Former Trump administration chief strategist Steve Bannon had to make another court appearance today in the matter of the two contempt of Congress charges that were filed against him by the Justice Department for his refusal to obey a lawful subpoena from the January 6 House Select Committee.
Bannon was trying to get a judge to dismiss those contempt charges, and he spoke with reporters while he was preparing to enter the court, telling them:
A reporter asked:
Bannon replied:
Yeah, sure thing, traitor.
But the best part of Bannon’s impromptu presser was the man who stood behind him holding a sign that read “FAILED COUP.”
Bannon is under the delusion that he’s still got power and relevance. He doesn’t, and when he’s found guilty and sentenced to federal prison, he’ll have even less.
Former Trump administration adviser Steve Bannon is furious with Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and is accusing him of being a traitor to the MAGA movement and failed, one-term former President Donald Trump.
On his “War Room” podcast Wednesday, Bannon referenced remarks made by President Joe Biden that there were five Republican senators who support him but fear saying so because they believe they would face primary challenges from pro-Trump candidates:
Bannon then urged the five senators to identify themselves, taking direct aim at Graham:
Wow! Sounds like the GOP is starting to implode. And with Trump facing the very real possibility of being indicted in New York, Georgia, and by the Justice Department for his role in the January 6 Capitol insurrection, we could see the Republican Party in a full-scale civil war long before the 2022 midterm elections.
Former Trump administration official Steve Bannon is BIG mad, so he’s making all sorts of absurd accusations and suggesting that he’ll have his revenge though it remains unclear how he intends to do much of anything if he’s put on trial, found guilty, and send to federal prison for up to two years for contempt of Congress.
A day after he had to surrender to the FBI, be fingerprinted, photographed, and treated like what he is — a common criminal — Bannon was back on his “War Room: Pandemic” podcast spinning new conspiracy theories and making the case against him even stronger with ever word he spews.
After showing video clips from the 1979 Francis Ford Coppola film “Apocalypse Now,” Bannon began ranting:
Weaponize the DOJ? That’s what failed, one-term, twice-impeached ex-President Donald Trump did. Bannon is engaging in classic psychological projection and isn’t even smart enough to realize it.
Bannon also claimed that President Joe Biden’s meeting with Chinese leader Xi Jinping was a “surrender” to the Chinese Communist Party:
Notice how Bannon failed to mention that Trump is compromised by Russian and Saudi money? He doesn’t want to upset the countries that own and control his lord and savior. And his prediction that Republicans will win control of the House is also premature. The 2022 midterm elections are a year away, and there’s no telling how many Republicans will have been indicted by then for their role in the Jan. 6 Capitol insurrection.
Later in his podcast/clown show, Bannon raised his voice as he declared:
Hey, Steve, but it’s kinda hard to “fight” when you’re trying to stay out of lockup.
Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton managed to get some sweet revenge on those allied with failed, one-term ex-President Donald Trump with a 5 word tweet she sent out Monday shortly after Steve Bannon surrendered to federal authorities being charged with criminal contempt of Congress.
HuffPost notes that Clinton was ready when the opportunity presented itself:
Clinton, who has endured years of Donald Trump’s “lock her up” smears, responded to a tweet asking, “You know who is not going to jail and has never been indicted for anything?” The person who posted that question also wished Clinton a “great weekend.”
“Thanks, it was quite restful,” wrote Clinton on Monday after Bannon surrendered to the FBI.
Twitter was in total agreement with Clinton and the shade she threw:
Disgraced former White House adviser Steve Bannon may have sealed his own legal fate today when he admitted on his “War Room” podcast that he helped plot the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol which led to the deaths of five people, including a police officer.
On his show Wednesday, Bannon played a clip of Peril authors Bob Woodward and Robert Costa explaining how the Capitol riot had been planned prior to the event, with Costa saying during an appearance on MSNBC:
After he played the clip, Bannon remarked:
Gee, Steve, why would those people think that? Probably because Trump, Fox News, Newsmax, One America News, and other right-wing outlets repeated that lie over and over again until it took hold among those who couldn’t accept that the majority of the American people had rejected the failures of Trump and were ready to kick him to the curb.
Bannon then tried to cover his ass by suggesting that the Biden administration was imploding:
Maybe Bannon can content himself with that fact when he’s put in handcuffs and charged with sedition and conspiracy to commit murder.
