Liz Cheney Slam Dunks Mike Johnson After He Shows Up At Trump’s Hush Money Trial

Former GOP Rep. Liz Cheney (WY) couldn’t contain her disgust when it was reported that Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-LA) would be in attendance today at failed former president Donald Trump’s New York hush money trial.

Earlier in the morning, The Hill reported that Johnson would indeed become the latest Republican to appear and offer moral support to Trump.

In a statement confirming Johnson’s appearance in Manhattan, the Speaker’s office called the hush money case “the sham prosecution of President Trump” and railed against “left-wing Manhattan district attorney” Alvin Bragg, who led the investigation into the former president.

On Monday, Sens. J.D. Vance (R-OH) and Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) were at the Manhattan courthouse. Both spewed fact-free conspiracy theories about Trump’s prosecution for falsifying business records and illegally interfering in the 2016 election.

But having the current speaker show up was a bridge too much for Cheney, who lit into Johnson on Twitter.

Others on social media also joined in mocking Johnson.

Ted Cruz’s ‘Celibate’ Defense Of Trump Backfires On Him In Spectacular Fashion

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) desperately (and pathetically) tried to defend failed former president Donald Trump during an appearance on Fox News last night and only succeded in humiliating himself and the ex-president with a bizarre claim that no one thought the Donald had been “celibate” his entire life.

Speaking with Fox host Sean Hannity regarding Trump’s ongoing criminal trial in Manhattan for allegedly falsifying business records and interfering in the 2016 election by paying hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels to hide an extramarital affair he had with her.

“The testimony of Stormy Daniels was salacious. That was the point of it. Listen, there is no person on planet Earth that believes Donald Trump has been celibate all his life,” Cruz insisted. “That is not news. But they want to drag him through the gutter because this is a political smear job. It’s not about the rule of law and it’s frankly– it’s tragic what is happening because the rule of law is important. It protects all of us. This is what banana republics do.”

Of course, Trump isn’t on trial for the affair he had, or even for the $130,000 he paid to Daniels. But his actions do suggest he did so in order to hide the information from voters, especially after release of the infamous “Access Hollywood” interview in which he bragged that he enjoyed grabbing women “by the pussy” and kissing them against their will.

Online critics lit into Cruz, branding him a hypocratic enabler of sexual assault who’s always eager to defend Trump, no matter how disgusting his behavior might be.

Legal Expert Laughs At Trump For Trying To Woo Stormy Daniels By Wearing ‘Silk Pajamas’

Even though he has repeatedly denied he had an extramarital affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels, testimony from Daniels today suggests that disgraced former president Donald Trump did indeed know her and wooed her in some laughably pathetic ways.

MSNBC legal analyst Katie Phang explained that Trump had his eye on Daniels from the get-go.

“So here’s the thing,” Phang noted. “We know that Donald Trump is seeking Stormy Daniels out.”

“Donald Trump loves to say, ‘I don’t know these women,'” Phang continued. “They’re horse faces. They’re this. They’re that.’ No, no, no. We now know, he’s seeking out Stormy Daniels to dine with her. And what was her initial reaction? ‘Expletive no!'”

Daniels eventually relented when her publicist encouraged her, suggesting it would make for a good story.

But when Daniels arrived for her date with Trump, he was wearing silk or satin pajamas. She urged him to change because she said he looked like Playboy publisher Hugh Hefner.

Defense attorney David Markus said such details enhance Daniels credibility as a witness and show that the affair actually happened.

“The idea is you want to demonize the defendant, and this is all trying to make him look so bad. It’s not going to the elements of the crime. And the jury will see all these things she’s saying, and they will get that ick factor. And you laughed out loud when you heard about the pajamas.”

Phang: “He’s in satin pajamas, and she thinks she’s coming for dinner. And why would Trump be embarrassed about this information getting out? Maybe just the silk pajamas are what he doesn’t want to get out, and he doesn’t want it to hurt his campaign.”

Donald Trump is under the impression that he’s some sort of great ladies’ man, but as today’s testimony shows, he’s just a pathetic loser who wants to believe he’s smooth. In reality, he’s about as smooth as a bedsheet made of sandpaper.

A Four-Word Text Message May Be What Sinks Trump In His Hush Money Trial

A four-word text between Keith Davidson, an attorney for Stormy Daniels and Dylan Howard, a former editor at the National Enquirer, could wind up being the most damning evidence that former president Donald Trump and his surrogates directly interfered in the 2016 election, which is a felony and could land Trump in prison for several years, according to legal expert Norm Eisen.

