The DC Attorney General Is Investigating Trump’s Kids For ‘Massive Fraud’: Report

Indictments were handed down a few months ago against the Trump Organization by the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr., but there’s plenty of other legal news on the horizon, and it involves the three eldest children of the failed, one-term former president, Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric.

The Daily Beast reports that prosecutors with the office of District of Columbia Attorney General Karl A. Racine are seeking testimony from Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of Trump Org.:

“The District of Columbia’s attorney general will have to wait just a little longer to find out if three more people in the Trump family circle can be forced to testify, as investigators continue to look into whether Donald Trump’s 2017 inauguration committee misspent more than $1 million and enriched his own company.

“A local judge Sunday, on the eve of a potentially critical court hearing in that case, ruled that he won’t even let the D.C. attorney general’s office argue in court on Monday why it should subject these key witnesses to tough questions.”

Recent court filings show Racine suspects that the Trump children were involved in massive fraud related to the 2017 inauguration, steering money to Trump-branded properties in violation of the law.

One person who has intimate knowledge of the allegedly illegal actions by the Trump kids is Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, who says the former president’s children have been involved in what’s known as “self-dealing”:

“The world’s about to learn how Trump’s inner circle—with Trump’s full knowledge—took advantage of the presidential inauguration.

“Everything they did was all about self-dealing. They had a nonprofit pay them for their own hotel at an inflated cost.”

It should be noted, however, that Racine isn’t seeking criminal penalties against Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric. At least not yet.

The case underway against the three Trump children is civil in nature, and seeks to recover any improperly spent money which would then be handed over to a non-profit to be used for the benefit of the public.

So while Donald Trump waits to see if he and his company will be charged in Manhattan (which seems a virtual certainty), the D.C. case could also open up members of the Trump family to severe financial penalties and leave them vulnerable to prosecution for attempting to enrich Trump Org. with money intended solely for the inauguration.

Things are about to get much worse for the Trumps. They’re certainly deserving of whatever karma has in store for them.

Legal Experts: Upcoming ‘Crime-A-Thon’ Charges Will Bankrupt Trump And ‘Topple’ His Company

Earlier today, we learned that the Trump Organization “will be criminally charged” by this time next week, according to reports from the New York Times and NBC News.

In their report, NBC News noted:

“The Trump Organization is expected to be hit with criminal charges as soon as next week by Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance’s office in a case that Trump attorneys say is tied to tax-related conduct, multiple people familiar with the matter tell NBC News.

“’It looks like they are going to come down with charges against the company, and that is completely outrageous,” Ron Fischetti, an attorney for the Trumps, said after the development was first reported by The New York Times.

“‘I’ve been practicing for over 50 years, and I’ve never seen a case like this.'”

If indeed the former president’s corporation — which is privately owned and controlled by him and his three eldest children, Don Jr., Eric, and Ivanka — winds up being charged with crimes such as bank and insurance, and tax fraud, it could prove disastrous for the Trumps and the company itself, which is reportedly on the edge of financial collapse.

Shortly after the news broke about the pending indictments, several experts weighed in on the matter.

Trump biographer Tim O’Brien said news that the Trump Organization will be charged is significant:

David Corn, the DC bureau chief of Mother Jones, noted the irony of Trump being destroyed for failing to pay his taxes is indeed rich considering the blood on his hands:

And NBC legal analyst Ari Melber predicted that criminal charges will bankrupt Trump and destroy his company:

No matter how you slice it, it certainly looks like karma is coming for Donald Trump, his family, and his allegedly corrupt corporation. It’s about damn time.

Trump’s Legal Problems Could Get Much Worse After Tuesday: Report

Granted, it seems like we’ve been waiting for an eternity to see Donald Trump indicted and placed on trial for various criminal charges including bank and insurance fraud as well as money laundering and conspiracy. The question, however, keeps being asked: When do we reach the denouement that sees justice catch up with him?

While none of us are good at predicting the future, two longtime political operatives, Arick Wierson and Bradley Honan, believe Tuesday’s election in New York — most notably the race for District Attorney of Manhattan — is the matchup to watch because it could be very bad news for the failed, one-term former president.

In an op-ed they penned for CNN, Wierson and Honan write:

“Whoever wins the election will be handed a caseload that will include, in all likelihood, the prosecution of the Trump Organization in what could be the most consequential legal case in our nation’s modern history. For more than two years, the office of Cy Vance Jr., the current Manhattan DA, has been conducting a sprawling investigation into the inner workings of the Trump Organization’s finances stemming in part from hush money payments made to women who said they had extramarital affairs with Trump (which he has denied). The Manhattan DA’s office has also suggested it is looking into allegations that the Trump Organization inflated property values in statements to lenders and insurers while undervaluing assets for tax purposes.”

Vance is retiring at the end of the year, so whoever replaces him will have a lot on their plate when it comes to the Trump family and Trump Organization. Right now, that appears to come down to two candidates:

“Many political insiders believe it’s really a two-horse race between Democratic candidates Tali Farhadian Weinstein, a former federal prosecutor and general counsel for the Brooklyn district attorney, and Alvin Bragg, a prosecutor in the state attorney general’s office.”

