CPAC Speaker Says Biden Is ‘Terrorizing’ Jan. 6 Rioters By Letting The DOJ Prosecute Them

This is the weekend for the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) to meet, and they’re doing in so in Florida to keep failed, one-term former President Donald Trump from having to travel too far since he’s become a doddering old man who requires frequent diaper changes during the day.

One of the speakers was a woman named Julie Kelly, who is listed as a Senior Writer for something called “American Greatness,” Media Matters reports:

Kelly began her remarks by rattling off a list of things that had been done by an unnamed person:

“He’s using this law enforcement agency, armed agents, military-style vehicles to conduct pre-dawn raids at the homes of political dissidents. Terrorizing these dissidents in front of their children, and, in some cases, their elderly spouses. Hauling them off, concocting charges against them, fabricating evidence, and in almost 100 cases, hauling them off to prison where they have been denied bail.”

Dissidents? That has echoes of the old Soviet Union, where people were hauled away by the KGB and put in gulags for all sorts of nonsensical charges.

Kelly then continued:

“And dozens of them, actually, shipped off to a special political prison in the nation’s capital, where these detainees are then kept away from their family, their defense attorneys, they can’t see the evidence against them – all the rights that those citizens have from their country’s charter are completely gone. No due process. No presumption of innocence. Trials are delays. Evidence is covered up. Their lives are destroyed. Their families are destroyed. Their businesses are destroyed.”

All of that led Kelly to this conclusion, which was eagerly lapped up by the audience:

“The media, of course, helps out the regime in smearing these people and ruining their lives. Now, who am I talking about? Not Vladimir Putin, of course. Joe Biden.”

Apparently, if you storm the Capitol, terrorize members of Congress, and defecate in the halls of the seat of the U.S. government, you’re not a domestic terrorist. To the right-wing Trumpers, such behavior qualifies you as a “dissident.”

While we’ve known for some time now that conservatives are obsessed with Putin, to hear a member of their ranks compare President Biden to a mass murderer like the Russian tyrant is a new level of disgusting.

Former Federal Prosecutor: Trump Has Reached ‘The End Of His Rope’ And Is Going Down

When the history books are written decades from now, it may well be said that this was the week when everything that could possibly go wrong collapsed right on top of failed, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump.

Consider what has transpired over the past five days for Trump:

  • His accounting firm cut all ties to him and announced that financial statements provided to them by the Trump Organization contain “material discrepancies.”
  • A New York judge ruled that the ex-president, along with Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump, must sit for depositions within the next three weeks.
  • The National Archives and Records Administration confirmed that Trump did indeed take classified documents out of the White House and transport them to Mar-a-Lago. They then referred the matter to the Justice Department for further investigation and possible criminal charges.

In other words, Trump is facing financial collapse, civil and criminal indictment, and watching as both he and his three oldest children are put on trial for a plethora of felony charges.

What’s next? According to former federal prosecutor Glenn Kirschner, Trump has reached “the end of his rope” and there’s more bad yet to come.

Kirschner was a guest on MSNBC, where he was asked by Jonathan Capehart if he thought Trump would “face any consequences.”

Kirschner responded:

“How could he not, Jonathan? You just went through the trifecta of really crushing legal stories for Donald Trump. And it’s not that he’s just losing these cases, but what some of the judges are saying.”

Quoting from a judge’s ruling that Trump seems to be complicit in the January 6 Capitol attack, Kirschner then added:

“Those are the words of federal crimes. Things are getting really bad as the investigative circle is tightening around Donald Trump.”

Later in the discussion, Kirschner noted:

“Donald Trump may be reaching the end of his rope. I predict, once the first brave prosecutor who has the evidence to indict Donald Trump brings that indictment, everybody is going to want to be the second prosecutor to indict Donald Trump.”

Who will be the first prosecutor to indict Donald Trump? That remains to be seen, but as Kirschner predicts, it’s likely to have a domino effect that will leave the former president trying to defend himself on multiple fronts as his finances are being squeezed.

It couldn’t happen to a more deserving asshole.

Former Prosecutor: Jordan’s Jan. 6 Phone Call With Trump Is A ‘Big Piece’ Of Evidence That Could Sink Both Men

Thanks to some excellent reporting from CNN, we learned Friday that the House Select Committee on the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol now has evidence that failed, one-term former President Donald Trump spoke to his longtime congressional acolyte, Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), for 10 minutes on the morning of the attack.

The House select committee investigating the Capitol insurrection is now in possession of White House records that provide new details about a phone call Donald Trump made to Republican Rep. Jim Jordan on January 6, 2021 — as the investigation drills down on the former President’s communications that day and questions have long swirled around calls between him and lawmakers.

Two sources who have reviewed the call records tell CNN that Trump spoke on the phone at the White House residence with Jordan for 10 minutes on the morning of January 6. That afternoon, Jordan took to the House floor to object to the certification of President Joe Biden’s Electoral College win, and pro-Trump supporters attacked the US Capitol.

Jordan has so far refused to cooperate with the Jan. 6 committee, and it remains unclear if he will be subpoenaed for his testimony.

But according to former federal prosecutor Harry Litman, the call itself could wind up being a key to sinking both the Ohio Republican and ex-president.

Appearing on CNN, Litman was asked by host Amara Walker:

“We know that Congressman Jim Jordan spoke with President Trump for ten minutes. That afternoon he went to object to the certification of Biden’s Electoral College win. Do you think a subpoena will be enough for Jordan to speak to the committee and reveal what was said on that call?”

