Less than 24 hours after actor Alex Baldwin accidentally shot and killed award-winning cinematographer Halyna Hutchins on the set of the movie “Rust,” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) posted a hateful, tone-deaf tweet making light of the situation and attacking Baldwin.
Boebert referenced a tweet Baldwin sent seven years ago in the aftermath of the police shooting of Michael Brown, an 18-year-old black man who was gunned down by a police officer in Ferguson, Missiouri.
Even though the two events are not even vaguely similar, Boebert sent out this tweet:
Reaction on social media was immediate. Even former Trump White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah was disgusted by Boebert’s attempt to use a tragedy in order to score cheap political points:
If you’re going to tout your Christian faith, how about trying to have some empathy and grace over a tragedy? Don’t remember the part of the gospel that says “anything for RTs” https://t.co/uPT3djTpT7
A member of Congress is using her taxpayer-funded salary to dig up seven year old tweets to troll a man she's never met in what's probably the worst moment of his life. "Shame" doesn't even begin to describe this. https://t.co/BKtSWsADqc

You really have to be the most ghoulish, heartless, shittiest excuse for a human being to use a tragic accident that cost a young woman her life, to attempt to crack a joke at @AlecBaldwin’s expense. https://t.co/ZddmfIS0XB
The “party of family values” ladies and gentlemen. This vile creature is reveling in a tragic death. She’s using that horrible accident as a weapon in order to attack someone who is undoubtedly suffering. This is who she is. She is grotesque. She’s an embarrassment to Congress.
It’s so easy to upset conservatives and right-wingers. All you have to do is say something good about a member of the Biden administration or a Democrat in Congress and the extreme right begins frothing at the mouth and breathing fire.
For example, during a discussion of a back-and-forth at Friday’s White House press briefing between Fox News reporter Peter Doocy and press secretary Jen Psaki, there was a mention of President Joe Biden possibly paying a visit to the U.S.-Mexico border, to which Psaki said the president wouldn’t be going to the border for a “photo-op.”
That led Fox host Chris Wallace to praise both Doocy and Psaki, according to Mediaite:
“Honestly, as somebody who’s spent six years in the White House, my immediate reaction was those are two people at the top of their game,” Wallace said.
He praised Doocy for his tough questions and said, “I mean this as a compliment. I think he has become the Sam Donaldson of this White House press corps.”
Donaldson was famously aggressive in his questions to President Ronald Reagan when he was ABC News’ Chief White House Correspondent in the 80s.
“And since I was working in the press corps when Sam Donaldson was there, that’s a very grudging compliment on my part,” Wallace quipped. The Fox News Sunday anchor was NBC News’ Chief White House Correspondent during that time period.
He went on to say that Psaki “is one of the best press secretaries ever.”
Psaki is indeed very good at her job, and unlike her predecessors in the Trump administration, she holds a press briefing five days a week, Monday through Friday, and never begs off doing so just because she doesn’t want to answer tough questions on issues that impact the American people.
But based on the reaction Wallace received from conservatives and other assorted right-wing snowflakes, you’d have though he just said Donald Trump is a member of QAnon and drinks the blood of infants in order to maintain the tangerine tint to his skin.
Chris Wallace just said "Jen Psaki is one of the best Press Secretaries ever". I know he is a liberal but I didn't realize how ignorant and out of touch he is. @FoxNews shame on you!
The bad news just keeps rolling in for embattled Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), who is reportedly under investigation for sexually trafficking underage girls.
The Daily Beast reports that the Florida Bar Association has suspended Gatez from practicing law in his home state:
As of Wednesday, Gaetz had not paid the fees he owes to The Florida Bar, which regulates lawyers there, prompting the organization to deem him “delinquent” and “not eligible to practice law in Florida.”
As you might expect, rather than be forthright about not paying the required money, Joel Valdez, a spokesperson for Gaetz tried to spin the latest humiliation for the congressman:
“Congressman Gaetz is no longer actively engaged in the practice of law. He is focused on representing his constituents in Congress, not the courtroom.”
