Though you’ve likely never heard of the The American Muckrackers Political Action Committee (PAC), they helped make sure that Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-NC) lost his primary bid for a second term Congress by releasing a series of damaging photos and videos of the congressman in all sorts of compromising positions.
And now that same PAC is promising to “fire” Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), who is also facing an uncertain future when Colorado holds its primary election on June 28.
The allegations being made by American Muckrakers hit right the heart of what would be stunning hypocrisy on the part of Boebert, who is resolutely opposed to abortion and loves to suggest that she’s a Christian who doesn’t support same-sex marriage or LGBTQ rights.
Here’s the statement American Muckrakers released about Boebert and her allegedly disturbing past:
Be sure and note the mention of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), another anti-choice member of the GOP who is also fond of using his “morality” lectures to chide those who don’t share his right-wing Christian nationalist beliefs. And while there is no proof that Cruz ever paid Boebert for sex, he still needs to address the matter.
Boebert, on the other hand, had better hope more revelations don’t come up between now and June 28 or she’ll be joining Cawthorn in the unemployment line.
At a hearing of the House Judiciary Committee this week, an anti-abortion activist told members of the panel that electric power in Washington, D.C. is provided by burning aborted fetuses.
Catherine Glenn Foster, who is the president and CEO of Americans United for Life, appeared before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday. She spoke out forcefully and at times graphically about abortion. At one point she claimed discarded fetuses help power Washington, D.C.:
Where did Foster get such an absurd conspiracy theory? HuffPost reports it likely came from rumors that medical waste is often incinerated:
While some states, like Indiana, require aborted fetuses to be buried or cremated in a funeral home, they’re disposed of as medical waste in the nation’s capital.
That has led anti-choice activists to accuse Curtis Bay Medical Waste Services, the largest medical waste incinerator in the country, of transporting and incinerating fetuses to generate energy. Recently, an anti-abortion activist found with the remains of five fetuses in her apartment claimed that she and a colleague had obtained them from a Curtis Bay worker. The company denied the claim, saying company policy prohibits it from transporting fetal remains.
If indeed the Supreme Court does overturn Roe v. Wade and criminalize the right of women to make their own reproductive choices, how many unwanted orphans will Catherine Glenn Foster be willing to adopt?
According to Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), the only reason some companies are saying they’ll pay for their employees to travel and receive abortions in states where it’s legal is because they don’t want to provide parental leave benefits.
HuffPost notes that Boebert shared her brainless conspiracy theory on Twitter:
“Anyone else consider that these companies suddenly offering to pay for employee abortions are doing so just to avoid paying for maternity leave?”
“Cheaper to kill the baby… true evil personified.”
However, Boebert has also been a vocal critic of paid parental leave, such as what she said last November:
Saving the world? Sure thing, BoBo. You can’t even manage to keep your lies straight, yet alone “save” anyone.
Social media users blasted the Colorado Republican.
Less than 24 hours after the U.S. Supreme Court refused to strike down a restrictive Texas law which forbids nearly 85% of all abortions in the state, the Biden administration made it clear it will not sit by and allow women across the United States to be denied a right they are guaranteed under Roe v. Wade, the landmark decision handed down in 1973 which established that states may not seek to control a woman’s reproductive freedom.
President Joe Biden had this to say Thursday afternoon in an official statement:
“It unleashes unconstitutional chaos and empowers self-anointed enforcers to have devastating impacts,” Biden, a Democrat, said in a statement directing federal agencies to act to protect the right to abortion enshrined in the high court’s landmark 1973 Roe v. Wade decision. “Complete strangers will now be empowered to inject themselves in the most private and personal health decisions faced by women.”
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki also commented on the ruling by the high court, noting:
That led Owen Jensen, the White House correspondent for EWNT — The Eternal Word Television Network — to ask:
Without a moment of hesitation, Psaki expertly swatted down Wilson by telling him:
Boom! Game, set, and match, Jen Psaki.
It shouldn’t be required to teach Americans that church and state are supposed to be kept separate under our form of government. It’s enshrined in the damn Constitution! As Thomas Jefferson himself once wrote:
“Millions of innocent men, women and children, since the introduction of Christianity, have been burned, tortured, fined and imprisoned. What has been the effect of this coercion? To make one half the world fools and the other half hypocrites; to support roguery and error all over the earth.”
The Texas attack on a woman’s right to choose will backfire on the state and on Republicans nationally. It may well hand the 2022 election to Democrats at the local, state, and national level.
When it comes to the right to choose, we should leave those decisions to the women who have to make them.