Weinstein is the wife of a hedge fund manager, Boaz Weinstein, and also interviewed with the Trump administration to fill a federal judgeship which was never offered to her. However, her coziness with the Wall Street crowd could hurt her chances of winning the D.A.’s race.

Alvin Bragg’s base of support is in Harlem and he has also been endorsed by the New York Times. The fact he has experience as a prosecutor is certainly an advantage for him as he seeks to be the top law enforcement official in the borough of Manhattan.

No matter who prevails when the votes are counted, he or she may wind up making a major name for themselves by prosecuting the Donald and his company, Wierson and Honan conclude:

“If Vance’s office doesn’t bring charges before he leaves office, then it will be left to the incoming DA to make that call, and come January 2022, the new Manhattan DA will be drinking from the fire hose with no time to ease into the job — which suggests that someone with high-level prosecutorial experience might be best positioned to succeed this time around.

“With numerous candidates on the ballot, Manhattan voters must choose wisely come Tuesday; whoever ends up winning the Manhattan DA race must not only have the wisdom and moral compass that the role has always required, but ample amounts of strength, fortitude, political smarts and cojones to take on the former president.”

Whoever wins will forever endear themselves to the people of New York and the majority of the nation if they continue to move forward aggressively and LOCK TRUMP UP!

Manhattan DA Has An ‘Insider’ At The Trump Organization: Report

For months now, we’ve seen reports that prosecutors in the office of Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. have been trying to get Allen Weisselberg, the chief financial officer of the Trump Organization, to flip on Donald Trump and tell what he knows to investigators.

But what if Vance already has an insider that can provide just as much evidence as Weisselberg and has already appeared before a grand jury that may be handing down more indictments in the coming months?

That’s exactly what Andrew Weissman, the top prosecutor in the Mueller investigation, believes has happened.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “The Beat” recently, Weissmann told host Ari Melber:

“I’d like to throw out one more name, which is Jeff McConney, because I don’t think that’s gotten enough attention because last week the reports were that he went into the state grand jury and he is the controller of the Trump Organization So, again, all speculation, but clearly you’re looking for an insider. That’s why there is so much focus on Allen Weisselberg trying to get somebody who is on the inside who would know where every penny went. Well, that’s the controller as well as the CFO. So if Jeff McConney is cooperating, that is really bad news potentially for Weisselberg and for the Trump Organization and other individuals up to and including the former president.”

McConney has access to the same financial information as Weisselberg, Weissmann noted, meaning that there’s a very good chance he’s already spilled his guts to Vance’s prosecutors to keep from being charged with various crimes.

Weissmann then added:

“In other words, Manhattan may have found their insider, because it would be unusual to put somebody like McConney into the state grand jury, where he would be given immunity as soon as he testifies automatically, if they didn’t think that he had something useful to provide.”

It certainly makes perfect sense that prosecutors might have gone around Weisselberg and subpoenaed McConney first, if only to see if what he says matches up with Weisselberg’s testimony when he appears before the Manhattan grand jury.

No wonder Trump is reportedly sweating over what’s happening with Vance’s investigation. It appears the DA is gathering all the evidence and leaving no stone unturned. That alone tells you the future doesn’t look bright for the Donald.

Michael Cohen: I’ve Given Manhattan Prosecutors Everything They Need To Convict Trump

Wherever he looks, Donald Trump can see that various prosecutors are moving ever closer to indicting him.

Now that Trump is a former president, he no longer has the legal protections afforded a sitting president which prohibit the American head of state from being criminally indicted, tried, found guilty, and incarcerated.

His former attorney, Michael Cohen, has all sorts of evidence that he’s handed over to prosecutors in New York, and it’s more than enough to send the Donald away for a very long time, according to what he told CBS News recently:

“Cohen said he had been questioned by the state attorney general’s team and the district attorney’s office and claimed investigators are ‘well-prepared’ with their evidence to ‘move relatively quickly’ in their probes.
“‘I do believe that there is a mounting amount of evidence that they will be prosecuting upon,’ Cohen said. ‘Some of it of course is civil, and other parts of it are criminal.'”

Cohen, who was convicted on charges of fraud, campaign finance violations, and lying to Congress, was sentenced to three years in prison and released earlier this year when the COVID-19 pandemic began sweeping through U.S. prisons.

Does Cohen expect Trump might pardon him in an effort to keep him from cooperating further with investigators? Cohen said he’s “not interested” in any presidential pardon, and made clear that prosecutors are indeed focusing in on Trump’s finances:

“It has to do with his finances, it has to do with his tax returns, it has to do with his properties, it has to do with the personal financial statements that he had made and provided in order to obtain loans.”

Trump’s financial dealings have always been his Achilles’ heel, and considering all of the dirt Cohen likely has on the Donald, things are about to get very bad for the former president.

Here’s the Cohen interview, courtesy of CBS News:
