Jamie Raskin Brutally Trolls The GOP At House Hearing: ‘Some Of Them Blindly Worship Convicted Felons’

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) lit into members of the GOP for their undying loyalty to convicted felon/presidential candidate Donald Trump during a House hearing on the origins of COVID-19.

The witness was former National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, and Raskin told him, “The claim was essentially that you tried to cover up the possibility of there having been a laboratory leak, which, of course, is perfectly possible. And if this committee were doing its job, we could actually be working to advance the investigation of that. But they would rather assert that you tried to cover up this possibility.”

Fauci told Raskin that he had spent his entire life working to find the cause of diseases such as COVID.

“Well, Dr. Fauci, I want to join my colleague from Florida in apologizing to you that some of our colleagues in the United States House of Representatives seem to want to drag your name through the mud,” Raskin said. “They’re treating you, Dr. Fauci, like a convicted felon.”

And then the congressman put his Republican colleagues on notice regarding their willingness to embrace a man who was convicted on 34 felony counts just last week.

“Actually, you probably wish they were treating you like a convicted felon. They treat convicted felons with love and admiration. Some of them blindly worship convicted felons.”

Republicans are the biggest hypocrites on the face of the planet. They scream about “law and order” and then give their undying loyalty to a man who lies, cheats, rapes, and steals.

The only way to counter the lawlessness of the GOP is to vote every last one of them out in November.

WATCH Jamie Raskin Take A GOPer To The Woodshed Over The Pledge Of Allegiance

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) gave a Republican colleague a much-needed lesson in American history yesterday during a debate in the House of Representatives.

According to HuffPost, Rep. Glenn Grothman (R-WI) was speaking on the subject of adding a citizenship question to the U.S. census when he referenced a line in the Pledge of Allegiance which reads, “and to the Republic for which is stands,” which led him to quote Benjamin Franklin.

“After our Constitution was ratified, he talked about giving us a republic, if we can keep it, and I think people should analyze those two little quotes and wonder why there were references to republic in both of them.”

That led Raskin to note that he had been “inspired” by Grothmans’s comments, and then he took his GOP colleague to school.

He said that “radical Baptist minister” Rev. Francis Bellamy wrote the pledge for the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus’ arrival to the Americas. He was concerned over the continued salute of the Confederate battle flag in the South.

“And so he wanted to write a flag salute that would be unifying for the Union,” explained Raskin, who noted that Congress added “under God” in 1954.

The Maryland Democrat also noted that Franklin was a strong supporter of immigration and added he had once loaned a friend some money.

His friend assured him that the principal was well invested, but paying interest would be against their religion, Raskin said. Franklin then told his friend that he meant to say it’s against his “principle” to pay him interest on the loan and against his “interest” to pay him the principal.

“Well look, here our principles and our interests converge, very much,” Raskin said.

“The principles are set forth in the Constitution, which is we count everybody and everybody is part of the census, and everybody is part of the reapportionment process. It’s been like that since 1790.”

Mocking the proposal to add a citizenship question to the censu, Raskin concluded his remarks with this salvo:

“But it’s also in our interest because, as my colleagues have said, this is a land that is built on immigration, except for the Native Americans that were already here and the people who were brought over as slaves. All of us are descendants of immigrants to this country.”

It has been said before but needs to be repeated: Jamie Raskin is a national treasure.

Jamie Raskin Slams ‘Partisan’ Right-Wing SCOTUS Justices And Recommends A New Workplace For Them

Like millions of Americans who listened to oral arguments in the Supreme Court yesterday on the issue of presidential immunity, Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) said he was stunned that most of the right-wing justices seemed to believe that a president may have total immunity from criminal acts and therefore can act like a dictator and face no consequences.

Appearing on MSNBC’s “The Reid Out,” Raskin was asked by host Joy Reid about how blatantly partisan the six conservative justices sounded as they questioned attorneys for Special Counsel Jack Smith and former president Donald Trump, HuffPost reports.

“Well, they’re politicians who are not even subject to popular election unlike me,” Raskin replied. “They should move the Supreme Court over to the RNC headquarters because they’re acting like a bunch of partisan operatives.”

Focusing on a question from Justice Samuel Alito suggesting that democracy itself could be endangered if a president isn’t allowed to do anything he wants, no matter whether it’s legal or illegal, Raskin noted, “I mean, for all of American history, we’ve said presidents are subject to criminal prosecution if they commit crimes.”

“Now they say, ‘Well, if you’re really mean to Donald Trump and you hold him accountable the way every other American citizen is accountable, then he’ll really overthrow the government, he’ll really bring out the big guns and we can’t afford that.’ And that’s a kind of masochistic, capitulationism to Donald Trump’s authoritarianism.”

The Founding Fathers rebelled against England and King George III in large part because they were disgusted by the idea that one man could be above the law and rule by fiat and whim. It’s why they declared their independence and formed the United States of America.

Now, however, it appears that some on the Supreme Court are ready to give that same dictatorial power to a American head of state. Jefferson, Madison, and Washington must be spinning in their graves.

WATCH Jamie Raskin Shut Down ‘Deranged’ James Comer: ‘You Need Therapy’

A House Oversight Committee hearing erupted into shouting and insults today when two members of the panel, Reps. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and James Comer (R-KY) clashed over the issue of Republican attempts to impeach President Joe Biden despite their complete lack of any evidence proving high crimes and misdemeanors.

Raskin noted that Republicans had accused Biden of taking bribes but have yet to offer any proof to support their specious accusation.

“It has obviously been dropped, and yet this was the genesis of our investigation.”

Comer interrupted, “That is just simply not true, but go ahead and finish your story.”

“Oh, I agree you have been talking about bank statements for more than a year, but they don’t show anything other than there was no crime,” Raskin continued.

“Do you want to move for impeachment today?” Raskin asked. “Because I thought that that was your main agenda item.”

“You all need therapy, Mr. Raskin.”

“No, you need therapy,” Raskin insisted. “You’re the one who’s involved with the deranged politician, not me, okay?”

“I’ve divorced myself from Donald Trump a long time ago,” Raskin added. “You’re the one who needs to disentangle from that situation.”

The purpose of the bogus impeachment inquiry aimed at President Biden was simple: To try and deflect from the laundry list of legal issues confronting disgraced former president Donald Trump, who is facing 91 felony counts on charges ranging from fraud to stealing classified documents and storing them at Mar-a-Lago.

As Congressman Raskin rightly pointed out, the GOP needs to disentangle from its associations with Trump. But they won’t, and that could lead to a landslide loss by Republicans come November.

WATCH Jamie Raskin Give The GOP A Brutal History Lesson On The Issue Of ‘Illegals’

Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) gave his GOP colleagues a much-needed history lesson Wednesday during a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee.

According to HuffPost, the hearing was on the Equal Representation Act, a piece of legislation that would mandate a citizenship question on any future U.S. census beginning in 2030.

At one point, Rep. Gary Palmer (R-AL) claimed the Founding Fathers “never anticipated” there would be “huge numbers” who weren’t allowed to vote being counted in the census.

That led Raskin to note, “Of course they did. The vast majority of Americans couldn’t vote when the country started.”

Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) interjected, “He said the founders never anticipated this volume of illegals. Don’t twist my colleague’s words.”

Raskin then dealt his GOP colleagues a devastating history lesson.

“There was no immigration law when the Constitution was adopted at all. In fact, the only illegals in the country, at least according to the native population, were the people writing the Constitution.”

The Constitution, it should be noted, was also signed by several Founding Fathers who weren’t even born in the United States. Wouldn’t that technically make them “illegals,” too?

Social media users also joined the debate.
