Marjorie Taylor Greene: The Declaration Of Independence Justifies The Capitol Insurrection

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is proving her complete ignorance of American history yet again by claiming that the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol was completely justified because the Declaration of Independence mentions the right to “overthrow tyrants.

Appearing on the “War Room” podcast hosted by former Trump administration official Steve Bannon, Greene proudly let the world know that her brain is perpetually stuck in idle, remarking:

“If you think about what our Declaration of Independence says, it says to overthrow tyrants. There is a clear difference between Jan. 6 and the Marxist, Communist revolution, the Antifa, BLM, Democrat ground troops waged on the American people in 2020.”

Democrat ground troops? A Communist revolution? When and where did that happen? Apparently, Greene thinks that legal protests over police brutality are the first stage of revolution, and yet if she had any understanding of the document she references, she’d know the right to protest was one the reasons the Founding Fathers chose to break from Great Britain and form their own country without having to pledge obedience to a king.

Greene also told Bannon that what she called the “lies of Blue Anon” and “Democrat media” could “cause someone like me to be killed, or someone like you, Steve, to be killed.”

“They’re the real problem in this country.”

Actually, Marj, lies and bullshit conspiracy theories are the biggest problem in the country. They’re weapons of disinformation that infect the brains of the gullible and lead directly to the sort of violence we saw on Jan. 6.

Greene sounds more rattled and desperate than usual, and that may have a lot to do with a report from Rolling Stone citing two organizers of the Capitol riots who said they had dozens of meetings with members of Congress (including Greene) in the weeks before the Jan. 6 attack.

Bannon is also suspected of having played a major role in the violence at the Capitol and had been indicted by the Justice Department for contempt of Congress after he ignored a subpoena for information and testimony from the the House Select Committee investigating the events of Jan. 6.

Capitol Rioter Trashes The Donald: ‘Trump Is Not A Leader…He Needs To Go Away!’

Many of the people who showed up in Washington, D.C. on January 6, 2021 and stormed the Capitol have said they did so because they believed they’d been instructed to do so by failed, one-term, twice-impeached President Donald Trump.

As ABC News reported back in February, the lure for some of the rioters was a bizarre, imagined attachment to Trump:

An ABC News investigation into the nearly 200 accused rioters facing federal charges for their alleged involvement at the Capitol — based on court filings, military records, interviews, and available news reports– found that at least fifteen individuals who stormed the building have since said that they acted based on Trump’s encouragement, including some of those accused of the most violent and serious crimes.

Thomas Sibick also thought he was doing what Trump wanted when he marched on the Capitol and attacked law enforcement officers, but now says he can see he was wrong and the ex-president is a cancer on the country.

In a letter he sent to U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson, Sibick writes:

“[The attack was] a disgrace to our nation that left a scar Trump is ultimately responsible for. [Trump] is not a leader and should be ostracized from any political future, what he honestly needs to do is go away! I disagree with what occurred that fateful day, especially the trauma suffered by Officer Michael Fanone, it is without question unconscionable.”

Sibick was released by Judge Jackson until his trial, but under very strict conditions, Ryan Reilly of HuffPost reports:

Overall, Sibick is facing 10 felony counts: Obstruction of an official proceeding, and aiding and abetting; civil disorder; assaulting, resisting or impeding certain officers; robbery; entering and remaining in a restricted building or grounds; disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds; impeding ingress and egress in a restricted building or grounds; engaging in physical violence in a restricted building or grounds; impeding passage through the Capitol grounds or buildings; and act of physical violence in the Capitol grounds or buildings.

Those are all serious charges and could wind up sending Sibick to prison for years. But at least he appears to have finally seen the light and can admit that the man he and may others once considered a political savior is instead a malignancy who can never be allowed back in power.

Donald Trump does indeed need to “go away.” To prison. And for a very long time.

Greene Attacks AOC To Divert Attention From Her Being Named As A Jan. 6 Co-Conspirator

The walls are closing in on Republicans who took part in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection, and matters have been made even worse for several of them who were named in an explosive article from Rolling Stone.

According to that article, Republican members of Congress were intimately involved in planning the Capitol riots:

The two sources, both of whom have been granted anonymity due to the ongoing investigation, describe participating in “dozens” of planning briefings ahead of that day when Trump supporters broke into the Capitol as his election loss to President Joe Biden was being certified.

“I remember Marjorie Taylor Greene specifically,” the organizer says. “I remember talking to probably close to a dozen other members at one point or another or their staffs.”

