Fani Willis Claps Back Hard At Jim Jordan: ‘You Lack A Basic Understanding Of The Law’

Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis has had quite enough of the petty threats and other distractions from House Judiciary Committee chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH), and she’s responding to his childish actions by reminding him that his knowledge of the law is tenuous at best.

Jordan has repeatedly accused Willis of trying to “interfere” in the 2024 election by charging former president Donald Trump as part of a racketeering conspiracy to overturn the results of balloting in the Peach State as part of the 2020 election, which Trump lost in an electoral landslide.

Focusing on a letter Jordan sent in August, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, Willis accused the congressman of using “inaccurate information and misleading statements” for his own political gain.

“Its obvious purpose is to obstruct a Georgia criminal proceeding and to advance outrageous misrepresentations,” Willis said in response to Jordan’s letter. “As I make clear below, there is no justification in the Constitution for Congress to interfere with a state criminal matter, as you attempt to do.”

Willis also noted that Jordan was legally ignorant.

“Your letter makes clear that you lack a basic understanding of the law, its practice and the ethical obligations of attorneys generally and prosecutors specifically.”

It should be noted that Jordan never sat for the bar exam in his home state and has never actually practiced law, as MSNBC host Lawrence O’Donnell noted in a brutal takedown of the Ohio Republican earlier this year.

“An Ohioan who is a graduate of Capital University Law School, but has never passed the bar exam – so is not a lawyer – Congressman Jim Jordan got a reply to his letter from Harvard Law School graduate Alvin Bragg, the district attorney of Manhattan.”

“Alvin Bragg’s reply letter to Jim Jordan is the single most humiliating letter ever received by a chairman of the House Judiciary Committee – every one of whom has known much more about the law than Jim Jordan.”

Jim Jordan is a sycophantic jackass who wants to advance his political career when he isn’t busy serving as Donald Trump’s full-time fluffer. He’s an embarrassment to his party, the Congress, and the United States.

Jamie Raskin Uses Jim Jordan’s Own Words To Prove His ‘Weaponization Committee’ Is A Sham

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) got his own words played back to him during a hearing of the House select committee on the “weaponization” of the federal government, and the quote makes it perfectly clear that the real reason for the committee is to benefit Donald Trump and help him get reelected in 2024.

Those words (and a video of them) were brought to light be Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD), who told Jordan:

“Relaxing with a friendly interviewer, Chairman Jordan gave the game away entirely, ‘All of those things need to be investigated, just so you have the truth,’ he said. ‘Plus, that will hope frame up the 2024 race, when hope, and I think President Trump is going to run, and we need to make sure that he wins.'”

The Maryland Democrat added:

“We need to make sure that he wins. This call to arms for the 2024 election was met with wild applause from the CPAC audience. I urge every member of the subcommittee to go and watch the interview.”

Earlier in the day, Raskin also exposed the Republicans for their lawlessness.

“They’ve proven that they will weaponize the government not just against other parties, but against anyone who refuses to bend to the will and win of one Donald Trump, whether that’s a lifelong Republican state election official, like Georgia secretary of state Brad Raffensperger, foreign head of states like president Volodymyr Zelenskyy, or a political movement, like Black Lives Matter, a once-close personal friend and ally of Trump’s, like his personal lawyer Michael Cohen for many years, or even a sycophantic Trump appointee, a lifelong Republican like attorney general William Barr. If these people break from the habits of lying and lawlessness that define life as a camp follower in the cult of Donald Trump, if the weaponize campaign isn’t partisan, it’s entirely political.

“It’s got an overriding electoral focus. You know what it is. It’s all about restoring Donald Trump, the twice-impeached former president, to the office he lost by 7 million votes in 2020 and tried to steal back in a political coup and violent insurrection against our constitutional order on Jan. 6, 2021.”

Court Says Ohio State Sex Abuse Suits Will Proceed – That’s Bad News For Jim Jordan

Ohio Congressmnan Jim Jordan (R) may be even angrier and more on edge than usual in the days ahead as the result of a Supreme Court ruling handed down that leaves in place a prior decision allowing over 230 men to sue Ohio State University for sexual abuse committed by Richard Strauss, a deceased former doctor who was employed by the university.

According to the Associated Press:

Two cases involving the abuse were on a list of many cases the court said it would not hear. And, as is typical, the court did not comment in saying it would not hear the cases.

Ohio State University had urged the court to review a ruling by the Sixth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that revived lawsuits that had been dismissed. The men who sued are among hundreds of former student-athletes and other alumni who say they were abused by Strauss, who worked at the school from 1978 to 1998.