In an op-ed he wrote for CNN, Eisen notes that the text message is crucial to a larger understanding of what Trump was attempting to do: Hide an embarrassing sex scandal from voters shortly after the Access Hollywood tape had been aired and nearly upended his bid for the White House.

“Although Davidson is just a supporting actor in this drama, his role in negotiating the alleged payment to Daniels makes him an important witness to lay down the basic facts of the alleged ‘catch and kill’ plot — and to corroborate the details that former American Media, Inc. CEO and National Enquirer publisher David Pecker established and Cohen will ultimately testify about,” Eisen explains. “Perhaps the most dramatic moment of Davidson’s morning testimony came when he was asked about an election night 2016 text message exchange with Dylan Howard —a former editor of the National Enquirer who helped broker the negotiations for the story. The prosecution asked Davidson to explain the meaning of a text he had sent to Howard that evening. As the election was about to be called for Trump, Davidson sent a text to Howard asking, ‘What have we done?'”

The importance of that text message cannot be overstated, Eisen continues, because the New York hush money trial isn’t just about cash in exchange for silence or business fraud. It’s about the possibility that Trump and his associates acted to defraud voters.

“Without the intent to cover up another offense, falsifying documents is just a misdemeanor. The reason Trump has been charged with felony document falsification here is because it was allegedly done with intent to cover up a payment in excess of campaign contribution limits that was made in order to impact an election.”

Additionally, Eisen reveals, prosecutors don’t have to prove the hush money scheme with Daniels actually changed any votes or led to Trump’s victory in order for the ex-president to be found guilty. Having the intent to do so would be enough.

“I was watching the jury closely when Davidson spoke, and they were riveted. The prosecution is constantly finding ways to tell jurors that they are giving weeks of their life to weigh a matter that is not trivial, but critical for the honesty of our elections and our democracy. We will see if they agree when they ultimately deliver their verdict.”

Four simple words could be what doom Trump and lead to his incarceration before a single ballot is cast in the 2024 election. How ironic would that be?

Terrified Trump Begs GOP To ‘Take Action’ And Help With His Fraud Trial During Manic 2 AM Rant

Perhaps sensing that he is on the cusp of being convicted for paying hush money to Stormy Daniels and interfering in the 2016 presidential election, disgraced former president Donald Trump begged congressional Republicans to “step in” and “take action” to save him from the consequences of his crimes.

Posting on his failing Truth Social site at 2 a.m. Wednesday morning, Trump’s fear was palpable.

“We have a Rigged Judge, who is working for the Democrat Party and refuses to terminate this ‘case,’ which should have never been brought by Soft on Crime Alvin Bragg,”

“Judge [Juan] Merchan should be immediately removed, and the Appellate Courts have to take over. That also applies to Corrupt Judge [Arthur] Engoron, who knew I did nothing wrong, and still fraudulently fined me $500 Million Dollars while having no knowledge of Valuation, Finance, or in any way what he was doing. Same with Judge Kaplan, who allowed a woman, who I have never met (celebrity photo line does not count!), and know nothing about, to get a lawless judgment of $90 Million Dollars. New York Justice is in shambles, and only the Appellate Courts can save it.”

Trump was far from finished, however, adding, “A Republican doesn’t stand a chance. This is not Justice.”

“This New York Cabal, run by Crooked Joe Biden’s White House, is a hit job on a Political Opponent the likes of which the USA has never seen before. For the Good of our Country, it must be stopped. The Crooked Joe Biden Witch Hunts have to be ended. REPUBLICANS IN WASHINGTON MUST TAKE ACTION!”

It’s unclear what exactly Trump thinks members of Congress could possibly do to protect him since the New York court system is not answerable to any Washington political figure. But the online ranting from the failed ex-president suggests he’s incredibly scared and can sense that the trial is slipping away from him as his overwhelmed attorneys try one desperate legal tactic after another, with each one failing.

If he’s convicted in Manhattan, Trump could face prison time, The Independent reports.

“Should Mr Trump ultimately be found guilty, he could theoretically face more than a decade in prison, according to CNN chief legal analyst Laura Coates, who points out that the felony counts against Mr Trump are classified as Class E crimes in New York, which are the lowest level felonies in the state.”

“The maximum sentence for each count is four years in prison, which would add up to 136 years behind bars, but as Ms Coates explains, New York imposes a 20-year sentencing cap for this type of offence, with a decision on whether the sentences run concurrently or consecutively left up to the judge.”

20 years in a New York prison? No wonder the 77-year-old is so scared. 20 years would mean he’d likely die while incarcerated.

Oh, well, as the old saying goes, Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time.
