter.

“It’s just a bummer to work in an institution that openly allowed this, but talking about it only invites more. Just really sad,” she added.

She then included footage of the incident in a follow-up tweet. “I was actually walking over to deck him because if no one will protect us then I’ll do it myself but I needed to catch a vote more than a case today,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

The so-called comedian is named Alex Stein, and in the video below, you can see him referring to Ocasio-Cortez as his “favorite big booty Latina” and accusing the congresswoman of “killing babies.”

But according to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) — a.k.a. the Peach State Insurrectionist Scum — Ocasio-Cortez should consider such harassment a compliment.

HuffPost notes that Greene seemed to delight in the video of AOC being treated in such a manner:

Greene called his actions “quite the compliment.” She even had Stein on her podcast.

“I think women should be confident,” Greene said. “And if a man gives you a compliment, a woman can say ‘thank you.’”

If Ocasio-Cortez had pulled a handgun out of her purse and shot Stein in both legs to teach him a lesson, would Greene be saluting her then? After all, aren’t right-wingers always teaching that guns are the solution to every problem and the Second Amendment is the only one that matters?

These Are The 10 Republicans Implicated In Trump’s Crimes At Today’s January 6 Hearing

10 Republican members of Congress were called out by name for their role in former president Donald Trump’s attempt to overturn the 2020 election and stage a coup by the House Select Committee investigating the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol.

During a presentation being made by committee member Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL), the congresswoman said:

“Another part of the president’s strategy involves certain members of Congress who amplified his unsupported assertions that the election had been stolen. In the weeks after the election, the White House coordinated closely with President Trump’s allies in Congress to disseminate his false claims and to encourage members of the public to fight the outcome on Jan 6. We know that the president met with various members to discuss Jan. 6 well before the joint session.

“The president’s private schedule for Dec. 21, 2020 shows a private meeting with Republican members of Congress. We know Vice President Pence, chief of staff Mark Meadows and Rudy Giuliani also attended the meeting.”

And then Murphy named names, and the 10 people she mentioned had better hope they have some damn good attorneys on retainer:

“At this point, you may recall testimony given in our earlier hearing by Richard Donoghue who said that the president asked the Department of Justice to say ‘that the election was corrupt and leave the rest to me and the Republican congressmen.’ According to White House visitor logs obtained by the committee, members of Congress present at the White House on Dec. 21 included Congressmen Brian Babin (R-TX), Andy Biggs (R-AZ), Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Louie Gohmert (R-TX), Paul Gosar (R-AZ), Andy Harris (R-MD), Jody Hice (R-GA), Jim Jordan (R-OH), and Scott Perry (R-PA).

“And Congresswoman-elect Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was also there.”

These are the known insurrectionists and traitors who remain in Congress to this day. They need to be brought before the House Ethics Committee, placed in front of a federal grand jury, indicted, and booted from office. If they aren’t, what took place on Jan. 6 is likely to happen again.

Lauren Boebert’s Shooters Grill Has Gone Belly Up

Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) loves to brag about how she managed to start a small business even though she didn’t graduate from high school. To hear her tell it, she pulled herself up by the bootstraps and got her piece of the American dream.

But that dream — which Boebert named Shooters Grill — is now a failure and a little more than a bad memory, according to Colorado Pols:

As readers know, Shooter’s Grill lost hundreds of thousands of dollars during its few years of operation according to tax filings, and the eatery never lived down the 2017 incident in which Boebert’s food truck sickened dozens of spectators at a local rodeo. Quality food and service was never the draw of Shooter’s Grill, of course, bringing in customers (at least once for the novelty) with their armed and generally young female wait staff.

Boebert reportedly waited until after the June 28th primary to make the decision about closing Shooter’s Grill after the building’s landlord signaled his intention to cancel Boebert’s lease at the end of August. With Boebert’s Republican primary opponent dispatched, Boebert’s cash flow from her newfound fame looks secure enough to dispense with the dirty work of running a small-town greasy spoon–management of which Boebert had reportedly already farmed out to political supporters.

Join the good citizens of Rifle in wishing Shooter’s Grill a fond covfefe.

You probably recall one of the things that made Shooters so unique (not to mention absurd) is that all of the employees were encouraged to openly carry weapons in keeping with the right-wing belief that guns were given to us by God and therefore deserve to be worshiped like some sort of fire-breathing idol.

The closing of Shooters also deprives Boebert of her talking point about being a successful businesswoman. Instead, she’s a miserable failure, just like her tangerine lord and savior, Donald Trump.

Now that karma is catching up with Lauren in such a big way, we can also hope that voters in her district will kick her to the curb come November.

Grand Jury Witness In Georgia Election Probe Accuses Giuliani Of Criminal Acts: Report

A witness who has testified before a sitting grand jury in the state of Georgia says there is no doubt in her mind that former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani committed crimes by trying to help failed ex-president Donald Trump overturn the results of the 2020 election.

Speaking with MSNBC’s Katie Phang, Georgia State Sen. Jen Jordan (D) said she was in the hearing when Giuliani tried to convince state legislators that the election had been stolen from Trump. That led Phang to inquire:

“As we mentioned, you testified before the special grand jury about the December 3rd, 2020 Georgia Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing. where Rudy Giuliani and others were spreading conspiracy theories about voter fraud in Georgia. Did Giuliani commit a crime before your very eyes?”

Jordan responded affirmatively:

“In my opinion he did. But obviously that’s not necessarily from me. That’s what’s significant about this special grand jury proceeding, they are gathering all of the evidence, they are pulling it all together, right? They are trying to kind of draw the line and see who was involved, what was said, what was done. What were the intentional acts that moved this conspiracy forward.”

She added:

“From my perspective, what we watched in that state Senate hearing was really the scheme that [Trump attorney] John Eastman had put together. I call him the architect of anarchy. The scheme he put together was really the implementation of that scheme on the ground.”

The January 6 House Select Committee, much like the Georgia grand jury, is trying to determine exactly what the former president knew and when he knew it, along with determining who participated in his blatantly illegal scheme to subvert the will of the American people who overwhelmingly voted to elect Joe Biden 46th President of the United States. The panel will hold two public hearings this week on Tuesday, July 12 and Thursday, July 14.
