Fox News host Maria Bartiromo is so terrified that President Joe Biden will win the 2024 election that she’s begging House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan (R-OH) to speed up the process.
Jordan was a guest on “Sunday Morning Futures,” and was asked by the host:
Jordan responded:
That’s when Bartiromo revealed her desperation:
Jordan: “He said they come after him because he’s fighting for us. That is true. That’s what the swamp does. They’re going after President Trump because he kept his word, and he’s fighting for us.”
Trump kept his word? On what? The man is a pathological liar who belongs behind bars for the next 50 years.
While Republicans like to say they’re confident Trump can win in 2024, Bartiromo just made it clear they’re worried the multiply-indicted loser ex-president will only manage a victory with help if his opponent is impeached, something that happened to the Donald not once, but twice.
On Tuesday, without a formal vote of the full House of Representatives, Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) instructed the relevant House committees to begin a formal impeachment inquiry into President Joe Biden.
In his announcement, McCarthy said, “These are allegations of abuse of power, obstruction and corruption. They warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives.”
McCarthy’s move was a complete capitulation to extremists in the House GOP caucus. One of those members, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), later praised McCarthy’s move, but also suggested he might call for the Speaker’s removal, Newsweek notes:
“I rise today to serve notice: Mr. Speaker, you are out of compliance with the agreement that allowed you to assume this role. The path forward for the House of Representatives is to either bring you into immediate, total compliance or remove you pursuant to a motion to vacate the chair,” Gaetz said on the House floor.
“So we’re either going to get compliance, or we’re going to start having votes on motions to vacate, and we’re gonna have them regularly. I don’t anticipate them passing immediately. But I think that, you know, if we have to begin every single day in Congress with the prayer, the pledge and the motion to vacate, so be it.”
Gaetz appeared on CNN Tuesday evening to explain why he supported the impeachment inquiry called for by McCarthy, citing “bank records, devices, laptops, travel records” as “evidence” of high crimes and misdemeanors by President Biden.
But when host Abby Phillip explained that Republicans have yet to provide a shred of actual evidence against the president, a flabbergasted Gaetz exclaimed, “Are you trying to tell your viewers you don’t believe Joe Biden was involved in Hunter Biden’s–“
Phillip responded:
There is absolutely no evidence of crimes by President Biden. There are only accusations without any substance and constant mentions of alleged misdeeds by the president’s son, Hunter, who has never worked a day in the administration, unlike Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, who were top advisers to failed former president Donald Trump and later received a $2 billion payoff of gratitude from a Saudi investment firm.
House Republicans are about to go down a road that will lead to them getting wiped out in the 2024 election, so at least something good will come from their idiocy.
According to failed one-term, twice-impeached and multiply indicted former president Donald Trump, Special Counsel Jack Smith “can’t bring a case” against him in federal court because he was already acquitted by the U.S. Senate during his impeachment trials in 2019 and 2021.
Clearly expecting to be indicted yet again by Smith for his role in the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol and attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 election, disgraced ex-president went on his failing Truth Social site and made the following post:
“How can Deranged Jack Smith bring a case on January 6th., as ridiculous as it is anyway, when I have already won such a case, and been fully acquitted, in the U.S. Senate? In other words, I was Impeached on this, and WON!!! ELECTION INTERFERENCE & PROSECUTORIAL MISCONDUCT, all rolled up as one. We are truly a Nation In Decline!”
Of course, anyone with even a rudimentary understanding of the U.S. Constitution knows that impeachment and criminal indictment are in no way connected.
Here are the basic differences between the two:
Indictment is a formal accusation that someone has committed a crime. It is typically issued by a grand jury and serves as the basis for a criminal trial. In other words, when someone is indicted, they are formally charged with a crime and must stand trial to prove their innocence.
Impeachment, on the other hand, is the process by which a government official is charged with misconduct or abuse of power. This can include charges of bribery, treason, or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Impeachment is a political process that is used to hold elected officials accountable for their actions while in office.
One is a legal process. The other is a political process.
It’s no surprise that Trump is confusing the two processes. After all, he’s easily the most ignorant person ever elected to the presidency.
For years now, Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has been a lightning rod for criticism, in part for his right-wing rulings and controversial past which nearly derailed his nomination when he was accused of sexually harassing Anita Hill while both worked at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC).
Now Thomas is once again in hot water thanks to two blatant conflicts of interest that have some legal experts saying the justice could well face impeachment.
The first controversy stems from a dissent made by Thomas regarding documents sought by the House Select Committee on the January 6 Capitol insurrection. He was the only member of the high court to rule that former President Donald Trump could keep documents hidden from the committee.
At the same time Thomas made his ruling, his wife, Ginni, was actively engaged in activism against the Jan. 6 investigation, which led University of Texas Law Professor Steve Vladeck to note during an appearance on CNN:
“There are surely substantive reasons, consistent with his jurisprudence, why Justice Thomas dissented from the Court’s decision to not help President Trump in that case. But for folks who are already skeptical of the Court, for folks who already view it as a deeply partisan, political institution, the fact that he is the sole dissenter, given what we know about Ginni Thomas’s involvement, sets off alarm bells.”
Pamela Brown of CNN fleshed out exactly how deeply involved Justice Thomas’ wife has been in trying to derail a full investigation of the Jan. 6 riots:
The other conflict for Thomas is the revelation that he’s been in “regular contact” with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) via email, which was reported by Politico on Friday:
Emails handed over to American Oversight, a group that bills itself as a government watchdog, suggest that DeSantis is in regular contact with Justice Clarence Thomas. In June 2021, Thomas’ wife, Ginni, who runs her own consulting firm, worked with the DeSantis administration to have the governor talk to a coalition of groups, including people affiliated with Judicial Watch, the conservative organization that uses information requests and lawsuits to investigate public officials.
Why is a potential 2024 Republican presidential contender communicating with a sitting Supreme Court justice? Even if they’re only discussing the weather or the Super Bowl, the appearance suggests something less than kosher. And that alone could lead to calls for Thomas to be impeached.
Are there enough Republican senators willing to cross the aisle and remove Justice Thomas from the court? Probably not, but an impeachment trial might convince Thomas that the time has come for him to step down.
Clarence Thomas has always been an illegitimate member of the highest court in the land. And his actions since he joined the Supreme Court are proof that he doesn’t belong there.