Along with Greene, the conspiratorial pro-Trump Republican from Georgia who took office earlier this year, the pair both say the members who participated in these conversations or had top staffers join in included Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.), Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-Colo.), Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.), Rep. Andy Biggs (R-Ariz.), and Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas).

“We would talk to Boebert’s team, Cawthorn’s team, Gosar’s team like back to back to back to back,” says the organizer.

That revelation led Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) to suggest any member of Congress who helped plot what transpired on Jan. 6 should be given the boot:

Greene read that posting and responded in a manner that almost sounds like a an admission of guilt. Her tweets to AOC were shrill and did nothing to deny the Rolling Stone report. Take a look:

Did you notice Greene had two items that were numbered as “6”? The woman is so dense that she can’t even count correctly.

There’s also the false equivalency between what protesters did in the aftermath of the 2020 killing of George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis and the Capitol insurrection. Greene can complain all she wants about BLM protests, but none of them attacked the Capitol, and none of them are elected members of Congress. She, on the other hand, has praised the domestic terrorists who stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 and is indeed a member of the House.

Marjorie Taylor Greene and the other House members identified in the Rolling Stone article need to be subpoenaed and compelled to testify before the Jan. 6 Select Committee. If they refuse, they should be referred to the Justice Department for charges of criminal contempt.

Greene Kisses Steve Bannon’s A*s After He’s Referred To DOJ For Contempt: ‘I Was Disgusted And Furious!’

On Thursday, the House of Representatives voted to refer former Trump adviser Steve Bannon to the Justice Department for criminal contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena for documents and testimony sought by the Select Committee on the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol.

According to the Washington Post, if the DOJ does charge Bannon with contempt, he could be looking at spending at least a year in jail:

Bannon has previously argued through his attorney that he can’t respond to the subpoena because of executive privilege asserted by former president Donald Trump.

The matter now goes to the Justice Department, which will decide whether to pursue the contempt referral. Contempt of Congress is a misdemeanor criminal offense that can result in up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $100,000.

Prior to the vote, Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) asked his colleagues to consider if they were willing to allow some people to declare that they’re above the law:

Shortly after the vote, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who may also be facing a subpoena for the Jan. 6 committee in the near future, made an appearance on Bannon’s podcast, “War Room: Pandemic,” and wasted no time verbally kissing his ass:

“Here they are, celebrating voting to hold an innocent American in criminal contempt!”

An innocent American? If Bannon and the rest of the suspected plotters are so innocent, why don’t they willingly agree to cooperate with the committee? Only guilty people refuse to comply with a legal subpoena.

Greene then claimed that after the vote — which was approved by a 229-to-202 vote, with 9 Republicans crossing the aisle to vote “yes” — she approached Reps. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Jamie Raskin (D-MD) and confronted them for taking action against Bannon:

“They lied about you, they lied about President Trump and I was disgusted and furious! So I yelled at them on the House floor! I let Liz Cheney have it, I let Adam Schiff have it, I let Raskin have it! I couldn’t contain myself — I said you people are a joke!”

Classic psychological projection by Greene, who is vying for being the biggest joke of a so-called “representative” when you consider that she managed to get herself booted off all committee assignments with her big mouth and anti-Semitic rhetoric.

Greene and her ilk are running scared, and they damn well should be. If the Jan. 6 committee finds evidence they were also a part of the plotting, they too could wind up being charged with crimes even more serious than contempt of Congress.

Ivanka Trump Likely To Be Subpoenaed By The Jan. 6 Committee: Report

The House Special Committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection made it clear they are referring former Trump administration aide Steve Bannon to the Justice Department for contempt of Congress.

But it turns out that members of former President Donald Trump’s family are also facing being subpoenaed by the committee, according to CNN reporter Jamie Gangel, who noted:

“If [Trump] thinks he can get away with being cute with his press releases, he has another thing coming.”

When host Wolf Blitzer remarked that the committee may subpoena Trump himself, Gangel replied:

“I think it opens up the Trump family. Remember, Ivanka Trump was with her father on January 6th. She was in and out of the Oval Office. I think that there are going to be a lot of people who are fair game who are very close to the former president.”

The former president has urged Bannon and others who have received subpoenas from the committee to ignore them, but that could have serious repercussions if his daughter is also pressed for testimony.

Can you imagine Ivanka being hauled away by federal marshals and taken to jail for refusing to comply with a subpoena? What would her father do then?

Knowing Donald Trump, he’d probably let her stay in lockup and then try to suggest she’s the one who dreamed up the Capitol insurrection.
