Rachel Powell is a mother of eight from Western Pennsylvania who showed up at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021 and was later dubbed the “Bullhorn Lady” for her use of a megaphone as she took part in the violent insurrection that left five people dead.
“Powell was found guilty on a variety of charges, including felony counts of interfering with officers performing their duties and obstruction of an official proceeding.”
In less than two weeks, Powell will head to federal prison to begin serving a 51-month prison sentence which will be followed by 36 months on probation.
Rather than accept her penalty and serve her time, Powell decided to go on Twitter/X and whine, posting this:
Well, boo freaking hoo! Sounds like Ms. Powell is in the “find out” phase of “fuck around and find out.” But she’s the one who showed up and broke the law, so now she has to face the consequence, which is something pro-Trumpers never seem to understand. In that regard, they’re just like their orange savior.
But while Powell thought her pity party would elicit sympathy, it resulted in her being subjected a lot of online karma and mockery. Take a look:
New video taken by a January 6 rioter shows a dramatic confrontation between people who stormed the Capitol on that fateful day and confronted two Republican members of Congress.
The footage, which was obtained by NBC News via an open records request, is some of the most harrowing yet seen by the American public.
According to NBC:
The 8-minute video, shot by Capitol rioter Damon Beckley and introduced as evidence ahead of his sentencing, was released to the media coalition late Friday in response to a request from NBC News. Federal prosecutors areĀ seekingĀ more than three years in federal prison for Beckley, and his sentencing has now been rescheduled for Feb. 9.Ā
In a tense moment, Beckley is told by Rep. Troy Nehls (R-TX), who served as a sheriff before being elected to the Congress, “Iāve been in law enforcement in Texas for 30 years, and Iāve never had people act this way. Iām ashamed!”
Another portion of the video shows Beckely noting, āI drove fourteen hours to get here and stood in the cold for three and a half hours to find out that Mike Pence is a f—— traitor, man. And I voted for that f—— dude. He couldāve done the right thing and certified those legislators, electors, and we wouldnāt be standing here with a nine-millimeter pointed at me right now!āĀ
A second rioter remarks, āWeāre real American citizens, and weāre sick of this. Weāre making it known that weāre sick of it.ā
Another rioter is heard telling someone, āThey can only kill so many of us.”
During a speech he made Friday to commemorate the third anniversary of the Capitol insurrection which left 10 people dead, President Joe Biden said:
It took former Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) just a few lines on social media to completely destroy failed former president Donald Trump’s latest nonsensical conspiracy theory regarding the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol, and her response is almost guaranteed to enrage the Donald.
Trump is now claiming that Cheney and the January 6 House Select Committee of destroying evidence that would prove he didn’t play any role in the Capitol insurrection.
On Monday, Trump posted a bizarre alternative reality blast on his failing Truth Social site.
“Why did American disaster Liz Cheney, who suffers from TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome), and was defeated for Congress by the largest margin for a sitting Congressman or Congresswoman in the history of our Country, ILLEGALLY DELETE & DESTROY most of the evidence, and related items, from the January 6th Committee of Political Thugs and Misfits. THIS ACT OF EXTREME SABOTAGE MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE FOR MY LAWYERS TO PROPERLY PREPARE FOR, AND PRESENT, A PROPER DEFENSE OF THEIR CLIENT, ME. All of the information on Crazy Nancy Pelosi turning down 10,000 soldiers that I offered to to guard the Capitol Building, and beyond, is gone. The ridiculous Deranged Jack Smith case on Immunity, which the most respected legal minds in the Country say I am fully entitled to, is now completely compromised and should be thrown out and terminated, JUST LIKE THE RADICAL LEFT LUNATICS DID TO THE EVIDENCE!”
As with nearly everything Trump says, his latest bullshit claim has already been thoroughly debunked by the Washington Post on two separate occasions, with the Post noting:
As we have documented before, President Donald Trump never requested 10,000 National Guard troops to secure the Capitol that day. He threw out a number, in casual conversation, that is now regarded by his supporters as a lifeline to excuse his inaction when a mob inspired by his rhetoric invaded the Capitol.
Cheney had the perfect response to Trump’s nonsense.
Other Twitter/X users then joined the ridicule.
Trump sounds terrified, and he should be. Special Counsel Jack Smith has the goods on him.
New recordings obtained by Special Counsel Jack Smith regarding efforts by the Trump administration to block certification of the 2020 election provide powerful new evidence that prove failed former president Donald Trump’s intent to commit criminal acts, according to legal experts.
The recordings, which were first made public by CNN this week, suggest that Trump and those allied with him flew fake elector ballots to Washington D.C. so they could replace the real ballots with ones that would be favorable to the disgraced ex-president.
Two days before the January 6 insurrection, the Trump campaignās plan to use fake electors to block President-elect Joe Biden from taking office faced a potentially crippling hiccup: The fake elector certificates from two critical battleground states were stuck in the mail.
So, Trump campaign operatives scrambled to fly copies of the phony certificates from Michigan and Wisconsin to the nationās capital, relying on a haphazard chain of couriers, as well as help from two Republicans in Congress, to try to get the documents to then-Vice President Mike Pence while he presided over the Electoral College certification.
The operatives even considered chartering a jet to ensure the files reached Washington, DC, in time for the January 6, 2021, proceeding, according to emails and recordings obtained by CNN.
The recordings are of Trump-aligned lawyer Kenneth Chesebro, who devised the fake elector scheme and is now cooperating with prosecutors.
Former federal prosecutor Elliot Williams had this to say about the recordings:
The tapes, Williams continued, “could be introduced as evidence showing the state mind of not just of the former president, or people around him who knew what they were doing and attempting to take all efforts to get these fake or alternate ā their argument is ā ballots to Washington, D.C.., it can speak to intent.”
CNN legal analyst Norm Eisen concurred with Williams.
He added, “This wasn’t just, as it started out, a preventive measure in case Trump won court cases,” Eisen said. “This was an active alleged conspiracy to have Mike Pence and Congress block the rightful winner of the election from taking office, and Jack Smith has said that that is a criminal conspiracy. And it’s hard to understand how lawyers and other professionals couldn’t see why that was wrong.”
With each day, new and damning evidence comes to light that will help the special counsel make the case against Trump, who is reportedly terrified that he will indeed be found guilty and spend the rest of his life in prison.
Though we’ve known for nearly three years that Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) was in phone contact with former president Donald Trump on January 6, 2021 as the U.S. Capitol was being attacked by Trump supporters, it remains unclear exactly what role Jordan may have played in organizing the protests that took place that fateful day.
Now, however, a former colleague of Jordan’s, Liz Cheney, is suggesting that she believes the Ohio Republican was one of the “masterminds” behind Jan. 6.
Appearing on “Deadline: White House” to discuss her new book, Cheney was asked about Jordan.
Cheney added that Jordan’s steadfast refusal to comply with a subpoena from the House Select Committee investigating the 2020 election and Jan. 6 is also highly suspicious.
“So, you have to imagine that he’s doing everything he can to help Donald Trump, to do Donald Trump’s bidding. And I think that he has so many questions of his own to answer that people just need to go back and look at the record. Look at how confused he’s been when people have pushed him on what did you say to Donald Trump. When did you talk to him on the 6th? What was your role in all of this? Did you make a request for pardons? But he’s very clearly at the heart of what was an attempt to seize power and overturn an election.”
Does that mean Jordan has “criminal exposure?” host Nicolle Wallace asked. Cheney replied, “He has a lot of questions to answer.”
In time, perhaps Special Counsel Jack Smith will take a long hard look at Jordan and others in Congress who may have played a role in Jan. 6 and the attempt to overturn the 2020 election. Until then, we can always hope that Smith succeeds in obtaining guilty verdicts against Donald Trump.