However, attorneys who spoke to Daily Beast reporter Jose Pagliery said that sounds like a load of bull:
That explanation may sound reasonable enough. But four attorneys who spoke to The Daily Beast noted that it is extremely rare for lawyers to do this. Instead, attorneys taking a step back from their legal duties normally pay a smaller $175 fee to remain “inactive” but still a “member in good standing.
“He clearly doesn’t take his law license very seriously when he doesn’t take the time to pay the $265 dues,” said Daniel Uhlfelder, a Santa Rosa Beach attorney who lives in Gaetz’s district. “He’s not a serious lawyer. He’s not a serious congressman. He’s not a serious person. This is one small but symbolic example of that.”
The real reason Gaetz isn’t paying his dues to the Bar Association is probably so he can avoid having his law license revoked as more evidence continues to come to light regarding his alleged sexual misconduct with minors, according to Cris Dosev, a real estate developer who ran against Gaetz in the GOP primary last year:
“It might be a calculated move. I think he’s preemptively trying to remove a level of scrutiny from the Bar.”
This has been the proverbial “week from hell” for Gaetz, with his former “wingman,” Seminole County, Florida, tax collector Joel Greenberg receiving a four month delay in his sentencing as he continues to cooperate with federal prosecutors as they investigate whether or not the congressman sexually exploited underage girls.
If convicted of sexually trafficking minors across state lines, Gaetz could be sentenced to life in prison.
Not content to have already destroyed his own real estate company, the Trump Organization — which is under criminal investigation in multiple jurisdictions — failed, one-term, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump has now decided to launch a social media platform that he believes can compete with Facebook and Twitter, both of which have banned him for his lies about the 2020 election.
Trump made his announcement of the new Trump branded platform (which he’s calling “TRUTH Social”) via his spokesperson, Liz Harrington, who unfortunately hasn’t been kicked off Twitter:
“We live in a world where the Taliban has a huge presence on Twitter, yet your favorite American president has been silenced.”
🚨President Donald J. Trump Announces Trump Media & Technology Group🚨
“I created TRUTH Social and TMTG to stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech…
“TMTG was founded with a mission to give a voice to all. I'm excited to soon begin sharing my thoughts on TRUTH Social and to fight back against Big Tech. Everyone asks me why doesn’t someone stand up to Big Tech? Well, we will be soon!”https://t.co/zkSg6iAqtb
Actually, the Taliban and Donald Trump have a lot in common, but we’ll leave that discussion for another day.
First of all, just the fact that Trump is calling this TRUTH Social is the height of both hypocrisy and irony. The man doesn’t believe in truth; his every word is a lie.
Also, when you consider that every business the Donald has ever been a part of has either gone bankrupt or is facing indictment, the so-called Trump Media & Technology Group seems destined for a quick collapse. In six months time, it’ll probably be tossed onto the same heap of failure as Trumps steaks, Trump airlines, Trump vodka, and Trump University.
The vast majority of Twitter users who know how to follow the Terms of Service for the platform Trump is so jealous of were only to happy to mock Donnie for his latest harebrained scheme:
So of course, they'll consider themselves to be the publisher of all content posted to their site no matter who posts it and accept the legal consequences, right?
Even though he waited 24 hours before commenting on the death of former Secretary of State Colin Powell, who died of COVID complications on Monday, failed, one-term former President Donald Trump made sure to trash Powell’s legacy in a statement he issued through his spokesperson, Liz Harrington.
“Wonderful to see Colin Powell, who made big mistakes on Iraq, and famously, so-called weapons of mass destruction, be treated in death so beautifully by the Fake News Media. Hope that happens to me someday. He was a classic RINO, if even that, always being the first to attack other Republicans. He made plenty of mistakes, but anyway, may he rest in peace.”
NEW!

Of course, Donald Trump has never made any mistakes. At least, not in his deranged mind. He mishandled the response to COVID, threatened our allies, praised murderous dictators such as Vladimir Putin and Kim Jong-un, and has been accused of sexually assaulting dozens of women, yet he has the nerve to slag a true American hero who served his country with honor and distinction.
Reaction to Trump’s hateful statement was immediate:
"Hope that happens to me someday" Trust me every single morning I wake up turn on my computer in hopes that your "Someday" has come!
