Jury Says Alex Jones Must Pay Almost $1 Billion In Damages To Eight Sandy Hook Families

A jury in Connecticut has ordered right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones to nearly $1 billion in damages to families of victims killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, according to Bloomberg.

Jones must pay $965 million to eight families and an FBI agent.

The families’ lawyers had suggested jurors use $550 million as a “baseline” for calculating damages — roughly one dollar for every social media impression Jones’s Facebook, Twitter and YouTube accounts jointly racked up during the six years following the 2012 mass shooting.

In his closing argument, Chris Mattei, an attorney for one of the families, told the jury:

“You have to stand up to a bully, because bullies won’t stop, especially when being a bully makes them very, very rich.”

Though Jones has repeatedly said he is flat broke and cannot pay a dime in damages, a former employee who worked for the Infowars host testified that Jones total earnings dietary supplements, books and survival gear at $100 million to $1 billion since the 2012 mass shooting that left 26 people dead, including 20 children between six and seven years old.

Just last month, Jones had his request for bankruptcy denied by a judge and a new overseer appointed, guaranteeing that the right-wing agitator will be unable to hide any of his assets, which will likely lead to a complete financial collapse of him and his company:

Judge Christopher Lopez dismissed Mr. Jones’s attorney and chief restructuring officer in the bankruptcy of Free Speech Systems, Infowars’ parent company, and expanded the duties of a Department of Justice-appointed trustee already monitoring the case. The judge authorized the trustee to hire additional legal and other help, specifying that any new hires must have “no connection to any of these cases,” he said, citing a need to investigate “insider relationships.”

According to remarks Jones made after the Sandy Hook massacre, the dead children and their grieving families were merely “crisis actors” who performed as part of a plan he claimed was meant to aid the passage of restrictive gun control measures in the United States.

WATCH: Texas Mom Doesn’t Want Kids Learning About Gandhi Because That Would Be ‘Critical Race Theory’

An angry Texas mother told the Texas State Board of Education on Tuesday that she doesn’t think it’s right for first graders to learn about the life and teachings of Mahatma Gandhi because that would be teaching “CRT” which is also known as Critical Race Theory.

The woman, who identified herself as “Jenna,” began her tirade:

“You refer to our flag, bonnets and mockingbirds as a significant symbol to a Texas community. No, these are emblems of identity and instill pride and connection with our home.”

It would inappropriate to teach children about “the importance of collaborating with various cultures” Jenna continued, because first they need to learn about their own culture:

“This revision wants to teach a first grader who is still putting notes to the tooth fairy under her pillow about following Gandhi’s lead to a peaceful protest. A first grader! CRT is already rampant and baked into our curriculum and we don’t want to be good little global citizens where are borders are considered a military zone.

“It’s a border and it’s good! Teach that. This is the land of the free, home of the brave. Be brave!”

State Board of Education Member Marisa B. Perez-Diaz countered Jenna by noting that she had failed to cite what Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) contain the standards that she was so enraged by:

“Be specific about what you’re talking about so that we understand that you actually have a legitimate concern or it’s not something you’re just hearing and reading and repeating. I guess I want to understand what on the history of how borders were created do you know about?”

That further angered the mother:

“I’m not an expert. I don’t appreciate your, um, belittling. I didn’t come here with a Ph.D. and I didn’t come up here as an educator or somebody on one of these work groups. I’m coming up here as a parent.”

Perez-Diaz reassured Jenna she wasn’t trying to belittle her in any manner:

“You just told our chair that you’d read it somewhere or you heard it, you don’t know. And that is not a belittling. I’m just acknowledging what you have yourself said.

“My point in asking you the question about borders is that is a clear example of why we need the standards the way that they have been written because this country did not always have borders. This country, we’re sitting on stolen land.”

After audience members in attendance applauded the board member’s remarks, she continued:

“That isn’t something that is in the standards. But what is in the standards is understanding our indigenous roots and understanding how indigenous communities have been impacted and those sorts of pieces of our history are very important.

“And so, again, I ask, what do you remember about learning about indigenous histories?”

Jenna was then forced to admit she didn’t learn much in history class when she was a student:

“I don’t remember very much about indigenous histories. I’m sorry I can’t answer your question about what I learned about indigenous communities and the border. I know our border is open right now and thousands are flooding over!”

Alex Jones Tells Steve Bannon To Expect A Terrorist Attack By ‘Obama And His People’ Before The Midterms

Even though he was handed a bill of almost $50 million last week for defamatory comments he made about parents of the children killed in the 2012 Sandy Hook school massacre, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones is now spreading a new lie to eager right wingers: Former President Barack Obama is probably going to launch a terrorist attack inside the United States right before the midterm elections in November.

Appearing on Steve Bannon’s “War Room: Pandemic” podcast, Jones was asked by the host:

“Are you concerned about the Nov. 8 elections? Are you seeing things out there that are concerning you as to whether we’ll have a free and fair election?”