They say university officials failed to stop him despite complaints raised as early as the late 1970s. Many of them allege Strauss abused them during required physicals and other medical exams at campus athletic facilities, a student health center, his home and an off-campus clinic.

Jordan’s connection to the scandal involves his role as an assistant coach for the OSU men’s wrestling team during the time of the alleged sexual assaults.

Six former wrestlers say Jordan knew they were being abused by Dr. Strauss but did nothing to stop or even report what was taking place.

As CNN noted in 2020, the wrestlers allege that “Jordan heard or responded to sexual misconduct complaints about team doctor Richard Strauss. Eight others say Strauss’ inappropriate behavior was an open secret in the athletic department and that Jordan, among others, must have known about it.”

Jordan has repeatedly denied he knew anything about the abuse, but one of the former wrestlers, Tito Vasquez, says the congressman is lying:

“When these complaints come and he pretends now that he had no knowledge of it, that’s betrayal in the highest level.”

The Supreme Court decision could also have repercussions for Jordan, if only by placing the matter back in the public eye with the congressman seeking reelection 2024 and drawing strong criticism for his hearings on what he calls the “weaponization” of the FBI and Justice Department by the Biden administration.

Additionally, Jordan is facing the prospect of being further damaged by an upcoming HBO documentary being compiled by actor George Clooney’s Smokehouse Pictures, with Clooney remarking, “It’s a devastating story about people in power abusing and then covering up their criminal actions against students. The fact that it hasn’t been resolved as of yet is deeply disturbing.”

Be afraid, Gym. Be very afraid.

Eric Swalwell Drags Jim Jordan During House Judiciary Hearing And Social Media Is Loving It

The House Judiciary Committee, chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was in session today, and testifying before the committee was Secretary of Homeland Security, Alejandro Mayorkas, and while Jordan and others members of the GOP on the committee tried to suggest that the secretary needed to be impeached and replaced, the best lines of the day came from committee member Eric Swalwell (D-CA) and were aimed directly at Jordan.

CNN reports that the hearing was contentious from the get-go.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan lambasted President Joe Biden’s border policies, calling it a “Biden border crisis” and describing them as “open border policies” in his opening remarks Wednesday at a hearing where Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is testifying.

“I know that today Secretary Mayorkas is going to try to paint a rosy picture of this disastrous mismanagement of our border,” Jordan said. “But the numbers don’t lie.”

[…]

Mayorkas is facing House Republicans who have been making the case to potentially impeach him over his handling of the US-Mexico border in a House panel hearing Wednesday. He maintained in his opening remarks that the administration’s approach to the border is “working.”

When Swalwell’s time came to speak, he made it clear that it was more than a tad ironic Jordan is complaining about someone not doing their job and not taking their oath of office seriously because the Ohio Republican resolutely refused to testify before the House Select Committee on January 6.

“Frankly, sir, I think you’re too nice because if I had a chairman who failed to honor his own lawful subpoena about 500 days after it was submitted to him, I would say catch me when you’re serious. Come talk to me when you follow the about whether or not you think I follow the law. But that’s not who you are, you take your job seriously even in front of a lot of unserious people.”

Swalwell then noted that just six days ago Republicans on the committee had invited Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to sit before the panel and spread all sorts of absurd and dangerous conspiracy theories.

“In fact, the chair that you are sitting in, you may not know this, but the last person who sat in that was called by the chairman an anti-vaccine, anti-Semitic witness in RFK Jr., so you have brought immediate credibility to the chair that you are sitting in just by being here. They’re not serious people. They chide people for their pronouns. They obsess and display in the committee and in other committees a private citizen’s non-consensual nude images. We’re not talking about serious people. We’re not talking about people who are on the level.”

That set off a wave of appreciation and applause on social media.

Jim Jordan Accidentally Tells The Truth About The Charges Against Trump

With friends like Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), pretty soon failed one-term, twice-indicted and impeached former president Donald Trump won’t need any enemies.

Jordan felt the need to defend Trump from the 37 federal criminal counts filed against him by a grand jury empaneled by Justice Department Special Counsel Jack Smith, but the way he went about that defense resulted in what sounded like an admission that the ex-president is in very big trouble because he broke the law.

Here’s what Jordan posted on Twitter:

“Remember, if the FBI can do it to a presidential candidate, they can do it to you too.”

Well, yeah. The FBI can indeed do the same thing to anyone if they steal classified documents and keep them in an unsecured location at a golf club in Florida. Here’s hoping they prosecute anyone and everyone that engages in such dangerous behavior, especially after being told they need to return the documents and refusing to do so. Lock every last one of them up and throw away the key.

Jordan was quickly hit with a brutal clapback from others on Twitter who reminded him the law is supposed to apply to everyone.
