Former Secretary of State and 2016 Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton only needed one word to describe why failed ex-president Donald Trump constantly defends and praises Russian mass murderer/war criminal Vladimir Putin, HuffPost reports.
Referencing comments Trump made over the weekend during a campaign rally in Durham, New Hampshire regarding Putin, in which Trump quoted the Russian dictator as saying criminal charges against the Donald “shows the rottenness of the American political system, which cannot pretend to teach others about democracy,” Clinton posted this response on Twitter:
Just last month, Clinton appeared on “The View” and noted, “I think it would be the end of our country as we know it” if Trump wins in 2024.
Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) has a message for her Republican colleagues in the House of Representatives who voted this week to open a formal impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden: You’re going to regret that decision.
Appearing on MSNBC, Crockett told host Jonathan Capehart that she will be dragging failed former president Donald Trump’s crimes into the hearings and hinted that she may also go after Republicans who sit on the House Oversight Committee.
Capehart asked the Texas Democrat, “As a member of the Oversight and Accountability Committee, what role do you expect to play in this impeachment inquiry process?”
“We will make sure that we juxtapose what it looks like when this committee runs the way that it is supposed to as well as we will bringing out the hypocrisy which exists.”
Crockett then elaborated on how she will contrast Trump with Biden.
“We have Trump on one hand and Biden on the other. We have all of these insurrectionists, congresspersons, and then we’ve got Hunter Biden, you know. We will make sure that the American people and know that this is just not the tree that they want to bark up on.”
When the dust settles, don’t be surprised if the GOP impeachment gambit winds up backfiring on them in a major way and costs them the 2024 election. The only reason they’re doing it is to appease Trump, and that’s not likely to sit well with most voters.
Earlier this week, Rep. Tim Burchett (R-TN) voted to open an impeachment inquiry of President Joe Biden, but when MSNBC host Symone Sanders tried to ask why he had done so, he got defensive and suggested she was a “Democrat operative.”
That was an enormous mistake on Burchett’s part.
Sanders asked the congressman what evidence he had that would prove the president committed high crimes or misdemeanors. Rather than answer, Burchett recited a hackneyed talking point about the president taking repayments for a truck loan from his son, Hunter.
Sanders: “Alright, congressman, let’s do it then.”
“I did use to advise a number of individuals, I’ve also advised some corporations and companies, but here I’m just here to be an advocate for the viewer,” she said. “And I will ask you one last time. What is the evidence that the committee has that Joe Biden, while he was president, committed a high crime, misdemeanor, or treason. Because that is the bar for an impeachment inquiry.”
Burchett responded, “You have to ask yourself, ma’am, why a vice president or a president would get $40,000 through a Chinese communist corporation…”
Once again, Sanders put Burchett in his place.
Republicans don’t have diddly squat when it comes to proving their harebrained conspiracy theories about President Biden. But that won’t keep them from marching in lockstep like good cult members to please their lord and savior, Donald Trump.
A file containing classified information about Russia and Russian efforts to influence the 2016 election disappeared in the last days of the Trump administration and has yet to be found, according to a terrifying report from CNN.
The binder contained raw intelligence the US and its NATO allies collected on Russians and Russian agents, including sources and methods that informed the US government’s assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to help Trump win the 2016 election, sources tell CNN.
The intelligence was so sensitive that lawmakers and congressional aides with top secret security clearances were able to review the material only at CIA headquarters in Langley, Virginia, where their work scrutinizing it was itself kept in a locked safe.
The file was last seen at the White House when Trump sought to declassify it for public release. The disgraced former president has long been obsessed with news reports suggesting that the Kremlin actively worked to get him elected instead of then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton.
Additionally, the Russia binder wasn’t among the classified documents found when the FBI searched Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort in August of last year, raising new questions about what might have become of the dossier.
New information suggests that the file was taken by former chief of staff Mark Meadows, CNN notes.
Cassidy Hutchinson, one of Meadows’ top aides, testified to Congress and wrote in her memoir that she believes Meadows took home an unredacted version of the binder. She said it had been kept in Meadows’ safe and that she saw him leave with it from the White House.
“I am almost positive it went home with Mr. Meadows,” Hutchinson told the January 6 committee in closed-door testimony, according to transcripts released last year.
George Terwilliger, an attorney for Meadows, denied his client is in possession of the file, remarking, “Anyone and any entity suggesting that he is responsible for anything missing does not have facts and should exercise great care before making false allegations.”
If the information is now in the hands of the Kremlin, has U.S. national security been compromised? And if so, what long-term ramifications could that pose for the overall security of the United States?
Perhaps members of the Trump administration, including the ex-president, need to be brought before a Senate committee and forced to testify under oath. After all, if they have nothing to hide, they should be eager to cooperate.
Speaking in Iowa Wednesday, failed one-term, twice-impeached, and multiply-indicted ex-president Donald Trump claimed that the former White House physician, Dr. Ronny Jackson, once told him that he was “healthier” than former President Barack Obama.
William Vaillancourt reports for The Daily Beast that Trump also bragged about his overall mental and physical fitness for office.
“I just took a physical, you’ll be happy to hear… I passed with flying colors. And I took a cognitive exam. I said, ‘Doctor, give me anything you want. I want to take it,’” Trump said, apparently referencing a letter his doctor released in September stating that he had conducted an exam on the 13th of that month.
Like nearly everything Trump says, that’s not completely true.
Dr. Bruce Aronwald, who wrote a short letter regarding Trump’s health, said the former head of state’s cognitive scores were “exceptional” and physically Donald is “well within the normal range.” However, there was no report of what Trump weighed, his blood pressure, cholesterol level, or the medications he may be taking. In other words, it wasn’t exactly a very thorough report, and that’s intentional.
While speaking in Iowa, Trump also claimed that President Joe Biden is cognitively impaired.
But it was what the disgraced former president said when he compared himself to Obama that drew the most attention.
While he was at it, Trump added this tidbit about Jackson: “He said, ‘If he didn’t eat junk food, he’d live to 200 years old.’ That’s my kind of a doctor.”
Should he happen to decline mentally or physically, Trump continued, he’ll know immediately.
“I’ll be the first to know.”
“But I feel that right now I’m sharper than I was 20 years ago, and I don’t know why,” he maintained. “It’s a funny thing, and it’s a very minor thing, but I’m a much better golfer than I was 10 or 15 years ago. It means something, you know? It means something in a certain way.”
Maybe instead of locking Trump up in prison, we need to consider putting him in a straitjacket and letting him live out the rest of his life in a rubber room.