Jones replied:

“I’m worried that the Biden controllers, the third administration of Obama — I’m worried that Obama and his people may provocateur some type of big terror attack. They might launch a cyber attack and blame it on the Russians. They might start a major war.”

Jones then added:

“I mean, they’re going to have an October surprise or a group of October surprises. You can bet your bottom dollar on it.”

The exchange between Bannon and Jones tells us two things:

  • Republicans are worried they’re going to lose in November, despite their long-predicted “red wave” on Election Day.
  • Conservatives and right-wing nutjobs are already laying down the predicate for what they’ll claim if Democrats keep control of the House and Senate.

It’s also interesting to hear Jones and his ilk talk about terrorism when it was their shock troops who carried out the most recent domestic terror attack in this country on January 6, 2021.

If there is any terror attack before votes are cast on Nov. 8, the first person to be questioned should be Alex Jones.

Alex Jones Sinks His Own Defense By Admitting The Sandy Hook Massacre Was ‘100 Percent Real’

As he tries to avoid having to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in damages for claiming the 2012 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary was fake, conspiracy theorist Alex Jones was forced to admit under oath Wednesday morning that the horror which left 26 people dead, including 20 children aged six and seven, was indeed real.

Testifying in a trial that will decide how much in damages Jones has to pay for his lies about Sandy Hook, the host was asked if he understood “how crazy” it was to claim no one died at the school. He claimed he was “under a lot of pressure at the time” and added:

“It was, especially since I’ve met the parents. It’s 100 percent real, and the media still ran with lies that I was saying it wasn’t real…They won’t let me take it back.”

Of course, if Jones hadn’t said such disgusting things in the first place, he wouldn’t need to take them back.

On Tuesday, parents of one of the victims testified, Mediaite reports:

Jones’ testimony came a day after Neil Heslin and Scarlett Lewis, the parents of 6-year-old Sandy Hook victim Jesse Lewis, testified about the torment they’ve experienced since Jones claimed that their son was a child actor. Heslin testified that Jones claims have made his life “living Hell,” and Lewis spoke directly to Jones on the stand as she said “I wanted to tell you to your face because I wanted you to know that I am a mother first and foremost. And I know that you are a father and my son existed. You’re still on your show today trying to say that I’m, implying that I’m an actress, that I am ‘deep state.’”

Jones has already been found guilty of defamation, and the family is seeking $150 million in damages due to the threats and harassment they’ve received since Jones began telling his falsehoods about what happened at Sandy Hook.

Alex Jones Facing Financial Ruin As Sandy Hook Parents Seek Over $100 Million In Damages Today

Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones could be on the merge of discovering that the First Amendment has limits and does not allow a person to attack others with lies in an effort to demean their pain and suffering as testimony begins today in Texas to decide much he must pay the families of children slain in the 2912 Sandy Hook Elementary mass shooting that left 26 dead, including 20 children between the ages of six and seven.

According to the Associated Press, the parents suing Jones are seeking in excess of $100 million in damages. Such a judgement, attorneys for Jones allege, would lead to financial ruin for the controversial radio and podcast host.

The jury could deal Jones a major financial blow that would put his constellation of conspiracy peddling businesses into deeper jeopardy. He has already been banned from YouTube, Facebook and Spotify for violating their hate-speech policies and he claims he’s millions of dollars in debt — a claim the plaintiffs reject.

The trial involving the parents of two Sandy Hook families is only the start for Jones. Damages have yet to be awarded in separate defamation cases for other families of the 2012 massacre in Newtown, Connecticut.

During questioning of potential jurors, Jones’ attorney Andino Reynal conceded that his client is indeed a “very polarizing” and “controversial” figure, but urged to cap any damages at a miniscule $1.

“We’re very happy with the jury we’ve seated,” Reynal said. “It’s a very important First Amendment case. On trial right now is not just people’s freedom of speech, but it’s also people’s freedom to listen. To choose what they watch on television, to make those choices for themselves, instead of having a personal injury lawyer make those choices for them.”

Reynal neglected to mention that juries in both Texas and Connecticut have already found Jones liable for defamation after he suggested that the children and teachers slain at Sandy Hook Elementary were “crisis actors” who staged a fake shooting to increase the likelihood of gun control legislation in the United States.

Since being found liable, Jones has insisted that he’s already broke, claiming that he’s $20 million in debt and cannot possibly pay any judgements that may be assessed against him.

The plaintiffs, however, don’t believe Jones, and the facts simply don’t support his claims of poverty:

Court records show that Jones’ Infowars store, which sells nutritional supplements and survival gear, made more than $165 million between 2015 and 2018. Jones has also urged listeners on his Infowars program to donate money.

Hopefully, when all is said and done, Alex Jones won’t have a proverbial pot to piss in.