Litman replied:

“Short answer is no. And by the way, you’re right. just for the listeners, the records the committee have just say how long the call was, they don’t have the context. The people who could give that? Jim Jordan and Donald Trump but they both can have confidence that there will be a conspiracy of silence.”

Litman then added:

“But it’s significant. Because he’s been all over the lot and very squirrely about it with one exception. He said categorically, ‘I never talked to him in the morning.’ So this puts the lie to it. As you say that really matters because it is in advance of the whole riot and rally that Trump undertook.

“So it is a big piece of evidence. A prosecutor’s head would be going off like crazy given all the squirreliness like before, but I don’t think a subpoena will work against Jordan unless and until they go to court for it.”

All of the pieces are falling into place that will eventually provide the roadmap necessary to charge Trump and his co-conspirators for their role in the Capitol insurrection. And keep in mind that the committee has seen evidence we haven’t. That information will be handed over to the Justice Department along with a criminal referral specifying what crimes the committee believes were committed by Jordan and others.

Hang in there. It’s all about to be laid in front of the American people when the committee’s public hearings begin in March.

MTG Viciously Attacks Lindsey Graham After He Criticizes Trump’s Idea Of Pardoning Jan. 6 Conspirators

Once again, failed, one-term former President Donald Trump has set members of the GOP against one another, which could prove fatal to Republicans as they try to unify their party and win the 2022 midterm elections.

This time, Trump has Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) lashing out at Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) over remarks the ex-president made Saturday evening during a rally in Conroe, Texas.

Specifically, Trump hinted he might just issue presidential pardons to those who have been charged with taking part in the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol:

“Another thing we’ll do — and so many people have been asking me about it — if I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6 fairly. We will treat them fairly,” he said at a rally in Conroe, Texas. “And if it requires pardons, we will give them pardons. Because they are being treated so unfairly.”

That didn’t sit well with Graham, who pushed back at Trump on Sunday, according to Newsweek:

“I don’t want to send any signal that it was OK to defile the Capitol. There are other groups with causes that may want to go down to the violent path that these people get pardoned.”

Graham’s remarks set Greene off on a tangent which she posted on the Telegram social media app:

“Lindsey Graham has done nothing about J6 (Jan. 6).

“I guess Lindsey Graham doesn’t care about being presumed innocent until proven guilty. Americans are being treated worst than Islamic terrorists at Gitmo and Lindsey Graham doesn’t care. He doesn’t care about their due process rights. He doesn’t care that they haven’t seen their families and are denied seeing their attorneys most of the time. He doesn’t care that these pretrial J6 defendants are denied hair cuts, shaving, chapel, and the most basic of human rights. He doesn’t care that they are abused in the DC jail because they are white, male, and voted for the very President that he supposedly supports.”

The Georgia Republican then added this to her screed:

“While no one agrees with the violence and riot at the Capitol on J6, Lindsey Graham would rather see pretrial J6 defendants be abused and forgotten just like Nancy Pelosi wants them abused and forgotten. Instead of actually doing something about the great injustice happening to pretrial Americans awaiting their day in court, Lindsey Graham turns his head to their abuse, votes for Joe Biden’s nominees, votes for Joe Biden’s Infrastructure bill, and then pretends to be a friend to President Trump. Aren’t we all sick and tired of those kind of ‘friends.'”

Be sure and note the line “While no one agrees with the violence and riot at the Captiol on J6…” However, Greene does indeed agree with that took place, and has made that clear on multiple occasions. She is also suspected of having played a part in what transpired on that horrific day.

The good news is that if Republicans are sniping at each other, it weakens them. Leave it to Trump to set off a civil war inside the GOP.

Former Pence Staffers Are Being ‘Particularly Cooperative’ With House Jan. 6 Committee

In what can only be seen as the ultimate irony, it now appears that the evidence most likely to result in criminal charges being filed against failed, twice-impeached former President Donald Trump may be provided by staffers who once worked for former Vice President Mike Pence.

According to Axios, members of Pence’s staff have been “particularly cooperative” with the House Select Committee investigating the January 6 Capitol insurrection:

People in and around former Vice President Mike Pence’s office have been particularly cooperative as the Jan. 6 select committee focuses on what former President Trump was doing during the more than three hours the Capitol was under attack, sources familiar with the testimony tell Axios.

The cooperation of those who had a front-row seat to what transpired on that horrible January day is key to the committee, which is on the verge of holding public hearings that could further expose Trump and members of his inner circle to criminal referrals the Justice Department would be hard-pressed to ignore.

Some of the former Pence staff members have even agreed to talk to the Jan. 6 panel without having to be subpoenaed:

  • Both Pence’s former chief of staff Marc Short, and former press secretary Alyssa Farah, who later served as White House communications director, are among those cooperating with the committee.
  • Keith Kellogg also has given a deposition.
  • One source familiar with their involvement said Short, who was subpoenaed by the committee, would not have cooperated without the approval of Pence.

The committee has received the most helpful information from “second- and third-tier administration staff who were not directly involved but were at the White House on Jan. 6 and had access to top administration officials.”

After speaking with the committee, Farah noted:

“You could see how much information they already had.

“Those who are refusing to cooperate likely are doing so out of complete fealty to Donald Trump and not wanting to piss him off.

“But, secondarily, because they’re realizing the committee has quite a bit more information than they realized. And their involvement is known to a much greater degree than they realized.”

The upcoming public hearings could prove to be a tipping point that will convince the majority of Americans Trump and members of his staff need to be held accountable and prosecuted for their crimes. And they should also make for the most fascinating television since the Watergate hearings back in 1974.
