Evidence Suggests Some Congressional Republicans Could Still Be Charged For Jan. 6

While it’s been clear for some time now that former President Donald Trump was directly involved in fomenting the violence that took place on January 6 at the U.S. Capitol, reporting from The New York Times suggests that some Republicans in Congress also played a role in the efforts to subvert the 2020 election and keep power through a violent uprising.

Specifically, the Times reveals that notes taken by a top deputy to then-Acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen point directly to a coordinated effort between Trump and members of Congress. Those notes, which were handwritten by deputy AG Richard Donoghue, report what Trump told Rosen:

“Just say that the election was corrupt + leave the rest to me and the R. Congressmen.”

That, many legal experts said, is a literal smoking gun, and it means that several Republicans in Congress are facing indictment for their role in what transpired on that fateful day.

Philip Bump of The Washington Post focused in on the notation from Donoghue:

“What Donoghue’s notes suggest is that Trump had fully bought into the effort that would eventually become his Alamo: having Republican legislators block the electoral-vote counting due to take place at the Capitol on Jan. 6.”

Failing to certify counting of the electoral votes would have resulted in a Constitutional crisis. The added chaos of a riot at the Capitol would have provided the perfect opportunity for Trump to declare a national emergency and refuse to hand over the reins of power to Joe Biden. It also would have provided an “excuse” for a coup d’etat. And it would have even had the blessing of a faction in Congress.

Once again, quoting Philip Bump:

“Some congressional Republicans clearly did their best to aid Trump’s effort. On the morning of Jan. 6, (Rep Mo) Brooks spoke before Trump at a rally outside the White House. It was time, he said, to ‘start taking down names and kicking ass.’ It’s not clear if any of those in attendance did the former, but some clearly did the latter.”

Brooks, along with Reps. Jim Jordan, Jim Banks, Lauren Boebert, Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kevin McCarthy (and perhaps others) may well find themselves charged with crimes by the Justice Department.

WATCH: Lindsey Graham EXPLODES When Asked A Question By Reporter During Trip To Israel

During a visit to Israel on Monday, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) had a full-scale meltdown when a reporter from right-wing network Newsmax asked him a question about Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI).

At a press conference, Newsmax’s Daniel Cohen began by thanking Graham for his support of Israel, but then asked, “And I’d like to ask any Democrat senator here that would like to speak to Rashida Tlaib. She still has a tweet up condemning Israel for a hospital attack.”

Graham replied, “We are here together, not to talk about the problems at home, which are many.”

Cohen pressed: “It’s a question.”

That’s when Graham grew angry.

“You’re not going to screw this up!” Graham shouted.

Cohen: “I’m not trying to screw it up.”

That only made Graham angrier, leading him to suggest Cohen should be removed.

“Get this guy out of here!”

Graham then pounded the podium and declared:

“I’m an American. And I believe in free speech. I don’t believe what the squad has to say at all. But I came here with Democrats and Republicans to let everybody in the world know.”

“Don’t judge every Democrat by the squad, and don’t judge every Republican by some of the things you hear.”

A few minutes later, Graham offered an apology to the reporter: “And I’m sorry, my friend. I probably shouldn’t have said it, but my nerves are raw right now.”

Here’s the video:

Trump Says Fictional Serial Killer Hannibal Lecter Loves Him During Unhinged Iowa Rally

Disgraced former president Donald Trump said during a campaign rally in Iowa Saturday that fictional serial killer Hannibal Lecter has expressed his “love” for him and that means that he also “loves” the non-existent murderer.

During the speech, Trump was critical of allowing immigrants into the United States, suggesting that people were coming to the U.S. from “insane asylums,” which led him to add:

“Hannibal Lecter, how great an actor was he?”

“You know why I like him? Because he said on television on one of the – ‘I love Donald Trump.’ So I love him. I love him. I love him. He said that a long time ago and once he said that, he was in my camp, I was in his camp. I don’t care if he was the worst actor, I’d say he was great to me.”

So Anthony Hopkins said he loves Donald Trump? As HuffPost notes, Hopkins never said that, and neither did any of the other actors who have portrayed Lecter.

Hopkins, who was born in Wales and later became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2000, told The Guardian that he doesn’t care for Trump and explained that he doesn’t vote because he doesn’t “trust anyone.”

“We’ve never got it right, human beings. We are all a mess, and we’re very early in our evolution,” the actor said in 2018.

Here’s a thought: Let’s send Trump to prison and he can look for Dr. Lecter while he’s serving 20 to life.

Donald Trump Jr’s High School Nickname Is Hilarious And Humiliating

There are few people on the face of the planet who are as disgusting and objectionable as former president Donald Trump, but his namesake son is certainly in the running.

Donald Trump Jr. is always looking for ways to be an ass-kissing sycophant to his old man. Maybe that’s just so he won’t be written out of the will or because he sees his own asshole self in his father.

Looking backwards, you can often see how a person became who they are, and that’s the case with Don Jr., whose high school yearbook perfectly explains how he came to be the clueless, adulterous jackass he is today, according to OK! Magazine:

“One of Don Jr.’s yearbook quotes explains a lot about what he’s learned from his father, Donald Trump, over the years. ‘It takes a big man to admit he’s wrong and I’m not a big man. -Fletch,’ reads a quote underneath a portrait of his younger self on a page, obtained exclusively by OK!, from his yearbook.

“Don Jr. attended The Hill School, a boarding school located in Pottstown, Pa., before enrolling at the University of Pennsylvania.”

Be sure and note the nicknames Junior had in high school, too. One of them is “stank.” It’s impossible to know what exactly that means without confirmation from Don Jr., but it does match with something we learned about Junior when he was in college at the University of Pennsylvania:

“While an undergraduate at the University of Pennsylvania, Trump Jr. reportedly earned a reputation around campus for his rowdy, inebriated habits — notably, passing out in his classmates’ rooms, and wetting their beds.

“Diaper Don would wake up in some stranger’s dorm room or off-campus apartment or bedroom in his frat house, covered in piss, walk back to his own room, and get blitzed that evening or the next anew.”

So, the next time you happen to be on social media and want to get under Don Jr’s skin, remember to use “stank” and “Diaper Don.” Or you can just post that yearbook picture and ask him: What in the hell were you thinking with that hair?!

Lara Trump’s Cover Of A Beloved Tom Petty Song Has Her In Very Hot Water

As is far too often a case, a member of the Trump family is trying to make a political statement with someone else’s creative output, and it’s not only wrong on a moral level, it’s also so God-awful it’d make a dog leave the room.

The culprit this time is Lara Trump, whose only claim to fame is that she’s married to Eric Trump, the son of failed loser and thrice-impeached former president Donald Trump.

Mrs. Trump is on the verge of releasing a cover version of one of the late Tom Petty’s most famous tunes, “I Won’t Back Down,” which is probably the song he’s most associated with.

During the 2020 presidential race, Donald Trump used the song at one of his rallies, which led to Petty’s family sending a cease-and-desist notice to the Trump campaign.

Covering a song, it should be noted, isn’t a violation of copyright law as long as the song is changed in some way. In the case of the Lara Trump cover, it’s been made into a country tune, and it’s so damn bad that listening to just a few seconds may cause you to start bleeding from the ears. You’ve been warned.

For the brave among you, here’s a sample of Lara’s “I Won’t Back Down”:

As was noted, Lara cannot be legally pursued on copyright infringement, but the family can issue another cease-and-desist notice and then seek a court injunction.

But perhaps the hottest water of all for Lara Trump arrived in the form of disgust from social media users.
